As you step into the property, you’ll be charmed by its tasteful decor, with furniture mainly sourced from the renowned OKA collection, creating an ambiance of elegance and comfort. The property is all on one level located on the ground floor. The living room beckons with its snug ambiance, boasting a Smart TV with Sky for your entertainment. Barrowswood, a semi-detached holiday cottage (ref 29842), enjoys commanding views over Cheddar Gorge in the distance. Its large garden adjoins a field with occasional visiting sheep and is the perfect spot in which to relax and unwind. Strawberry Lodge (ref 29841) stands detached at the far end of the grounds of Barrowswood, enjoying woodland surroundings with magnificent views over the field and across to Cheddar Gorge. Blackberry Lodge (ref W44121) is a single-storey, detached lodge, ideal for a romantic retreat for couples. All three properties may be booked together should you have a larger party.
Cheddar village offers plenty of interesting shops and cafes as well as other attractions. Cheddar Gorge, Britain’s largest limestone ravine gouged through the Mendips, is a magnet for climbers, walkers and visitors to the floodlit caves and Cheddar Reservoir is a great place to take a picnic, look out for wildlife and join in activities such as sailing and angling. Axbridge is a charming market town with a medieval square and half-timbered buildings, whilst Wookey Hole attracts many visitors to the showcaves. Wells is England’s smallest city set around a cathedral; Wedmore is a lively town with many individual shops and eateries, Glastonbury is famous for its music festival, spiritual culture and King Arthur legends, and the coastal resorts and magnificent beaches at Weston-super-Mare, Burnham-on-Sea, Berrow and Brean are all within a short drive, as are the cities of Bath and Bristol. The Old Stable is a beautiful one-bedroom detached barn conversion which can accommodate up to four guests. Newly renovated in 2021 to a luxurious standard with plenty of character, beamed ceilings, bifold doors and stylish furnishings. The property is situated in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with breathtaking views over the Mendips and the Chew Valley Lakes.
The property is set over two floors with a bright and spacious living area which has a Freeview Smart TV and two sofas, one of which is a double sofa bed that can accommodate an additional two guests. The kitchen and dining area is well equipped with an electric oven, induction hob, dishwasher, washer/ dryer, built-in microwave, fridge freezer, quartz worktops, a butler style sink and a table and chairs. The shower room leads off the living area and is fitted with a shower cubicle, heated towel rail, toilet and wash basin.
Upstairs, guests will enter into a galleried sleeping area which has a comfortable kingsize bed, built in drawers, bedside tables, hanging hooks and an armchair. The patio area at the back of The Old Stable is a real suntrap with two set of bistro tables and chairs, overlooking the views of the Mendips and the Chew Valley Lakes. Perfect for enjoying a morning coffee or glass of prosecco on a summer evening.
With brilliant walking routes all around, The Old Stable is a perfect back drop to days out. Within a 30-minute walk is the village of Chew Magna with three great pubs, a café/gift shop, fish bar, butcher, pharmacy and a shop. The property is close to the well-known Chew Valley Lake and Reservoir, and also to an abundance of great walks and popular tourist attractions including Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole Caves, Glastonbury Tor and Wells Cathedral. The seaside is also close by at Weston-super-Mare and Clevedon.
