The cottage is within easy reach of towns such as Leek, Ashbourne and Buxton which all are worth a visit. They all offer independent shops and cafés, as well as high street names, plenty of restaurants and bars, and Buxton also has the opera house, where you can watch shows making for a good night out. There are also several National Trust Properties nearby and the Peak Wildlife Park is within 5 miles. If you are more of a thrill seeker, then Alton Towers is a mere 10-mile drive.
    Butterton sits high above the Manifold Valley. From the cottage, you can get straight onto this trail and walk for miles, connecting to other neighbouring trails. Some of the most beautiful scenery in the Peak District is within easy reach. Tissington Trail - popular with walkers and cyclists - is only 5 miles away. The local inn in Butterton is less than a quarter of a mile from the cottage and offers delicious food and ales. The property has been renovated to a high standard in 2023 with sustainable materials and underfloor heating to the ground floor.
    As you drive through Butterton, to get to the cottage you pass through a ford, and from there you can see this inviting and welcoming cottage. There is ample parking outside and the stream runs by creating a relaxing atmosphere as you listen to the sounds of the water whilst enjoying the large garden this property offers. Inside the house is a kitchen with all the appliances and equipment you should need to make your favourite meal, a dining table that seats all guests, and the cute addition of a cushioned window bench; the dining room has patio doors opening it up to the garden, which has great views through fields to the distant hills. The sitting room is a comfortable and cosy space with a roaring wood burning stove to warm up in front of, after a day of walking or exploring. On the first floor is the master bedroom with a kingsize bed, a second bedroom with kingsize zip and link bed (which can be made into twin beds upon request), and the third bedroom with a full sized bunk bed.     Throwley Cottage has a delightful location in a very rural area, a great spot for some peace and quiet and not to be disturbed. As you arrive there is ample parking and you are greeted by the vast fields that surround this home. The property itself is very traditional with original features and space. On the ground floor is the fully equipped kitchen with everything you need to cook your favourite meals during your stay with a dining table to seat all guests, there is also a back door leading out to the rear garden. The living room has comfortable seating, a TV and an open fire. There is also a shower room located on the ground floor.
    Upstairs there are three bedrooms, made up of a double, a twin and lastly a double bed and single bed in the third bedroom. All rooms have a homely feel to them and have stunning views across the Peak District landscape. There is also a family bathroom on the first floor with a bath and shower attachment. Outside within the fenced garden the kids can run free, play garden games or let the dogs enjoy the space this property offers. There is a bike rack too for you to store your bicycles while you aren’t on the trails.
    Throwley Cottage is located near Ilam, Ashbourne, just a short distance from Dovedale and 15 minutes from Alton Towers theme park.
