The Old Dairy is within 3 miles of Thorndon Country Park which has 500-acres of diverse habitats, good for horse riding, walking, cycling and fishing. Enjoy a trip along the River Waveney or River Alde, taking in the waterside scenery and looking out for some of the region’s rare wildlife. The cottage, located in a conservation area, is set a short distance off the high street down a quiet lane. Both countryside and the Suffolk coastline are within easy reach. Renovated in 2022 to offer an excellent standard of comfort and equipment. Inside, you will find a few beams, along with a wood burner in the living room to snuggle beside on cooler evenings, or play some of the board games. The kitchen is well equipped to dine at home, and for any foodies looking to dine out, the local area is plentiful with many good eateries. To the rear is a lovely, enclosed lawn garden and further seating secretly tucked away with a lovely view across the beautiful countryside, with the River Deben flowing nearby. Just a stroll from the cottage is a play barn and cafe that families with children under 7 can enjoy. The cottage is a short distance down a quiet lane where horses can often be seen wandering by, and is within walking distance of the high street which is well served with a supermarket, newsagent, hairdressers, beauticians, vet and restaurants. The surrounding countryside in the Deben Valley is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with picturesque countryside. Woodbridge is a bustling market town with a range of independent shops, fine dining pubs, restaurants and coffee shops, as well as a swimming pool, independent cinema, sailing and glorious walks along the River Deben. The train station is in neighbouring Campsea Ashe with rail links to London, the coast and the Broads. If you can drag yourself away from Wilma Cottage, the village of Geldeston is lovely place to have a wander. There is a shop with post office, and two local pubs, where you’ll be greeted with a warm and friendly atmosphere and scrummy homemade English food, open fire and a beer garden. Just a 2-minute walk brings you to Rowan Craft Marina, which offers day boat hire, canoeing, fishing and riverside walks along the beautiful southern River Waveney, gateway to the Broads. Walkers will be spoilt for choice here - you can stroll from Beccles to Geldeston Locks, a 7-mile walk along Angles Way, passing Barsham Hall, where the ghost of old Blunderhazard is said to ride his fire-breathing horses to Norwich and back on Christmas Eve! Or the footpath from Beccles to Geldeston village makes for a wonderful riverside walk.
Just 4 miles away is the pretty town of Beccles, made up of small market squares and winding streets, nestled by the River Waveney. You’ll find quirky independent shops, restaurants and cafés, along with festivals and entertainment held throughout the year. Visit nearby Lowestoft for sandy beaches and seaside amusements, or head to Southwold for a traditional seaside resort, just a 20-minute drive away. The weekly market is excellent for all things local should you wish to enjoy a night of cooking and dining in. The Broads National Park is very popular, best enjoyed on the waterways with kayaks, canoes and day boat motor launches for a more leisurely pace. Alternatively sit back and enjoy a guided boat tour, where you can just soak up the incredible national park. The Nest is a beautiful, self-contained one-bedroom cottage situated next to the main farmhouse. It can sleep up to three adults or two adults with two children. It’s the perfect location for those wishing to explore the local area and is ideal for those interested in walking and wildlife. The living room is a former conservatory with a cosy roof and has underfloor heating to ensure comfort all year round. The living room has a double sofa bed, TV and dining table. You’ll also find a selection of games and toys to keep you entertained, and books and maps to help you whilst exploring the area. The small but perfectly formed kitchen has everything you need, with a full oven, gas hob, microwave and fridge. You’ll find some of the basics such as cooking oil, salt, pepper etc already in the cupboards. The bedroom features a super kingsize bed, reading lights, built-in wardrobes with a full-length mirror and French doors opening up onto the private garden. It’s a bright and airy room, but once you’ve drawn the curtains and dimmed the lights it’s the ideal place to cosy up with a good book. Just off the bedroom is a large shower room, with a walk-in shower, twin vanity units and toilet. The garden has a seating area, with gas BBQ and a chimnea with views out across the farm fields allowing you to listen to the birdsong.
We’ve made sure you don’t need to pack too heavily, with games, toys for the kids, DVDs, books, picnic blanket, flask, Tupperware, children’s cups, plates and cutlery all provided. We can even lend camping chairs, beach shelters and buckets and spades if needed. Don’t worry we haven’t forgotten your four-legged friend, there’s bowls, blankets, poo bags and a little treat ready for their arrival too.

Situated discreetly off a private farm track, well away from the busy roads and directly on the Sandlings Walk, it’s ideal for walkers, cyclists and birdwatchers.
