A fantastic conversion of a stable into a lovely, spacious holiday home for two people. The Stable has been cleverly converted to deliver brilliant open-plan accommodation for those holidaying in the far north of Scotland. The Stable is only a mile south from Wick just off the NC500. The minimum stay is three nights, but the accommodation and location suits longer stays. It would be a good choice to stay at The Stable for a week or more and explore the far north from a lovely base.
There’s so much to see and do in the local area, for example the coastal path between John O’Groats and Inverness is only a short stroll to the east of The Stable and this leads you beautifully into Wick via The Trinkie (seaside swimming pool!), Tinkers Cave and Telford’s amazing harbour. In Wick there are places to visit, including the historic Pulteney Distillery. You could of course keep walking north on the coastal path and see places near to Wick like Noss Head Lighthouse, Castle Sinclair, Ackergill Tower and Reiss Sands. But these along with more sites like Keiss Castle and Harbour, and Duncansby Head can be easily reached by car from The Stable en-route to your inevitable trip to John O’Groats.
From The Stable it’s highly recommended that you take a trip to Orkney from Gills Bay, which is a cheaper and quicker ferry than that from Scrabster. Near to Gill’s Bay to the west you have another place you must visit, Dunnet Head and Beach. The Castle of Mey in the summer is also worth visiting. The list of places to visit goes on and on, which is why a base in this far north east location is needed. And you can go quite far by car south and west, as well via the interior roads, to really see this magnificent part of Scotland.

We love the location because you can be beyond Wick exploring Reiss Sands, Keiss, Duncansby Stacks and John O’Groats; heading west to Thurso and adventuring along the far north coast with amazing surfing beaches at Dunnet, Reay, Melvich and Strathy; plus you can easily go south to characterful Helmsdale with its world-renowned salmon river and amazing interior road through to the north coast beaches. All places mentioned are within 45 minutes’ drive, and with the interior road route via Helmsdale you can really explore this area by heading out on loop drives from Craiglea Lodge, not simply out-and-back tours.

Activities and experiences can be arranged for your group, simply contact the owner directly and outline your interests and requests. The owner is incredibly helpful and very well connected to set things up for you. Previous guests have visited local art studios, taken part in art workshops and cookery classes, been on guided walks/hikes, ventured out deep-sea fishing, tried clay pigeon shooting and been out stalking as well as fly fishing on nearby estates. In addition to activities, the owner can arrange for catering at Craiglea Lodge and a personal local top-ranking chef for days or durations of stays at the property. Please just ask the owner for help. Obviously additional fees will apply for anything organised, to be paid to owner/locally.
The accommodation itself is large and spread across two deatched buildings: the Main House and a converted barn. The pool, Jacuzzi and sauna are situated in the Main House. Craiglea Lodge is incredibly versatile and can sleep up twenty people. It’s an excellent choice for a wide range of gatherings, whether family or friend focused.

Seaview Cottage lives up to its name, the view from this lovely cottage is jaw-droppingly good. The North Sea is vast and wild up in these parts with amazing sea birds and marine mammals visiting the shores. You’ll be surprised, but from Seaview Cottage you may have the chance to spot dolphins, porpoises, other species of whale and many, many species of birds. It’s a nature lovers dream to be based at Seaview Cottage, it really is. Bring your binoculars, telescopes and long lenses for cameras as the cottage is situated perfectly in place that the Northern Lights can be seen dancing above the Cottage in the Winter!
Situated in the hamlet of Latheron Seaview Cottage is not only well placed from a natural beauty point of view, but also from a strategic view too. The road at Latheron splits with roads going north-east to John O’Groats and north-west to Thurso. Basing yourself at Seaview Cottage is an excellent choice to explore the many wonders of the far north of Scotland. The NC500 passes the cottage and will transport you to some of the best beaches in Europe (Dunnet, Melvich, Strathy, Reiss Sands), outlying Munros and many, many interesting places and sights. We recommend getting to Duncansby Head near John O’Groats to spot puffins and other sea birds, as well as more opportunities for those Orca-hunters amongst you; also, a visit to the Castle of Mey is a must. And we encourage visitors to get out on boat trips from Wick or Thurso to get closer to bird colonies and marine mammals already mentioned. The Orkney Islands are only a short hop from the north coast, so you also recommend visiting for a day during your stay at Seaview Cottage.
Back to the cottage and the owners have done an amazing job bringing this Seaview Cottage to life. It’s a gem of a place to stay. As soon as you pull up outside, the old stone wall with garden gate draws you in and wins you over. Walking up the path to the cottage you’ll pause and turn to take in the vast expanse of the sea view.

Cranberry Cottage is a single-storey, detached cottage situated in open countryside on the owner’s working croft farm. This generously proportioned two-bedroom cottage has been extensively renovated and provides bright, modern accommodation in a tranquil and private setting. Traditional stone walls surround the gardens and there a lovely views from over the surrounding hills.
Cranberry Cottage has an open plan living space with leather sofa and chairs and a Smart TV in the living area. The large, modern kitchen has plenty cupboard space and a dining table and chairs. There are two generous sized bedrooms with bedside tables in the property; one double bedroom with a kingsize bed and mirrored wardrobes, and one twin. There is also a large modern shower room. Outside is a fully fenced garden mainly laid to lawn and with a gravelled area for private parking.
Cranberry Cottage is located in Caithness with the nearest village of Thrumster just 1½ miles away and has a shop and pub. Wick is 5 miles away with supermarkets, shops, restaurants, pubs and cafés. There is a golf course, a harbour and a distillery that is open to visitors. The cottage is the perfect base to go walking around the area and return to the peacefulness of the location and chill out in the evenings.

Moorhens is set within the grounds of the owners’ property which consist of 37½ acres with its own orchard. The stunning views over the countryside and the rural location mean that it is the perfect place to get away from the hustle and bustle of busy life. Whilst the gardens are shared with other properties on the owners’ grounds you are free to explore. Inside Moorhens there is everything you could need to enjoy your stay making it a home away from home. Fully equipped with a washer/dryer and a dishwasher, the kitchen provides you with everything for a hassle-free and easy holiday, while a table and chairs provide a relaxing dining area with views from the door over the countryside. An additional outdoor seating area also offers the perfect spot for al fresco dining or to relax with a glass of wine of the evening. Moorhens benefits from an air conditioning unit providing cool air in the summer but also heat in the winter providing comfort all year round. Velux windows in the sloped ceilings provide light along with a view of the starry sky at night. Located in the heart of Sussex countryside the property is a short drive away from the village of Herstmonceux with local shops, restaurants and pub. Herstmonceux also boasts its own observatory and science centre along with Herstmonceux castle. Numerous walks around the locality offer a chance to explore the Sussex countryside however nearby towns such as Battle offer the historic Battle Abbey, the home of the Battle of Hastings, along with a range of independent shops and restaurants. Larger towns such as Hailsham offer access to larger high street stores within a short drive. This luxury detached barn is adjacent to the owner’s home and is ideally located for accessing all that Uckfield and surrounding areas have to offer.
The Barn is set in a peaceful setting with parking for two cars. As soon as you enter the barn and step down into the open-plan living space you instantly relax. The décor, lighting, stonework and marble features are throughout The Barn and feel very opulent. On the ground floor you have a well-equipped kitchen, open plan with the living room and dining room. There is dining for four, a TV and sumptuous seating. There is a door leading out to the private garden area with seating for four. Back inside The Barn, the family bathroom has a walk-in shower and is located next to the ground floor master bedroom. The master bedroom has a kingsize bed, high-quality linens and storage space. In the main living space there is a steep staircase leading to the second bedroom. This bedroom features two zip-lock beds which when joined together make a super kingsize bed.
This holiday home is suited to anyone wanting somewhere that is luxurious, peaceful, and close to a lot of amazing places to visit. You might be going to the opera at Glyndebourne or visiting Lewes Castle and Museum. You might have spent the day exploring High Rocks, a 3¼-hectare geological site of special scientific interest West of Tunbridge Wells. If you want to take in the Sussex countryside by train, then Bluebell Steam Railway is a must, or take The Lavender Line at Isfield station for a two-mile round trip between the village of Isfield and Worth Holt. There are some great houses to visit in the area. Anne of Cleves House is less than 5 miles away, and Charleston historic House and Firle Place are less than 20 minutes away. There are lots of trails and countryside to explore either by foot or bike and after a day of seeing all that the area has to offer you get to head back to the tranquillity of The Barn at Lower Morgans House and relax the day away.

The original part of the Toll Cottage dates to the 1800s and some of the original features and beams have been retained. The living room is accessed from the kitchen and has a wood burner and beams. This gorgeous room is a relaxing, peaceful space to end the day with the Smart TV and super comfortable seating. The kitchen has period features, is well-equipped and has a window looking over the garden. Leading upstairs, the staircase is quite steep and takes you to two bedrooms; the main bedroom is beautifully decorated, flooded with lots of natural bright light, with plenty of storage for your belongings. The second bedroom has a single bed and is a bright and inviting space. Either one of these bedrooms will be a superb space for a restful night’s sleep. The family bathroom has fantastic water pressure to wash off the day’s adventures. Outside is the lovely garden with barbecue and sitting area.

Toll Cottage is located in the village of Robertsbridge which is thought to date back to 1176. It is approximately 10 miles north of Hastings and less than 20 miles from the prestigious Royal Tunbridge Wells, where you can experience the culture, beautiful scenery and independent shops. The River Rother runs through the village, and there are many places to visit, including Leeds Castle, 23½ miles, Eastbourne, with its pier, is 20 miles, and Glyndebourne Opera House is less than 25 miles away where you can explore the grounds, have a picnic and take in a show.
The cottage is ideally situated to several National Trust properties including Sissinghurst Castle and Batemans, a 17th century house located in Burwash, East Sussex, and home of Rudyard Kipling. Less than 10 miles away is Bedgebury National Pinetum and Forest, a perfect spot for walkers, cyclists and if you are feeling adventurous, you can explore the treetops with a tree top challenge at Go Ape Bedgebury. Bodiam Castle is within 5 miles and makes an interesting day out. The Cosy Cowshed is wonderfully situated in rural East Sussex on the grounds of a charming Oast house. Boreham Street is a very friendly village with a popular local pub. The property is only a 10-minute drive from Hailsham town which has a variety of supermarkets in addition to other shops and amenities. Battle is also 10 minutes away in the other direction with its range of cafes, restaurants, and shops. The stylish lounge enjoys a wood burner and a Smart TV, with views of the English Channel around 4 miles distant. The bedroom boasts an oak-framed bed with bedside tables and a wardrobe to match. The deep mattress can be turned to provide a warm or a cool night’s sleep. In the spacious kitchen and dining area, guests will find all the appliances they need for the designated chef to rustle up some good food! The property is also proudly eco-friendly. The owners are easy to reach, friendly, and approachable nearby if you need any help or advice.
Situated in the Weald with easy access to Herstmonceux, Battle, Pevensey, Eastbourne, and Hastings. A short drive to the seaside and many castles to visit. Herstmonceux Castle is just a walk away. The excellent local pub is a few yards away and serves food daily. It is popular due to its award-winning nature, so it is recommended to book in advance. A local coffee shop in Herstmonceux is a firm favourite with visitors and locals alike. Lovely countryside walks including the South Downs National Park and the 1066 Country Walk (which passes right by the property). Walkers are wonderfully well catered for, with the property situated on the 1066 Country Walk. Pevensey Castle is a good morning’s walk away, across Pevensey Marshes, while towards the North East, The Ash - a highly recommended pub for great food is under a 2-hour walk, through peaceful, rolling Sussex countryside. The Cowshed is situated adjacent to bus stops for service, generally running hourly through the day (Monday to Saturday) between Hastings and Eastbourne.
