Set on the outskirts of one of Worcestershire’s most beautiful villages, Elmley Castle, nestling below the northern slopes of Bredon Hill in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Lodge at Elmley Meadow is situated on a small holding with sheep and chickens, and is attached to the discreet and friendly owners’ home, with views to Bredon Hill. The property is on an 18-mile cycle route known as ’around the hill’ which encircles Bredon Hill and goes through local villages, there are several footpaths in the area, including one which starts at the property, at the end of the drive.
The village of Elmley Castle has a beautiful tree lined main street with many black and white and old red brick cottages, with a pub at the end which is only half a mile from the lodge. The 11th-century Norman and Medieval castle, where the village derives its name, has long since disappeared but the earthworks still remain in the nearby deer park. The nearby market towns of Pershore and Evesham have a range of shops, restaurants and pubs and are only 3 and 5 miles away, and can also be accessed by the local bus route which departs from outside the village pub.

- Evesham, EnglandLocated near the medieval town of Tewkesbury there is plenty on the doorstep to explore and the M5 is very close by with nearby access to the Cotswolds and Cheltenham. Enjoy the bustling market town of Tewkesbury by day, exquisite waterside walks and theatre shows. Take a leisurely meander in the market town, weave in and out of the Tudor buildings and visit farmers’ markets, antique shops and tea rooms. Pick up a small aperitif and step aboard a river cruise (season permitting) before catching a matinee at the Roses Theatre.
If historic splendour is on the agenda, Tewkesbury is home to a 12th-century abbey, adorned with one of the highest Norman towers in the country, and the largest medieval re-enactment festival in Europe in July. Just a short drive to the other side of town you will find Croft Farm, where you can spend the days on the lake, sailing, swimming, paddle boarding and kayaking. There is even a selection of peddalos for the younger ones. The café at Croft Farm is dog friendly too. Beyond Tewkesbury you will find the famous Cotswolds, and a day out in Chipping Campden is a must. Admire the streets of honey-hued, ‘chocolate box’ houses, boutique shops, pubs and restaurants, plus several castles nearby. There are plenty of on and off-road cycle routes and some family friendly trails to explore.
On days when you want to just be at one with nature, take a trip to the nearby nature reserve - educational and fun for all the family. You will find Regency Cheltenham within 10 miles, great to visit for one of their cultural festivals or a flutter at the races. The village of Oxhill lies in the rolling countryside of south Warwickshire, close to the border of Oxfordshire and the north Cotswolds in the area known as the Vale of the Red Horse. It’s in a great location to see many different areas and attractions as it lies halfway between Stratford-upon-Avon and Banbury.
The beautiful towns and villages of the north Cotswolds can be reached in approximately 10 minutes’ drive where you can explore Chipping Norton, Moreton-in-Marsh, Stow-on-the-Wold or Woodstock, home to Blenheim Palace. The National Trust’s Upton House and Gardens, Charlecote Park, Farnborough and Hidcote are all within easy reach. Compton Verney is just over 5 miles away, where you can discover the art gallery with its many collections and exhibitions, and enjoy the park with its labyrinth, bird hide, pond dipping and playground.
For more outdoor fun, head to Burton Dassett Hills, the perfect country park for walks, flying a kite or eating a picnic whilst admiring the views of rolling hills and open countryside. Within 20-30 minutes’ drive are the market towns of Banbury and Royal Leamington Spa, which are full of high street and independent shops, pubs, cafés, and restaurants.
