Located within the South Downs National Park, in the pretty village of Singleton, The Old Surgery is a self-contained, two bedroom holiday cottage able to facilitate up to four guests. The property forms a small part of Corner Cottage, one of Singleton’s most iconic and historic houses. Dating back to 1731, the whole property has undergone a full restoration. This beautiful listed building has been entirely re-built by local craftsmen and retains many of its original features while encasing state-of-the-art contemporary living.

The wing of the main house was once known by the community as the village surgery. As a nod to its history, it is now called The Old Surgery and has its own separate entrance and French windows that flow onto a bespoke patio, surrounded by the larger walled garden that surrounds the entire house. The owners live in the main house alongside running part of the property as a B&B. The Old Surgery also features a few fun furnishings relating to its medical past. You will find decorative old medicine bottles beautifully displayed behind glass casings in the ground floor bedroom walls, and a vintage medical wall mount which doctors used to put their X-rays on, doubling up as a quirky wall light in the hallway.

The cottage living room has a large wall mounted Smart TV in front of the Swedish style sofa, so that you can snuggle down in front of the wood burner and relax at the end of a long day out exploring West Sussex. The kitchen is open plan with the living room and dining area, and is equipped with everything you will need to self-cater during your stay, when you’re not dining out at one of the local pubs. The cottage has two bedrooms, a ground floor twin bedroom, with zip and link beds so you can have a super kingsize if you prefer, whilst a spacious bedroom occupies the first floor with a double bed at one end and a single day bed at the other for flexible sleeping arrangements. The beautiful bathroom on the ground floor with its highly individual decorative tiles has a small, yet very deep bath which is a sit-down Japanese design. There is also a separate state of the art power shower.

There is a superb choice of activities and places to visit in West Sussex. The village of Singleton is only a short distance from the historic cathedral city of Chichester, and a few minutes’ away from the Goodwood Estate famed for its motor racing, golfing and horse racing. The renowned Cowdray House and Polo Club are also nearby, as well as Petworth House, Arundel Castle, Fishbourne Roman Palace, and Weald and Downland Museums are also nearby. You can spend the day immersing yourself in the best of the counties cultural offerings. Beach 12½ miles. Shop 1½ miles, pub and restaurant 175 yards.

Built in 1790 and sympathetically extended to match in with the character of the original building, Well Cottage sits on a quiet, country lane overlooking fields and open countryside. A cosy, semi-detached character cottage, the inglenook fireplace with roaring wood burner is ideal for curling up in front of after a day out exploring and with the original oak beams overhead. There are bi-folding doors leading outside from the well-equipped kitchen/dining area which is well-placed to allow you to admire the views across the garden and to the duck pond in the field beyond. Upstairs, there is an elegantly finished master en-suite bedroom and a second double and single bedroom which share a bathroom and overlook the quintessential cottage front garden which will be blooming with flowers in the spring. Outside, the enclosed lawn garden with covered pergola, dining patio and barbecue offers the perfect spot to unwind with an al fresco breakfast or dinner, whilst the sun-drenched south facing patio with awning is great for basking in the sunshine.
Situated in a beautiful countryside position, located in the heart of West Sussex and bordering the South Downs Way, picturesque countryside walks and cycling adventures await. The cottage is close to many visitor attractions. A choice of locally renowned, country pubs lie within a 5-minute drive. Sumners Ponds are just a mile away and Fisher’s Farm Park is just 25 minutes drive. The bustling market town of Horsham is nearby, with an array of shops and restaurants, and a 30-minute drive will take you to the scenic Sussex coastline. Beach 17 miles. From the winding front path, a circular boot room reveals the entrance hall with a cosy reading corner and stairs to the first floor. To the left of the hall is an attractive beamed sitting room where deep, comfortable sofas, low level lighting, large Smart TV and an open fireplace create a relaxed, welcoming ambience. Across the hall, the long living room has a sofa and leads to the spacious kitchen at the far end of the house. With a huge island breakfast bar, triple electric Aga, an upholstered pew bench and doors to the garden, it is a fabulous space to find inspiration for a dinner party. A convenient utility room lies to the side, and set off the sitting room at the centre of the house, the orangery has a long dining table and corner sofas facing out into the garden through French doors. A lovely spot for canapés, with the evening sun casting its dappled light through the trees.
Upstairs on the first floor are four bedrooms, two bathrooms and a study. The vast triple-aspect master features a striking four-poster, kingsize bed and garden views, and the second bedroom has a double bed with dressing area. Bedrooms three and four have zip and link beds that can be set up as doubles on request. On the second floor is a hidden delight tucked out of the way from the main social areas: a TV/games den complete with bean bags. The perfect hideaway for the kids to enjoy their own private holiday space.
Outside, to the front of the house is a car port with table tennis, and a lawn with bistro table. To the rear, a huge patio with dining and lounge furniture leads out to extensive, securely enclosed gardens fringed with mature trees and shrubs. A magnificent home with space for all the family plus one dog to roam, play and relax, this inviting home is perfect for extended families and small, responsible groups.
North Hurst sits on the edge of the quiet, leafy village of West Chiltington Common which lies in the lea of the South Downs. A traditional village pub is just a 5-minute walk away, and just opposite is a micro brewery. A mile up the road, West Chiltington is a hidden treasure, full of charming cottages, winding lanes and friendly shops and pubs. It offers a quiet charm and a 12th-century church, and like many Sussex villages provides a tranquil retreat only 50 miles south of London.
The area sits in the heartland of the renowned Sussex wine region, with the famous Nyetimber Vineyard just a couple of miles up the road. Also nearby are Nutbourne and Ambriel, along with Upperton, Stopham and Kinsbrook. The South Downs National Park is a mile from the village, West Chiltington Common being about half way along its entire length and not too far from Chanctonbury Ring. The Wildbrooks at nearby Pulborough offers many excellent walks along the banks of the River Arun, and uninterrupted views south towards the Downs. Three miles south in the direction of Storrington at the foot of the South Downs, Parham House is a magnificent Elizabethan home. To the west is Petworth House and deer park, landscaped by Capability Brown. Petworth itself is full of quaint houses and cottages, antique shops and tearooms. Close by is the West Sussex Golf Club with golf courses at Goodwood and Cowdray. North Hurst makes a great base to enjoy any of these as it is within a 30-minute drive of them all.

From this advantageous location you can follow the promenade all the way to Brighton if you want, easily done on such a beautiful stretch of coastline! The Goring-by-sea Greensward, a fantastic 2 mile stretch of village green, is only a few minutes’ walk away and is perfect for picnics and barbecues or a game of football or cricket. The South Downs National Park is only a 10-minute drive and a perfect day out for the family, and the local leisure centre has great swimming facilities for adults and children alike. The WOW (Worthington Observation Wheel) offers stunning long-range views of all these wonderful Sussex coastline spots. The historic town of Arundel is only a few miles away, the picturesque streets and Castle Cathedral are the beginnings of a fine day out, finishing with a trip to the Arundel Wildfowl and Wetland Nature Reserve. To the east is the bustling city of Brighton, promising a great evening out, and 15 minutes to the north is Cissbury Ring, where you will see impressive panoramic views over Sussex. The famous Goodwood Estate is only 30 minutes further up the A27, offering a range of activities including the motor circuit racecourse, the aerodrome and a championship golf course. Not forgetting the Festival of Speed, the Goodwood Revival and the Glorious Goodwood festivals.
The owner is extremely welcoming and more than happy to help arrange access to the nearby Sailing Club. Marine House will be a place for some wonderful memory making and photo opportunities! Beach 50 yards, shop, pub and restaurants all within ½ mile.

Dating back to the 1600s, The Old Dairy justifies its name. However, it has been beautifully renovated to a high specification with modern and luxurious touches throughout, and is now a wonderful self-catering cottage for two in the heart of the West Sussex countryside.
The kitchen has been cleverly designed with a large hatch overlooking the sitting room area, the perfect way to both show off your culinary skills and enjoy the warmth of the wood burner roaring away in the corner. The conservatory provides a lovely sunny room to dine or doze in on a warm summer’s day, with gorgeous views over the paddocks. After dinner you can curl up, open a book or simply enjoy each other’s company in this relaxed country retreat. If you would like use of a freestanding fridge/freezer please advise before you arrive so access to it can be organised.
Why not bring your horses? This cottage benefits from its own stabling on site and, what’s more, the conservatory looks out over the paddocks where your horses can graze. Equestrian facilities are on offer for up to three horses (by prior arrangement at an additional cost): DIY livery including stabling, grazing paddocks, a lockable tack room and large lorry/horsebox parking on site. Centrally located for all things equestrian: hunts, several competition centres such as Coombelands,Hickstead, Goodwoord, polo clubs (Cowdray, Knepp and Hurtwood), flat racing, point to points at Parham or just hacks (including on the beach). You can explore the countryside on horseback as well as walking and/or cycling in the area.
Why not head out in the morning and return for an invigorating shower in the stunning white-tiled wet room, or take a picnic and wander into the evening skies to watch the sunset with a cold bottle of bubbles. Either way, a wonderful holiday experience in this quiet part of rural Sussex.

Set in most picturesque and private cottage gardens, this detached cottage is just two miles from Arundel and has an abundance of footpaths to the South Downs on the doorstep. From the gardens and upstairs windows there is the most glorious outlook and the garden beckons guests to relax and enjoy those lazy summer days. The cottage is bright and traditionally furnished and is a comfortable size for up to six guests. It has three upstairs bedrooms the master bedroom has a kingsize bed with an en-suite shower room. The second bedroom has a standard double bed and the third bedroom with a dual outlook, gives a fresh and bright feel and is fitted with twin beds, the family bathroom completes the property. The gardens here just encourage and welcome you outside and offer complete privacy. They are neatly maintained offering many areas to meander around and explore. There is a raised path which guests need to take care when using that really open up the views over the Sussex Downs.

There are many attractive period properties in the village and it’s a delight to wander through, including the Norman Church of St Mary’s where you can walk through the church grounds and the views quickly open out onto the Arun Valley and the South Downs. This area is ideal for walking and from the lower slopes of the Downs there are wonderful views to the coast and to the east and west. Arundel two miles away is a historic market town dominated by the symbolic castle that can be seen to the south of Burpham. It offers a plethora of craft and antique shops as well as restaurants and tea rooms. It’s a great place to visit and just enjoy the hospitality during any day of the week.

Arundel Castle is the seat of the Dukes of Norfolk and is set in 40 acres of sweeping grounds and gardens. The castle has been seasonally open to visitors for nearly 200 years and is one of the great treasure houses of England and is home to priceless works of art in stunning rooms. Climbing the 131 steps to the Keep which dates from the 11th Century to take in the views over Arundel and The South Downs is definitely worth the effort. Beyond the castle grounds is Arundel Park which is clearly visible across the valley from the cottage. The River Arun winds its way around the town and is a magnet for wildlife. With more than 60 acres of ponds lakes and reed beds at Arundel Wetland Trust attracts some of the world’s most spectacular ducks geese and swans. The best way to enjoy the river is on a river cruise stopping off at the pub for a bite to eat or just some liquid refreshments.

Further afield Climping Beach and Littlehampton’s West Beach are only a short drive away. This is a beautiful unspoilt length of beach of Special Scientific Interest and at the eastern end beside the mouth of the River Arun is the West Beach. Goodwood and Fontwell racecourses are nearby along with the cathedral city of Chichester with its excellent Festival Theatre noted for not only the quality of productions but also the fact many world premieres are featured as well. If you fancy a day in the city, Arundel mainline station is on a direct route to London so why not mix the cosmopolitan capital with this great place to stay.

There is plenty to do in the area, with Arundel close by, famous for its castle, lanes with artefacts, books and antique shops, plus Wildfowl and Wetlands Wildlife Centre, Pulborough Brooks RSPB and popular beaches at The Witterings, Worthing and Bognor. Also the easy driving distance to Chichester with its cathedral, festival theatre, leisure facilities and Goodwood or Fontwell Races, or Midhurst with Cowdray Polo and shops. There are many scenic walks including in the South Downs National Park. Also within easy driving distance (or train ride) is the cosmopolitan city of Brighton to the east, and Portsmouth to the west, which has the Spinnaker Tower, ferry trips to the Isle of Wight and designer retail shopping. National Trust homes and gardens, such as Goodwood House, Parham Park, Royal Pavilion, Petworth House, Stanstead Park and East Dean can all be easily reached.
