The country lane leading to the property emerges into peaceful countryside dotted with horses, cows and pheasants. You feel the peace and tranquillity as soon as you pull up to the gravel driveway of The Dog and Trout.
Upon entering the front door of this flint-clad barn conversion, you will find an open concept living area that contains a fully equipped kitchen as well as a living and dining area. Featuring granite worktops and country-style cabinets, the kitchen has all the amenities you could want. The dining area is perfect for a cosy evening meal, set in the middle of the room and made from original beams - it is a real feature in the room; a wood burner completes the room. This is perfect for a chilly day. The open plan living area is welcoming and luxurious, a comfortable space to relax in after a long country walk. The French doors lead out to a patio area where you can enjoy alfresco dining and drinking while enjoying the peace of the English country garden. Scattered with fruit trees and surrounded by lush trees, the secluded garden is the perfect spot for relaxing. The garden will delight the whole family and furry friends alike.
Back inside the house, as you walk up the stairs to the second floor you will be blown away by the style and quality of fixtures and fittings. Featuring two bedrooms, both with kingsize beds, Smart TVs, and en-suite bathrooms furnished to the highest standards. Everything about The Dog and Trout is luxurious, from the stunning décor to the quality bed linen, this really is a place to unwind and enjoy the ambiance of the Sussex countryside. The owners are friendly and will pop by and say hello on your first evening.
You will be spoiled for choice when it comes to activities in the area. It is a great location for walking or cycling, lying between the South Downs Way and Monarchs Way within the South Downs. There are many sites of historic or natural interest to visit, including the historic town of Arundel, Chactonbury and Cissbury Rings and the Weald and Downland Museum. Beaches and water sports are nearby at Worthing, Shoresham-by-sea, Ferring and Littlehampton, and shops and restaurants can be found locally in the village of Findon or further afield in Brighton or Horsham.

Located within the South Downs National Park, in the pretty village of Singleton, The Old Surgery is a self-contained, two bedroom holiday cottage able to facilitate up to four guests. The property forms a small part of Corner Cottage, one of Singleton’s most iconic and historic houses. Dating back to 1731, the whole property has undergone a full restoration. This beautiful listed building has been entirely re-built by local craftsmen and retains many of its original features while encasing state-of-the-art contemporary living.

The wing of the main house was once known by the community as the village surgery. As a nod to its history, it is now called The Old Surgery and has its own separate entrance and French windows that flow onto a bespoke patio, surrounded by the larger walled garden that surrounds the entire house. The owners live in the main house alongside running part of the property as a B&B. The Old Surgery also features a few fun furnishings relating to its medical past. You will find decorative old medicine bottles beautifully displayed behind glass casings in the ground floor bedroom walls, and a vintage medical wall mount which doctors used to put their X-rays on, doubling up as a quirky wall light in the hallway.

The cottage living room has a large wall mounted Smart TV in front of the Swedish style sofa, so that you can snuggle down in front of the wood burner and relax at the end of a long day out exploring West Sussex. The kitchen is open plan with the living room and dining area, and is equipped with everything you will need to self-cater during your stay, when you’re not dining out at one of the local pubs. The cottage has two bedrooms, a ground floor twin bedroom, with zip and link beds so you can have a super kingsize if you prefer, whilst a spacious bedroom occupies the first floor with a double bed at one end and a single day bed at the other for flexible sleeping arrangements. The beautiful bathroom on the ground floor with its highly individual decorative tiles has a small, yet very deep bath which is a sit-down Japanese design. There is also a separate state of the art power shower.

There is a superb choice of activities and places to visit in West Sussex. The village of Singleton is only a short distance from the historic cathedral city of Chichester, and a few minutes’ away from the Goodwood Estate famed for its motor racing, golfing and horse racing. The renowned Cowdray House and Polo Club are also nearby, as well as Petworth House, Arundel Castle, Fishbourne Roman Palace, and Weald and Downland Museums are also nearby. You can spend the day immersing yourself in the best of the counties cultural offerings. Beach 12½ miles. Shop 1½ miles, pub and restaurant 175 yards.

A cosy, semi-detached character cottage, the inglenook fireplace with roaring wood burner is ideal for curling up in front of after a day out exploring and with the original oak beams overhead. There are bi-folding doors leading outside from the well-equipped kitchen/dining area which is well-placed to allow you to admire the views across the garden and to the duck pond in the field beyond. Upstairs, there is an elegantly finished master en-suite bedroom and a second double and single bedroom which share a bathroom and overlook the quintessential cottage front garden which will be blooming with flowers in the spring. Outside, the enclosed lawn garden with covered pergola, dining patio and barbecue offers the perfect spot to unwind with an al fresco breakfast or dinner, whilst the sun-drenched south facing patio with awning is great for basking in the sunshine.

The cottage is close to many visitor attractions. A choice of locally renowned, country pubs lie within a 5-minute drive. Sumners Ponds are just a mile away and Fisher’s Farm Park is just 25 minutes drive. The bustling market town of Horsham is nearby, with an array of shops and restaurants, and a 30-minute drive will take you to the scenic Sussex coastline. Beach 17 miles. From this advantageous location you can follow the promenade all the way to Brighton if you want, easily done on such a beautiful stretch of coastline! The Goring-by-sea Greensward, a fantastic 2 mile stretch of village green, is only a few minutes’ walk away and is perfect for picnics and barbecues or a game of football or cricket. The South Downs National Park is only a 10-minute drive and a perfect day out for the family, and the local leisure centre has great swimming facilities for adults and children alike. The WOW (Worthington Observation Wheel) offers stunning long-range views of all these wonderful Sussex coastline spots. The historic town of Arundel is only a few miles away, the picturesque streets and Castle Cathedral are the beginnings of a fine day out, finishing with a trip to the Arundel Wildfowl and Wetland Nature Reserve. To the east is the bustling city of Brighton, promising a great evening out, and 15 minutes to the north is Cissbury Ring, where you will see impressive panoramic views over Sussex. The famous Goodwood Estate is only 30 minutes further up the A27, offering a range of activities including the motor circuit racecourse, the aerodrome and a championship golf course. Not forgetting the Festival of Speed, the Goodwood Revival and the Glorious Goodwood festivals.
