Lacock features in Harry Potter, Downton Abbey and Pride and Prejudice, and Castle Combe was the backdrop for War Horse. Chippenham is an old market town with good shopping facilities and Devizes is on the Kennet and Avon canal with the famous Caen locks. Bradford on Avon is often referred to as a ‘mini Bath’ with splendid Georgian architecture and a bustling community. The Roman spa city of Bath itself is a short drive and a must visit for a day out, with many famous sights to explore such as the museums, the abbey, Pulteney Bridge and the Roman baths to name but a few. Bowood House has magnificent gardens and adventure playground, and the famous ancient sites and stone circles at Stonehenge and Avebury are well worth a visit. Swindon’s famous railway museum and outlet shopping are 20 miles.

Set in a peaceful rural location on the borders of Dorset and Wiltshire, this holiday property is situated on Whitebridge Farm, which is not a working farm but is ideal for a family touring holiday with excellent walking and cycling in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Set in 10 acres along with 8 other cottages, they are grouped around an attractive grassed courtyard and were once stables for the owner’s impressive farmhouse (built in 1872). For those who enjoy history, visit Stonehenge, Woodhenge, Durrington Walls, Avebury Henge and stone circles, Alexander Keiller Museum, Andover Iron Age Museum, and many castles dotted around the area.
