The main house is a unique, Grade II listed, Georgian manor house nestled in 25 acres of Wiltshire countryside. This beautiful detached property features a games room in the basement, a ’secret’ walled garden and well-equipped accommodation for families, friends or couples who enjoy holidaying together, and with 9 bedrooms and 10 bathrooms, this makes the ideal choice. Set in private grounds, this charming house has a modern, eclectic, English country decor theme throughout. For those who prefer ground floor accommodation, there is a double bed in the library, which has an en-suite, with a shower and toilet. This shower room has also been designed as a place for washing down your four-legged friends after country walks. The kitchen centres around an Aga, and has a farmhouse-style table, along with all the facilities needed to enjoy a self-catering holiday. On the first floor, known as the Georgian Wing, there are 5 bedrooms, all with a private bathroom. Two of these have super kingsize, timber beds, two have zip and link super kingsize beds, and the other has 2 single beds with matching trundle beds, sleeping up to 4. This room has use of the bathroom just across the landing, while the other 4 bedrooms have en-suites. The Victorian Wing was originally designed as a nursery and servant’s quarters, which has now been made into a further 4 bedrooms, each with their own en-suite. Each of these rooms consist of a super kingsize zip and link beds, two of which are typically set up as twin beds and two as super kings. Guests can enjoy exclusive use of the grounds, which include a walled ’secret’ garden next to the house. There is also a large lawned area for outdoor dining, sunbathing, reading and relaxing. For those who enjoy a walk, there is a 1.5km woodland path behind the house. To the front of the house, an additional large lawned area can be used for games with the children. For those who may be celebrating a special occasion, or perhaps looking to treat yourself, a private chef can be arranged to cook some or all meals during your stay (by arrangement with owner, at cost). There is also a 1-bedroom annexe called The Nook which is also available on the Henge Estate and can be booked under a separate listing.
If you fancy venturing out, Stonehenge is just over 5 minutes’ away, and Salisbury is just over 20 minutes’. The local village is half a mile away and has a convenience store, a pub serving local ales and a restaurant. There are many places to visit within easy reach including Bath, Marlborough, Winchester, Southampton and Shaftesbury. For those who enjoy history, visit Stonehenge, Woodhenge, Durrington Walls, Avebury Henge and stone circles, Alexander Keiller Museum, Andover Iron Age Museum, and many castles dotted around the area. Longleat Safari and Adventure Park, Paultons Park and Peppa Pig World and Finkley Down Farm are within reach, and for those who enjoy outdoor activity, they can book horse riding, fishing, art, golf, festivals and markets, there is plenty within a short drive. This charming, single-storey, detached annex is set in a small village just 1½ miles from the town of Chippenham with its larger stores, restaurants and bars, and within easy reach of the M4. Chippenham train station is less than 2 miles away, the city of Bath, famous for its Roman Baths and beautiful architecture, is just 30 minutes’ away by car. Nearby National Trust properties can be found within a short drive, as well as other stately homes. Head to Longleat Safari Park or Bristol Zoo, both under an hour away. If you can bare to tear yourself away there is plenty to do within a few miles, from visiting the stunning Cathedral City of Salisbury or taking in the sights of the iconic Stonehenge or Avebury rings.

This detached self-contained holiday lodge, close to the owner’s home, is situated in the most idyllic place on the grounds of Rushmore Estate, where King John’s House resides. This is a private 8000-acre estate and working arable farm, and as guests you are allowed to use the estate and grounds whenever you wish. There is also on-site golf, coarse fishing and riding stables. Set on the edge of Tollard Royal, which is a charming medieval village with a pub that dates back to 1300.

The lodge is perfect for a romantic break of just relaxing and taking in the beautiful scenery, or it can be an active break with all that this estate has to offer. There are also many more sights to see, including nearby Salisbury with its famous cathedral. Also worth a visit are Stonehenge and Avebury with their mystical stone circles. This Grade II listed detached thatched cottage is situated in the churchyard overlooking St James Church and Avebury Manor, and is within a few minutes’ walk from the Neolithic Avebury Stone Circle. The cottage dates from at least 1724 and was built with a timber frame and wattle and daub construction. It has a thatched roof, original low beamed ceilings and is painted with lime wash throughout. The living room hosts a wood burner. The original property was extended at both ends and became two cottages, and in the 1970s the current owner reverted it back to one larger cottage. It is set away from the High Street in a very quiet position, with a private garden where you can relax and enjoy the ambience of this mystical village (please note the garden may not be completely dog proof).
The UNESCO World Heritage Site and National Trust village of Avebury has a manor house and gardens to explore along an archeology museum detailing the history of the stone circle and surrounding area. There are several walks from Avebury including well-marked footpaths to Silbury Hill, Windmill Hill, West Kennet Long Barrow and the Ridgeway. The White Horse Trail also passes through the village, as does the National Cycle Network route 403.
The historic market town of Devizes is a 15 minute drive away with the Kennet and Avon Canal and Caen Hill flight of locks to visit and you can also take in a tour of the Wadsworth Brewery. Beautiful Marlborough is also a 15 minute drive away, with interesting shops to visit on the wide High Street. Savernake Forest is a further 5 minutes drive from Marlborough, dating back to pre-Tudor times there are 4,500 acres of woods to explore.
Further afield there is the city of Bath to visit along with the Roman Baths and the American Museum. For more ancient monuments, Stonehenge and museum is not to be missed. Other National Trust sites nearby are the gardens at Stourhead, the house and deer park of Dyrham and the historic Abbey and village of Lacock, home of the birthplace of photography and the setting for many films, including Harry Potter. The pub and community shop are a 5 minute walk away and the nearest supermarkets are in Marlborough and Devizes.

With many events throughout the year, the property is an ideal base for the horse trials at Badminton, Highgrove House and Gatcombe Park.

A truly rural spot, yet just one mile from the A303 and easy access to the many sights and attractions within the area including Stonehenge with its mystical stone circle, Avebury stone circle and Salisbury with its cathedral. The shopping town of Shaftesbury is within 20 minutes, where visitors flock to see the famous cobbled ‘Gold Hill’. The small towns of Tisbury and Hindon have local amenities and good pubs, both within 2 miles. The seaside resort of Bournemouth is just 40 miles, and the New Forest within an easy drive. It is also a convenient base for visiting Bath, Bristol, Stourhead, Longleat House and Safari Park, Wilton House and grounds, and the south coast. Golf courses nearby. Beach 40 miles.
