Ideally located for exploring the delights of North Devon and Exmoor, Chaffcutters (ref. UKC1406), Wheelwrights (ref. UKC1407) and Chapel Cottage (ref. HOOM) are the perfect base for your holiday.
Chaffcutters (ref. UKC1406) and Wheelwrights (ref. UKC1407) were converted from an old stone barn, the properties still have a couple of clues to their past life. The well-appointed cottages, with their enclosed courtyard gardens are located in the hamlet of Kentisbury Ford.
Chapel Cottage (ref. HOOM) is a single storey, detached holiday cottage makes an ideal base from which to explore the beautiful North Devon countryside. The cottage has been thoughtfully converted, and the enclosed patio is an ideal suntrap from which to enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
From here, you are never very far from the attractions that make north Devon a great holiday destination. Whether you are a couple with a dog or a young family, there is much to see and do in the local area. The stunning, sandy beaches at Woolacombe, Croyde and Saunton are a must during your stay where you can learn to surf or hopefully, top up your tan. There are many other coves and bays at Combe Martin, Lee Bay and Hele Bay which are ideal for rock pooling. Towards Lynton and Lynmouth there is dramatic scenery as Exmoor meets the coast, from the plunging cliffs at Countisbury Head to the beauty of the Valley of the Rocks. There is the Victoria Cliff Railway connecting Lynton to Lynmouth and also access to the Southwest Coast Path. At Ilfracombe, there is bustling harbourside and the Tunnels Beaches. The regional town of Barnstaple has a good range of shops and amenities including the must-see historic Pannier market. For some real holiday excitement, a trip to Watermouth Castle, Combe Martin Wildlife Park or the Big Sheep will certainly make somebodies holiday. There are National Trust properties at Arlington, Knightshayes and Castle Drogo and the RHS gardens at Rosemoor are certainly worth the journey. There is cycling on the Tarka Trail, golf, horse riding and fishing all available locally. Shop 500 yards, pub 1½ miles and restaurant 750 yards.

Located in stunning Exmoor National Park and just 55 minutes from Exeter, this beautiful, semi-detached, Grade II thatched cottage is situated a few steps away from a pub, which is also owned by the cottage’s owner. Here you can indulge in some tasty fayre made with locally sourced fresh produce or simply pop along for a drink or two in traditional and comfortable surroundings.
The accommodation comprises three bedrooms on the first floor; a super kingsize and main bathroom with a clawfoot bath and a walk-in wardrobe, which are accessed via the first staircase on one side of the cottage, and bunk bedroom and double room, both benefiting from a ‘Jack and Jill’ style en-suite shower room, with a double size rain shower cubicle. These rooms are accessed via a quirky spiral-style staircase so some care should be taken going up and down. There are two characterful reception rooms, one with a double sofa bed and a Smart TV, and the other a comfortable snug where you can escape to and enjoy the gas wood burner. There’s a handy downstairs toilet and a utility room too. The kitchen has everything you’ll need for your stay including a Smeg coffee machine, toaster and kettle, and a Neff oven and combi microwave. Outside you’ll be able to enjoy the large lawned garden with a lovely patio where you can have al fresco meals or just relax with a drink. To the rear of the cottage there is also a handy bike store.
Exmoor National Park is a walker’s paradise. Or, if you’re more of an energetic type, you can run, cycle or indeed simply relax enjoying the magical night skies of Europe’s first ’Dark Sky Reserve’. The park also has abundant wildlife, including ponies, sheep and red deer that graze the open moorland, and overhead you might see falcons, buzzards and even the rare merlin. The area is also perfect for exploring North Devon with all its attractions, such as the many rugged coastal towns and quaint villages like beautiful Lynton and Lynmouth, and stunning cliff top sites such as Valley of the Rocks. The location is also perfect for exploring the rest of north Somerset, and the beautiful city of Exeter is just 55 minutes or so by car. Beach 11½ miles.

The Linhay is a one-bedroom holiday home, newly renovated for 2023 and located just a 10-minute drive from the historic town of Bridgwater in Somerset, at the foot of the Quantock Hills, England’s first designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Ideally located for enjoying superb walking in the peaceful countryside of the Quantock Hills, this ground-floor property benefits from free parking, wheelchair access, electric gates at the entrance, an open plan living space, a comfortable kingsize bed with a deep sleep mattress and a beautiful bathroom with a spa bath and walk-in shower.
A shower seat with arms and adjustable height is also available on request. On entering The Linhay, guests will be greeted by the spacious open-plan kitchen, dining and living area which has a light and airy feel with patio doors opening out with views of the surrounding fields. The stylish kitchen is fully equipped with all the mod-cons, and the dining area is a great space to enjoy a family meal. After a fun-filled day exploring Somerset, you can kick back on the plush sofa and relax while watching your favourite movie on the Smart TV in front of the cosy electric fireplace.
The beautifully furnished bedroom has a kingsize bed, built-in wardrobes and a chest of drawers. The bathroom next door is fitted with a spa bathtub and walk-in shower for convenience. Stepping outside, the patio area isn’t enclosed but it’s a real suntrap and has a bistro table and chairs making it ideal for guests to unwind after a busy day exploring and walking the coastal paths. The Wi-Fi has been upgraded to a satellite high-speed internet connection with Starlink.
The local town of Bridgwater is 3 miles away, and it is home to many local attractions including Blake Museum which has exhibits on Bridgwater history, archaeology and naval commander Robert Blake in a 16th century home. Also nearby is Hestercombe House, a historic country house in the Quantock Hills.
To the north, 14 miles away is the fossil hunting beach at Kilve, and the seaside resorts of Dunster, Burnham-on-Sea, Minehead and Watchet are all within easy reach. To the south, there is Lyme Regis, Sidmouth and Seaton just to name a few all on the south coast. The lovely cathedral and Bishop’s Palace at Wells, Dunster Castle, the county town of Taunton, and Street with its Clarks Village shopping outlet, are a short drive as are the glories of Exmoor National Park. Here, as well as a spectacular coast, visitors will find Badgworthy Water, home to the legendary Doones, the unique cliff railway between Lynton and Lynmouth, Polock Weir’s harbour, and the popular beauty spot of Watersmeet. For retail therapy, visit the cities of Exeter, Bath and Bristol, all only a short drive away.

Greenacres is a detached bungalow extensively updated by the owners offering comfortable, quality accommodation.
Chittlehampton is a traditional north Devon village (between Barnstaple and South Molton) and the first village where the Saxons settled during their 8th century invasion of Devon. At its heart is The Square, a wide open space sloping upwards; the outline has hardly changed since. Lovely St. Hieritha’s Church was completely rebuilt between 1470 and 1520 on the site of the earlier cruciform structure and dominates the local skyline. Many licensed premises survived well into 19th century providing a place of refreshment and rest for the many pilgrims; only one extremely popular pub remains today serving lovely traditional pub fayre in a warm, friendly environment.
The village is perfectly located for exploring North Devon and its attractions: Exmoor National Park with its magical night skies in Europe’s first ’Dark Sky Reserve’; the many rugged coastal towns and quaint villages such as Lynton & Lynmouth; Ilfracombe and the world-famous Clovelly Village with their awe-inspiring scenery. The many family attractions include the Big Sheep and Milky Way theme parks, Dartington Crystal Factory, Tapeley Park and RHS Garden Rosemoor. Nearby Barnstaple offers many indoor activity centres for families including a leisure centre with swimming pool, tennis centre and soft play area for smaller children. The fantastic South West Coastal Path runs through the region’s rugged coastline and is perfect for walkers and view seekers offering 90 miles of stunning walks. The popular Tarka Trail, accessed from the town centre, provides the unique opportunity to follow a disused railway line on foot or by bicycle to enjoy some of Devon’s finest countryside and river scenery, passing through Fremington Quay with its excellent café, Instow with its estuary beach and view towards the lovely fishing village of Appledore onto Bideford and beyond. Royal Oak Farm is a detached, thatched holiday cottage full of character, situated in the heart of Winsford, one of Exmoor’s prettiest villages. Some of the original parts of the cottage date back to the 14th century. There is generous living space and a large enclosed garden to enjoy. Winsford is located in the heart of Exmoor National Park. There is an inviting pub next to the cottage and a local shop within walking distance. The cottage is surrounded by the majesty of Exmoor and there is easy access to some spectacular country walks on the moorland with an extensive network of well marked footpaths. Dulverton is located 6 miles away and has a wider range of shops, restaurants and tea rooms. A visit to Tarr Steps and Dunkery Beacon, highest point on Exmoor, are some of the highlights. Wimball Lake is a short drive away where you can enjoy the wildlife that surrounds the lake, or enjoy sailing, canoeing or angling on the lake. Other local attractions that may be of interest are the village and castle at Dunster, the West Somerset Railway at Minehead and the villages of Porlock Weir, Lynton and Lynmouth.
