Over the two upper floors you will find a further living room with views over the harbour and three comfortable bedrooms, two of which are en-suite, and one with access to its own bathroom. Located right in the heart of Ilfracombe, Blue Beach House is very conveniently located with all the local shops, restaurants and other local amenities within easy walking distance of the house. Seek out Damian Hirst’s ’Verity’ sculpture - a great topic of conversation. The Victorian Tunnels Beaches are worth a visit and are also a sought after wedding venue. A walk up to St Nicholas Chapel will give you a great view over the harbour and town. Enjoy a spot of crabbing from the pier and there a numerous sightseeing and fishing trips leaving from the harbour.
During your stay, there is plenty to see and do in the local area and slightly further afield. Good days out include Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park, Watermouth Castle and the Lynton to Lynmouth cliff railway. At Croyde and Woolacombe you will find some of the best and cleanest surf beaches in the country as well as many smaller coves and bays. Exmoor is a short distance away and on a clear day the views can be spectacular. There are National Trust properties at Arlington and Knightshayes and the RHS gardens at Rosemoor, Great Torrington. Located in stunning Exmoor National Park and just 55 minutes from Exeter, this beautiful, semi-detached, Grade II thatched cottage is situated a few steps away from a pub, which is also owned by the cottage’s owner. Here you can indulge in some tasty fayre made with locally sourced fresh produce or simply pop along for a drink or two in traditional and comfortable surroundings.
The accommodation comprises three bedrooms on the first floor; a super kingsize and main bathroom with a clawfoot bath and a walk-in wardrobe, which are accessed via the first staircase on one side of the cottage, and bunk bedroom and double room, both benefiting from a ‘Jack and Jill’ style en-suite shower room, with a double size rain shower cubicle. These rooms are accessed via a quirky spiral-style staircase so some care should be taken going up and down. There are two characterful reception rooms, one with a double sofa bed and a Smart TV, and the other a comfortable snug where you can escape to and enjoy the gas wood burner. There’s a handy downstairs toilet and a utility room too. The kitchen has everything you’ll need for your stay including a Smeg coffee machine, toaster and kettle, and a Neff oven and combi microwave. Outside you’ll be able to enjoy the large lawned garden with a lovely patio where you can have al fresco meals or just relax with a drink. To the rear of the cottage there is also a handy bike store.
Exmoor National Park is a walker’s paradise. Or, if you’re more of an energetic type, you can run, cycle or indeed simply relax enjoying the magical night skies of Europe’s first ’Dark Sky Reserve’. The park also has abundant wildlife, including ponies, sheep and red deer that graze the open moorland, and overhead you might see falcons, buzzards and even the rare merlin. The area is also perfect for exploring North Devon with all its attractions, such as the many rugged coastal towns and quaint villages like beautiful Lynton and Lynmouth, and stunning cliff top sites such as Valley of the Rocks. The location is also perfect for exploring the rest of north Somerset, and the beautiful city of Exeter is just 55 minutes or so by car. Beach 11½ miles.

The Linhay is a one-bedroom holiday home, newly renovated for 2023 and located just a 10-minute drive from the historic town of Bridgwater in Somerset, at the foot of the Quantock Hills, England’s first designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Ideally located for enjoying superb walking in the peaceful countryside of the Quantock Hills, this ground-floor property benefits from free parking, wheelchair access, electric gates at the entrance, an open plan living space, a comfortable kingsize bed with a deep sleep mattress and a beautiful bathroom with a spa bath and walk-in shower.
A shower seat with arms and adjustable height is also available on request. On entering The Linhay, guests will be greeted by the spacious open-plan kitchen, dining and living area which has a light and airy feel with patio doors opening out with views of the surrounding fields. The stylish kitchen is fully equipped with all the mod-cons, and the dining area is a great space to enjoy a family meal. After a fun-filled day exploring Somerset, you can kick back on the plush sofa and relax while watching your favourite movie on the Smart TV in front of the cosy electric fireplace.
The beautifully furnished bedroom has a kingsize bed, built-in wardrobes and a chest of drawers. The bathroom next door is fitted with a spa bathtub and walk-in shower for convenience. Stepping outside, the patio area isn’t enclosed but it’s a real suntrap and has a bistro table and chairs making it ideal for guests to unwind after a busy day exploring and walking the coastal paths. The Wi-Fi has been upgraded to a satellite high-speed internet connection with Starlink.
The local town of Bridgwater is 3 miles away, and it is home to many local attractions including Blake Museum which has exhibits on Bridgwater history, archaeology and naval commander Robert Blake in a 16th century home. Also nearby is Hestercombe House, a historic country house in the Quantock Hills.
To the north, 14 miles away is the fossil hunting beach at Kilve, and the seaside resorts of Dunster, Burnham-on-Sea, Minehead and Watchet are all within easy reach. To the south, there is Lyme Regis, Sidmouth and Seaton just to name a few all on the south coast. The lovely cathedral and Bishop’s Palace at Wells, Dunster Castle, the county town of Taunton, and Street with its Clarks Village shopping outlet, are a short drive as are the glories of Exmoor National Park. Here, as well as a spectacular coast, visitors will find Badgworthy Water, home to the legendary Doones, the unique cliff railway between Lynton and Lynmouth, Polock Weir’s harbour, and the popular beauty spot of Watersmeet. Greenacres is a detached bungalow extensively updated by the owners offering comfortable, quality accommodation.
Chittlehampton is a traditional north Devon village (between Barnstaple and South Molton) and the first village where the Saxons settled during their 8th century invasion of Devon. At its heart is The Square, a wide open space sloping upwards; the outline has hardly changed since. Lovely St. Hieritha’s Church was completely rebuilt between 1470 and 1520 on the site of the earlier cruciform structure and dominates the local skyline. Many licensed premises survived well into 19th century providing a place of refreshment and rest for the many pilgrims; only one extremely popular pub remains today serving lovely traditional pub fayre in a warm, friendly environment.
The village is perfectly located for exploring North Devon and its attractions: Exmoor National Park with its magical night skies in Europe’s first ’Dark Sky Reserve’; the many rugged coastal towns and quaint villages such as Lynton & Lynmouth; Ilfracombe and the world-famous Clovelly Village with their awe-inspiring scenery. The many family attractions include the Big Sheep and Milky Way theme parks, Dartington Crystal Factory, Tapeley Park and RHS Garden Rosemoor. Nearby Barnstaple offers many indoor activity centres for families including a leisure centre with swimming pool, tennis centre and soft play area for smaller children. For stunning beaches you will be spoilt for choice with Saunton Sands, Woolacombe, Croyde and Westward Ho! Beaches within easy reach by car. Or take a trip across to Lundy Island, home to England’s first statutory Marine Nature Reserve with its unique flora and fauna? The fantastic South West Coastal Path runs through the region’s rugged coastline and is perfect for walkers and view seekers offering 90 miles of stunning walks. The popular Tarka Trail, accessed from the town centre, provides the unique opportunity to follow a disused railway line on foot or by bicycle to enjoy some of Devon’s finest countryside and river scenery, passing through Fremington Quay with its excellent café, Instow with its estuary beach and view towards the lovely fishing village of Appledore onto Bideford and beyond. Located next door to the owner’s home, Exmoor View has a really great layout. there is a large living area with patio doors opening up to great views of Exmoor. Upstairs, there are 3 en-suite bedrooms, perfect for friends sharing or those with older children. There is a southerly facing patio area, ideal for sitting out on a sunny day. Even at night, with Exmoor’s ’Dark Sky’ status, the star gazing is some of the best on offer. From the cottage, you can walk up on to Exmoor.
Exmoor View is located a short distance form the popular coastal town of Lynton and Lynmouth, where there are a great range of shops, restaurants and of course the famous Victorian Cliff Railway. The ’Valley of the Rocks’ is worth walking and exploring as well as the walk down to Countisbury Light House. The National Trust property of Watersmeet is also nearby and and has a popular tea-room. There are numerous attractions within easy reach including Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park, the Two Moors Way and Watermouth Castle. At Croyde and Woolacombe you will find some of the best surf beaches in the country, as well as many smaller coves and bays. Exmoor has lots to offer including Tarr Steps, the village of Withypool and a walk up Dunkery Beacon, the highest point on Exmoor.
A day out into west Somerset is recommended with places such as Porlock Weir, the pretty harbour village of Watchet, medieval Dunster village and the National Trust’s Dunster Castle and Gardens. The seaside town of Minehead nearby is home to the West Somerset Steam Railway. There are plenty of National Trust properties locally, including Arlington Court, Knightshayes and Combe Park. The world famous RHS gardens at Rosemoor can be found in Great Torrington along with the Dartington Crystal factory. Woody Bay narrow gauge railway is about 2½ miles away and the South West Coastal Path provides some challenging but highly rewarding walks and is easily accessible. Beach 2½ miles. The pretty enclosed garden area has a good-sized patio where guests can enjoy a drink whilst admiring the surroundings and there are plenty of walks from the holiday cottage. Royal Oak Farm is a detached, thatched holiday cottage full of character, situated in the heart of Winsford, one of Exmoor’s prettiest villages. Some of the original parts of the cottage date back to the 14th century. There is generous living space and a large enclosed garden to enjoy. Winsford is located in the heart of Exmoor National Park. There is an inviting pub next to the cottage and a local shop within walking distance. The cottage is surrounded by the majesty of Exmoor and there is easy access to some spectacular country walks on the moorland with an extensive network of well marked footpaths. Dulverton is located 6 miles away and has a wider range of shops, restaurants and tea rooms. A visit to Tarr Steps and Dunkery Beacon, highest point on Exmoor, are some of the highlights. Wimball Lake is a short drive away where you can enjoy the wildlife that surrounds the lake, or enjoy sailing, canoeing or angling on the lake. Other local attractions that may be of interest are the village and castle at Dunster, the West Somerset Railway at Minehead and the villages of Porlock Weir, Lynton and Lynmouth. There are beaches at Dunster and Blue Anchor. Shop 100 yards and pub 20 yards.

This 19th-century Coach House, once part of a country house estate and still retains many original features. Set in 4 acres of grounds within the owner’s 60 acre farm, situated on the beautiful Brendon Hills, it is close to Wimbleball Lake, which is renowned for its fly fishing, sailing, rowing, paddling board and excellent activity centre. Haddon Hill offers wonderful moorland walks and the West Somerset coast is only 15 minutes away, offering stunning scenery and the fossil beach at Kilve. The pretty country village of Dulverton is a 10-minute drive, and the medieval village of Dunster with its castle is another popular local attraction. Exmoor National Park was designated as the first Dark Sky reserve in Europe. The property is ideal for exploring Exmoor, activity holidays or walking/training your dogs who are always welcome at the Coach House at no extra cost.
