Tucked away in the heart of the mid-Devon countryside lies Hazelnut Lodge. Located in the grounds of the owner’s smallholding, there is a private drive leading down to the property. Skirted by the private woods, there is a large garden and sitting-out area. The spacious open plan living space is complimented by an inviting bedroom with its super kingsize bed. Patio doors lead from the living area onto the patio giving further access to a decking area for dining al fresco. Hazelnut Lodge is a comfortable base from which to explore all that Devon has to offer. Exeter is easily reached, and has a wide variety of shops, restaurants and, of course, its historic cathedral. Dartmoor and Exmoor National Parks are accessible and provide walking for all abilities and stunning scenery. There are a number of National Trust properties in the area, most notably Castle Drogo and Arlington Court. Also within easy reach (20 miles) is Powderham Castle. This remarkable 14th century castle, set in a beautiful deer park on the banks of the River Exe, has been home to the same family since 1391. Visitors are encouraged to explore the picturesque gardens, discover the interior beauty of the castle and to take part in some of the events which are held throughout the year. The wonderful RHS gardens at Rosemoor and the Dartington Crystal Factory are worth a visit and both these attractions are based at Great Torrington. There is golf, fishing and horse riding available in the local area and cycle hire can be arranged on the Tarka Trail at various locations. Shop 3 miles, pub 1¼ miles and restaurant 5 miles.

This delightful cottage is nestled on a non-working farm which occupies an outstanding rural position in the sought after Blackdown Hills, between the villages of Hemyock and Culmstock. Designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this is widely regarded as some of the most attractive countryside in Devon. The cottage is a single-storey barn conversion with a contemporary finish. There is a large living area and the bedroom has patio doors which open up onto the open countryside behind the property. There is a sunny sitting-out area to the front of the cottage. The property is reached by a 500 yard farm track ensuring your privacy. If you are looking for peace and quiet, and space to relax and unwind in an unspoilt rural setting, this is an ideal place for a getaway at any time of year. A network of public footpaths directly from the farm and quiet roads for cycling make for a perfect holiday. Lambs Cottage is also an ideal base from which to explore the surrounding delights of Devon and Somerset.

The farm sits on the edge of a scattered hamlet of cottages and farms, approximately 1¾ miles from Culmstock and approximately 2 miles from Hemyock. Both villages have a pub serving food, and a convenience store. The market towns of Wellington and Honiton (with nearby Ottery St Mary – the birthplace of Coleridge) offer a range of local independent shops, cafés and gift shops, and are within a 15-minute drive. Wellington has a farmers’ market twice a month and Honiton is particularly renowned for its antique shops and weekly market which runs the length of the High Street. Taunton with its County Cricket Ground, race course, museum and well regarded Brewhouse Theatre and Arts Centre, lies within 13 miles. The cathedral city of Exeter, with its beautiful historic quarter, quay, botanic gardens, cafés, restaurants and excellent shopping, is only 24 miles.

Within a 40-minute drive to the south you can discover the Jurassic Coast, a World Heritage Site, with pretty coastal towns and villages such as the acclaimed Lyme Regis, Seaton, Beer and Sidmouth with their family friendly beaches. Walk along the coastal path and take in the dramatic coastal scenery. At Seaton, a trip on the tramway is a must, visit the caves at Beer, or have a crab sandwich on the beach. For a classic seaside town, visit Sidmouth with its many shops, pubs, restaurants and award-winning ice cream parlours. Within a 40-minute drive to the west, discover the stunning Exmoor National Park with its hidden villages and beautiful hill walks. Located in stunning Exmoor National Park and just 55 minutes from Exeter, this beautiful, semi-detached, Grade II thatched cottage is situated a few steps away from a pub, which is also owned by the cottage’s owner. Here you can indulge in some tasty fayre made with locally sourced fresh produce or simply pop along for a drink or two in traditional and comfortable surroundings.
The accommodation comprises three bedrooms on the first floor; a super kingsize and main bathroom with a clawfoot bath and a walk-in wardrobe, which are accessed via the first staircase on one side of the cottage, and bunk bedroom and double room, both benefiting from a ‘Jack and Jill’ style en-suite shower room, with a double size rain shower cubicle. These rooms are accessed via a quirky spiral-style staircase so some care should be taken going up and down. There are two characterful reception rooms, one with a double sofa bed and a Smart TV, and the other a comfortable snug where you can escape to and enjoy the gas wood burner. There’s a handy downstairs toilet and a utility room too. The kitchen has everything you’ll need for your stay including a Smeg coffee machine, toaster and kettle, and a Neff oven and combi microwave. Outside you’ll be able to enjoy the large lawned garden with a lovely patio where you can have al fresco meals or just relax with a drink. To the rear of the cottage there is also a handy bike store.
Exmoor National Park is a walker’s paradise. Or, if you’re more of an energetic type, you can run, cycle or indeed simply relax enjoying the magical night skies of Europe’s first ’Dark Sky Reserve’. The park also has abundant wildlife, including ponies, sheep and red deer that graze the open moorland, and overhead you might see falcons, buzzards and even the rare merlin. The area is also perfect for exploring North Devon with all its attractions, such as the many rugged coastal towns and quaint villages like beautiful Lynton and Lynmouth, and stunning cliff top sites such as Valley of the Rocks. The location is also perfect for exploring the rest of north Somerset, and the beautiful city of Exeter is just 55 minutes or so by car. Beach 11½ miles.

Nearby, head to the medieval village of Dunster with its wonderful castle, spend a day at the arcades or shopping in Minehead, pop to Watchet and stroll around the Harbour or head inland onto Exmoor.

Durcombe Water Annexe is a quality studio-style annexe located adjacent to the owners’ home and in a beautiful part of North Devon within Exmoor National Park.
The annexe has a high degree of privacy and benefits from a lovely small lawn and decked garden where you can enjoy an al fresco meal or a drink in peace and tranquillity while making the most of the valley views. Accessed via 13 wide steps from the drive where there is parking for one car, the accommodation comprises into one room with a kingsize bed, Smart TV and a kitchen area with a breakfast bar, electric oven & hob, a microwave, and a fridge. The bathroom has a large shower cubicle and there is also a handy entrance area with a washing machine. The annexe is located just 4 miles from the beautiful coastal village of Lynmouth and its beach which is on the northern edge of Exmoor National Park.

Exmoor itself has abundant wildlife, including ponies, sheep and red deer that graze the open moorland; overhead you might see falcons, buzzards and even the rare merlin. To the north, 14 miles away is the fossil hunting beach at Kilve, and the seaside resorts of Dunster, Burnham-on-Sea, Minehead and Watchet are all within easy reach. Exmoor View lies in the small hamlet of Cheriton. Nestled on the edge of Exmoor, this cottage is perfect for a family or small group of friends. Located next door to the owner’s home, Exmoor View has a really great layout. there is a large living area with patio doors opening up to great views of Exmoor. Upstairs, there are 3 en-suite bedrooms, perfect for friends sharing or those with older children. There is a southerly facing patio area, ideal for sitting out on a sunny day. Even at night, with Exmoor’s ’Dark Sky’ status, the star gazing is some of the best on offer. From the cottage, you can walk up on to Exmoor.
Exmoor View is located a short distance form the popular coastal town of Lynton and Lynmouth, where there are a great range of shops, restaurants and of course the famous Victorian Cliff Railway. The ’Valley of the Rocks’ is worth walking and exploring as well as the walk down to Countisbury Light House. The National Trust property of Watersmeet is also nearby and and has a popular tea-room. There are numerous attractions within easy reach including Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park, the Two Moors Way and Watermouth Castle. At Croyde and Woolacombe you will find some of the best surf beaches in the country, as well as many smaller coves and bays. Exmoor has lots to offer including Tarr Steps, the village of Withypool and a walk up Dunkery Beacon, the highest point on Exmoor.
A day out into west Somerset is recommended with places such as Porlock Weir, the pretty harbour village of Watchet, medieval Dunster village and the National Trust’s Dunster Castle and Gardens. The seaside town of Minehead nearby is home to the West Somerset Steam Railway. There are plenty of National Trust properties locally, including Arlington Court, Knightshayes and Combe Park. The world famous RHS gardens at Rosemoor can be found in Great Torrington along with the Dartington Crystal factory. Woody Bay narrow gauge railway is about 2½ miles away and the South West Coastal Path provides some challenging but highly rewarding walks and is easily accessible. Beach 2½ miles. Some of the original parts of the cottage date back to the 14th century. There is generous living space and a large enclosed garden to enjoy. Winsford is located in the heart of Exmoor National Park. There is an inviting pub next to the cottage and a local shop within walking distance. The cottage is surrounded by the majesty of Exmoor and there is easy access to some spectacular country walks on the moorland with an extensive network of well marked footpaths. Dulverton is located 6 miles away and has a wider range of shops, restaurants and tea rooms. A visit to Tarr Steps and Dunkery Beacon, highest point on Exmoor, are some of the highlights. Wimball Lake is a short drive away where you can enjoy the wildlife that surrounds the lake, or enjoy sailing, canoeing or angling on the lake.
