Exmoor View lies in the small hamlet of Cheriton. Nestled on the edge of Exmoor, this cottage is perfect for a family or small group of friends. Located next door to the owner’s home, Exmoor View has a really great layout. there is a large living area with patio doors opening up to great views of Exmoor. Upstairs, there are 3 en-suite bedrooms, perfect for friends sharing or those with older children. There is a southerly facing patio area, ideal for sitting out on a sunny day. Even at night, with Exmoor’s ’Dark Sky’ status, the star gazing is some of the best on offer. From the cottage, you can walk up on to Exmoor.
Exmoor View is located a short distance form the popular coastal town of Lynton and Lynmouth, where there are a great range of shops, restaurants and of course the famous Victorian Cliff Railway. The ’Valley of the Rocks’ is worth walking and exploring as well as the walk down to Countisbury Light House. The National Trust property of Watersmeet is also nearby and and has a popular tea-room. There are numerous attractions within easy reach including Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park, the Two Moors Way and Watermouth Castle. At Croyde and Woolacombe you will find some of the best surf beaches in the country, as well as many smaller coves and bays. Exmoor has lots to offer including Tarr Steps, the village of Withypool and a walk up Dunkery Beacon, the highest point on Exmoor.
A day out into west Somerset is recommended with places such as Porlock Weir, the pretty harbour village of Watchet, medieval Dunster village and the National Trust’s Dunster Castle and Gardens. The seaside town of Minehead nearby is home to the West Somerset Steam Railway. There are plenty of National Trust properties locally, including Arlington Court, Knightshayes and Combe Park. The world famous RHS gardens at Rosemoor can be found in Great Torrington along with the Dartington Crystal factory. Woody Bay narrow gauge railway is about 2½ miles away and the South West Coastal Path provides some challenging but highly rewarding walks and is easily accessible. Beach 2½ miles. Newhaven is on a quiet lane close to the centre of the popular seaside village of Combe Martin. Ideal for a family or small group, this pet friendly house is ideal as all the highlights of Combe Martin are within easy walking distance of the house. The house is well laid out for family life and has the added bonus of an enclosed courtyard garden. Perfect for sitting out on a balmy evening and keeping your four legged friend safe. Combe Martin is a popular location, the village centre has a good range of shops, places to eat, local pubs and of course a great beach, renowned for its excellent rock pools. Combe Martin is also a popular area for sea kayaking and there are local shops with guides who will help you explore this very interesting and dramatic coastline from the sea.

Chittlehampton is a traditional north Devon village (between Barnstaple and South Molton) and the first village where the Saxons settled during their 8th century invasion of Devon. At its heart is The Square, a wide open space sloping upwards; the outline has hardly changed since. Lovely St. Hieritha’s Church was completely rebuilt between 1470 and 1520 on the site of the earlier cruciform structure and dominates the local skyline. Many licensed premises survived well into 19th century providing a place of refreshment and rest for the many pilgrims; only one extremely popular pub remains today serving lovely traditional pub fayre in a warm, friendly environment.
The village is perfectly located for exploring North Devon and its attractions: Exmoor National Park with its magical night skies in Europe’s first ’Dark Sky Reserve’; the many rugged coastal towns and quaint villages such as Lynton & Lynmouth; Ilfracombe and the world-famous Clovelly Village with their awe-inspiring scenery. The many family attractions include the Big Sheep and Milky Way theme parks, Dartington Crystal Factory, Tapeley Park and RHS Garden Rosemoor. Nearby Barnstaple offers many indoor activity centres for families including a leisure centre with swimming pool, tennis centre and soft play area for smaller children. The fantastic South West Coastal Path runs through the region’s rugged coastline and is perfect for walkers and view seekers offering 90 miles of stunning walks. The popular Tarka Trail, accessed from the town centre, provides the unique opportunity to follow a disused railway line on foot or by bicycle to enjoy some of Devon’s finest countryside and river scenery, passing through Fremington Quay with its excellent café, Instow with its estuary beach and view towards the lovely fishing village of Appledore onto Bideford and beyond. To the north, 14 miles away is the fossil hunting beach at Kilve, and the seaside resorts of Dunster, Burnham-on-Sea, Minehead and Watchet are all within easy reach. Elsie has been lovingly restored by her owners in 2020, to offer a wonderful holiday for families or friends, she is situated right by the West Somerset Railway line that runs from Minehead to Bishops Lydeard and also offers sea views from every room! Every detail has been considered to make your stay as perfect as possible. Head up the steps and through the door, where you will enter into the living/dining room, with comfortable sofas and dining table comfortably seating 6 people, off the living space is the very well equipped (and fabulous sized) kitchen with full cooking facilities as well as a full fridge/freezer, microwave and washer/dryer! Head down the narrow hallway to your sleeper cabins, one of which is a small double with sea and railway views plus a TV, while the other two bedrooms feature bunk beds (original but made safe for 21st century use!) both feature sea and track views, TVs and one has an XBox to keep the kids happy after a day exploring the beach or on Exmoor! At the end of the carriage is the shower room with a large shower. Outside you have a large grass area for games and relaxing, plus private parking. *Please note, the underside of the carriage is open and the working track can be accessed, please ensure that dogs are kept on a lead at all times and children are fully supervised while outside*
Blue Anchor is a wonderful seaside village, set between Minehead and Watchet, with a fabulous stretch of beach which is perfect for year round use and is also dog friendly at all times! The beautiful West Somerset Steam Railway which runs through Blue Anchor has a stop here and they offer wonderful trips as well as speciality trips with steam fairs, afternoon teas, candlelight dinners and the amazing Santa Express! Nearby, head to the medieval village of Dunster with its wonderful castle, spend a day at the arcades or shopping in Minehead, pop to Watchet and stroll around the Harbour or head inland onto Exmoor.

Cobblers Cottage is situated in a perched position accessed up shared steps, where from the beautiful rocky river and sea views beyond can been enjoyed. There is a double bedroom on the lower ground floor with an adjacent shower room and upstairs you will find the living/dining room with a window seat with a view and a lovely wood burner. The kitchen has all that you’ll need for a home from home stay and outside is a small seating area directly by the entrance where you can enjoy a quiet evening drink or an al fresco meal.
Lynmouth is a beautiful coastal village on the northern edge of Exmoor. The village straddles the confluence of the West Lyn and East Lyn rivers and is located in a gorge 700 feet below the equally lovely twin town of Lynton which is also known as ’Little Switzerland’. Both Lynton and Lynmouth are in an area of incomparable beauty within Exmoor National Park. Sweeping hills and valleys nestle between both and spectacular cliffs surround the area. Rivers wind their way through deeply wooded valleys on their way to the sea, occasionally interrupted by tumbling waterfalls. The remarkable Valley of the Rocks, which is a must see, is a dry valley that runs parallel to the coast and is just over a mile to the west of Lynton above. There’s a Victorian fishing lodge at Watersmeet which is now run by the National Trust and the area which has dramatic waterfalls is worth a visit.
Inland there are numerous walks through the rugged scenery of the National Park with over 600 miles of marked footpaths. Exmoor itself has abundant wildlife, including ponies, sheep and red deer that graze the open moorland and overhead you might see falcons, buzzards and even the rare merlin. The surrounding coastline and countryside boast some of the most spectacular and awe-inspiring sea and hillside views you can find. There are some amazing walks that can be taken directly from the property and local restaurants, pubs, cafés, tea rooms and various craft, boutique, novelty and antique shops are all within easy reach. Lynmouth with its riverside walks, harbourside pubs, restaurants and large manor green overlooking the sea is linked by road, footpath and by the famous Victorian funicular cliff railway which opened in 1890 and is the highest and steepest totally water powered railway in the world. The location offers an ideal base to relax, enjoy invigorating outdoor pursuits or visit many famous beauty spots in this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and not to forget the magical night skies in Europe’s first ’Dark Sky Reserve’. Although Lynmouth has its own beach, further afield there are some of the best beaches in the UK to discover like Saunton Sands, Woolacombe, Westward Ho! and Croyde which are all easily reached by car and highly recommended. Durcombe Water Annexe is a quality studio-style annexe located adjacent to the owners’ home and in a beautiful part of North Devon within Exmoor National Park.
The annexe has a high degree of privacy and benefits from a lovely small lawn and decked garden where you can enjoy an al fresco meal or a drink in peace and tranquillity while making the most of the valley views. Accessed via 13 wide steps from the drive where there is parking for one car, the accommodation comprises into one room with a kingsize bed, Smart TV and a kitchen area with a breakfast bar, electric oven & hob, a microwave, and a fridge. The bathroom has a large shower cubicle and there is also a handy entrance area with a washing machine. The living area has a gorgeous corner sofa, TV and gas wood burner, making this the perfect space to relax after a busy day exploring Exmoor. The bedrooms, each with a Smart TV, are located at each end of the apartment, with a twin bedroom at one end and a double bedroom at the other which has beautiful French doors leading to your private gravelled courtyard. The large bathroom has a bath with shower over, toilet and light up mirror, there is also a second separate toilet. Outside, you have two private courtyard spaces, both of which are fully enclosed and have seating areas where you can sit back and relax or enjoy an al fresco meal. Your four legged family members are able to run around in this area. You also have use of the owner’s enchanting landscaped gardens that lead down to the River Barle, where you are able to spend time fishing as the owners have the rights to this part of the river! *Please keep your dogs on the lead in the main gardens due to the owner’s chickens and ducks.
When staying at Withymead Cottage, you are lucky enough to be staying in one of Exmoor’s most picturesque villages, with its river meandering through, a fabulous tea room, well stocked local shop and a 17th-century pub, it truly is the English countryside at its finest. Miles and miles of walks head off in every direction or jump in your car and discover more of the area, such as Tarr Steps or the beautiful north coast towns of Porlock and Lynton. For more history head to the Medieval village of Dunster and visit the Castle then jump on the West Somerset Steam Railway and chug along the coast and through the countyside.

Stepping inside, on the ground floor you will find a cosy lounge with wood burner, perfect for chillier evenings, and comfortable seating to relax in after a day exploring the area, together with Freeview TV. The wonderfully light and modern kitchen/diner comes extremely well equipped with a second Freeview TV, plus everything you need for a wonderful home-cooked meal, with an electric oven, gas 5 burner hob, and dishwasher. There’s also a utility room with a fridge/freezer, wine cooler, and washing machine.

Heading upstairs you will find the family bathroom with a P-shape bath and shower plus a heated towel rail. The bedrooms have all been decorated in calming colours for a restful night’s sleep and have plenty of storage and hanging space. The master bedroom has a king size bed, bedroom two has a double while bedroom three has a single bed.

Outside, the south-facing garden, with two decks, is a great size and is mainly lawned, perfect for your two and four-legged family to let off some steam running around and playing games. Speaking of which, at the bottom of the garden you will find the games cabin with table tennis and a decked area with a table, chairs, a corner sofa, for relaxing, firepit and barbecue for your alvfresco dining! Head into the cosy games cabin when the sun goes down.

A fantastic holiday home located just a short walk from Minehead’s town centre and beautiful seafront, with sandy beach and harbour, surrounded by shops and an award-winning Indian restaurant, 2-minute walk. Local pubs are a 5-minute walk giving you the option to leave the car on the driveway and explore on foot. Hire bikes, paddle boards and kayaks from Channel Adventures on the seafront.

Minehead Golf Course, founded in 1882, is Somerset’s oldest and is open all year round. Minehead is also a bustling seaside resort with plenty of things to do and there are many shops, bars, and restaurants to sample as well as three supermarkets within a 5-minute walk! Take time to explore, get lost and find hidden rivers, old-fashioned tea rooms and country pubs. The village of Dunster has its beach, plus its castle and cobbled streets are a must-do while here. Dunster by candlelight in December is a magical experience! Drive along the coast and spend time in Porlock, ride the cliff railway that links Lynton and Lynmouth or wander around Watchet.
