This pretty two-bedroom cottage is nestled within a vibrant, bustling seaside village Milford on Sea, one of the last remaining seaside villages, is popular year-round, with a good selection of pubs, restaurants and local shops. The cottage is only 10 minutes’ walk from the beach and 5 minutes from excellent birdwatching areas within a popular conservation area, including the marshes and Sturt Pond, where there is a hide. Walk along Hurst Spit to Hurst Castle, about 1½ miles away, where Charles I was imprisoned; there is also a ferry from nearby Keyhaven to the castle.
    It is a scenic walk over the cliff tops to Barton-on-Sea, and you can stop off at the café for refreshments on route! There are Victorian Pleasure Gardens throughout the village which follow the river, and keen walkers can take the coastal path from Keyhaven Nature Reserve to Lymington. Although it is a long walk, it takes in some incredible views. Further afield you can park your car at Hengistbury Head and walk all the way to Boscombe, or alternatively from Highcliffe Castle to Mudeford, then take the short ferry to Hengistbury.
    The beaches in the locality are very clean, and many people swim from the Milford Beaches. There is a paddle boarding shop in the village, and lessons can be taken in Mudeford. The water in Christchurch Harbour is very shallow, and great for those learning to paddle board. Lymington, with its harbour, restaurants, inns, nautical boutiques and ferry link to the Isle of Wight, is only about 5 miles. The New Forest is known for it extensive scenic walks, cycling and riding routes, whilst other places to visit include Beaulieu Motor Museum, Paultons Park, Bucklers Hard, Marwell Zoo, New Forest Owl and Otter Park and Christchurch Priory. Many larger beaches with various attractions are within easy reach, including Sandbanks, Poole and Bournemouth. If relaxing and being pampered appeals, the Elemis Day Spa at Shorefields Country Park is just a few minutes’ drive away. Beach 1 mile. Shop 500 yards, pub and restaurant 200 yards.

There is an excellent bistro on the front at Stokes Bay which serves home cooked food at reasonable prices with big portions!

    There is always something to see at Stokes Bay. The Solent, between the Isle of Wight and Stokes Bay, is used by all manner of boats, ships and water sports including Cowes Week, naval reviews, cruise liners, America’s Cup, P1 Powerboat racing, Fast Net departure and American aircraft carriers, to name a few!

    Stoke’s Bay also has two cafés as well as a wine bar and a free splash park for children. There is also a leisure centre and ice-rink a short drive away. It takes 7 minutes to drive to Gosport harbour front where there is a long-stay car park (at cost) and with a return passenger ferry ticket across Portsmouth Harbour you can soon spend a quality day at either the naval dockyard or at Gunwharf Quays, a retail outlet with many designer stores, restaurants, bowling alley and multi-screen cinema and Portsmouth Spinnaker Tower, both located close to the ferry terminal.
    From Portsmouth Harbour there are fabulous views to be enjoyed on a promenade to Southsea and Old Portsmouth where you can enjoy excellent pubs beside the fish market whilst watching the fishing boats or catch the hovercraft to the Isle of Wight. From the Portsmouth side you can also take the car or go as a passenger to the Isle of Wight with Wightlink Ferries or take a harbour tour as part of the dockyard visit or from Gunwharf Quays.

The owners have a cat and friendly dog, but please be aware the property is not suitable for anyone with an allergy to horses.
    This rural setting is easily accessible and perfect for exploring the many things this area has to offer. The Jane Austen House Museum is only a 15-minute drive away in the picturesque village of Chawton with tea rooms and pub. A perfect location for walkers and cyclists with direct gate access onto the bridle path leading to Bramshott and Ludshott Commons. There is so much on offer in this beautiful part of the south of England with the Goodwood Estate world known for its racing, golfing and horse racing and home to the famous Festival of Speed and Revival, less than a 40-minute drive away. Cowdray Estate, for polo, is just 30-minute drive and it is only 20 minutes to Trotton Estates Vineyard where you can enjoy a tour, picnic or even a wine tasting event. Woodgreen also boasts a wonderful village pub, serving traditional British cuisine, which is an easy, level walk from the cottage (make sure you have a torch for the way home), and there is also a delightful community-run village store and post office.
    The neighbouring market town of Fordingbridge has a pub on the river and a great grocer shop for local produce; there is also an organic farm shop close by with its own café. Fordingbridge is known for its medieval bridge with five arches, and has many local shops, boutiques, eateries and a church. Nearby there is a waterpark, which offers wakeboarding, sailing, fishing and other water sports, and there is horse riding and golf in the area too.
    Thirty minutes or so to the south, you will find beautiful sandy beaches at Southbourne, Bournemouth and Sandbanks. Other places to visit include Moors Valley, Christchurch Harbour and Dorset Heavy Horse Farm. The historic cathedral cities of Winchester and Salisbury are within a short drive away and are well worth a visit.
