Canoeing and fishing on the River Wye, 10 minutes away, are popular, Glen Cottage (W4023) has a useful utility room with plenty of room to store fishing equipment. There is a butterfly zoo and maze within 2 miles, a swimming pool within 4 miles and Go Ape in the Forest of Dean. The market towns of Ross-on-Wye, 5 miles, and Ledbury, 12 miles away, while the historic cathedral cities of Hereford and Gloucester are 23 miles. The Malvern Hills, Brecon Beacons, Forest of Dean and the Cotswolds are within easy reach, making it an ideal base for those interested in climbing, walking and touring holidays. The Old Kennels Farm is a small, friendly, family-run farm of 24 acres, where tasty apples are grown in the on-site orchard, and each autumn they are harvested to make cider that is transported to some of the most prestigious venues in London and various outlets around the country. The holiday cottages (refs UK41822, UKC1766, UKC1767, UKC1768, UKC1769 and UKC1770) are conversions of old farm buildings that are at the top end of the site and are all named after old varieties of cider apples.
The farm is perfectly positioned on the outskirts of Ledbury in picturesque Herefordshire. Ledbury is a pretty, well-kept town in the east of the county, with fantastic examples of timber framed buildings, including the market hall dating back to the 17th century. Explore the town’s cobbled streets, which in summer are adorned with the most beautiful hanging baskets, and which have won ’Britain in Bloom’ competitions. Half a mile easy walk will take you into the town centre, where you will find public houses and restaurants, a small leisure centre, swimming pool and a gymnasium. There is also a variety of small individual shops and two larger supermarkets.
Local attractions include Eastnor Castle, a deer park, exhilarating Landrover experiences, off roading, golf, balloon flights, family pottery sessions at Eastnor Pottery, Hellens Manor, Newent Heritage Centre and The International Centre for Birds of Prey. Visit Westons, where you can experience a shire horse dray ride, sample Westons Cider on the mill tour or simply wander through the courtyard garden. Bromyard is a hidden gem. Well known for its local farm shops, cider, and artisan food producers. With independent shops to visit and lively town crier events throughout the year, this town offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere to all visitors. The river Frome is nearby for those who like to enjoy canoeing and similar activities. Brockhampton Estate, Shortwood Farm, the Black and White Trail, Ledbury town with its timber framed buildings and historic 17th century market hall, and the city of Hereford with its cathedral and Mappa Mundi, are all a short drive away and wonderful places to visit.

Whitewells Farm were the first holiday cottages in Herefordshire to have been converted from existing farm buildings into individual self-catering holiday homes in 1978. They all feature original beams throughout, half-cruck trusses and some have vaulted ceilings and beamed room divisions. Situated in the beautiful Herefordshire countryside, Whitewells Farm has a collection of individually styled barn conversions for you to stay in. Saddlestones was converted from the old milking parlour and stable, and has an upside down layout. The entrance hall leads to two beamed bedrooms, one with a kingsize bed and vanity unit, and the other, a very spacious room with two single beds. The bathroom is fitted with a bath and overhead shower. The staircase leads up to the kitchen/dining area and a large, heavily exposed beamed living room. There are wonderful views of the rolling countryside and the duck pond.
The Black and White Trail, The Elgar Route, Cheltenham, and an abundance of National Trust properties, to name just a few, are some of the fascinating places to explore from your base at Whitewells Farm. Being placed close to the main routes to Hereford, Worcester, Ledbury, and Bromyard mean that access to towns and cities in all directions couldn’t be simpler.
