The property lends itself very well to couples looking for a romantic break by the seaside and has everything you will need for that! Margate has plenty to offer from the long golden sanded beaches, the seafront amusements including arcades. Dreamland and the old town for boutique shops, bars, cafés and restaurants. Margate has great transport links via bus or train to all the surrounding areas for day trips such as Canterbury (20 minutes) Whitstable (15 minutes) Broadstairs (5 minutes) Ramsgate (10 minutes).

There are several boutique shops that are well worth a visit, or you can simply wander along the city streets to take in Canterbury’s remarkable culture. "Dating back to 1652, these two properties were originally part of a working dairy farm and offer a wonderful location, next to the owners’ home, in the coastal town of Margate. Farm Cottage (ref W43578) is a quaint, semi-detached, converted farmhouse comfortably sleeping 4 guests, and has been renovated to a good standard. Guests can enjoy access to a good-sized garden, an open plan living/dining room and a well-equipped kitchen, as well as a small chalk cave which is characteristic of the area and which the owners are happy to show guests around.
Stable Cottage (ref UKC3922), complete with its stable door, adjoins the owners’ converted farmhouse and is ideally suited to couples. This holiday cottage was renovated in 2018 to a good standard, retaining some original features including an exposed wall in the living room. Guests can enjoy access to a garden at the front of the cottage.
A short stroll from the properties will take you into the coastal town of Margate where local attractions include the famous Turner Gallery, Margate Old Town and Shell Grotto. Catch a band at the Winter Gardens or hop on a retro ride at Dreamland. Take a boat trip and spot seals on the sandbanks, or cycle the Viking Coastal Trail, one of the most attractive leisure cycle routes in Kent, covering 27 miles. A short drive will take you to Broadstairs, home to Viking Bay, with several fantastic walks, or why not visit Ramsgate Royal Harbour?
Broadstairs Folk Week takes place on the first weekend in August every year and it is only a 20-minute bus ride from the cottage. Don’t miss out on a trip to the historic city of Canterbury, with its dominating city walls and incredible cathedral. Built in the 1880s The Old Guesthouse has been in the same family for 75 years. Previously a traditional Margate guesthouse, it is ideally proportioned for a comfortable and stylish holiday experience, accommodating eight people comfortably with an extra two in the lovely loft room. Having closed as a guest house in the late 1980s, the house has been lavishly restored and renovated and now welcomes guests again for the first time in 2021. From 1945 until 1988, literally thousands of people used the house as the base for their family seaside holiday and the family are thrilled to be able to offer the house again as a perfect holiday retreat.
Ideally located for all that Margate has to offer, the famous Golden Mile beach is a stone’s throw away. The old town, with its array of shops, cafés, restaurants and the Turner Contemprory is a 10 minute walk along the iconic sea front. Dreamland, England’s oldest amusement park is a five minute walk and the local shops at Westbrook are literally just around the corner!

Westgate is ideally located in the centre of Thanet, surrounded by villages and towns, with so much to see and do from bars, restaurants, boutique shops to beaches, plenty of walks and plenty of parks and scenery to take in. With more than adequate travel links via bus and trains you can explore Thanet day by day easily and locally within 30 minutes maximum travel. There is a wide promenade meandering towards Margate Sands in one direction and Minnis Bay via cliff roads and promenade in the opposite direction.
A short 15-minute drive in the area can take you to Westwood Shopping area, Broadstairs, Ramsgate, Reculver Towers Park. Historic Canterbury, Herne Bay and Whitstable a little further. The quaint parade of shops opposite Westgate Station provides a good range: newsagents, post office and chemists, bakers, butchers, fruit and veg, national supermarket, sweet shops, hairdressers and barbers, beauty salons, bric-a-brac and local charity shops catering for all ages and tastes. The three screen Carlton Cinema offers the latest films screened in a retro style surrounding. Come and experience this traditional array of shops, cafés and more.
