Definitely off the beaten track, this wonderful holiday home stands in the most beautiful of settings. Lying to the western side of Corney Fell, which is dominated by Black Combe, you will enjoy the most extensive views. The former Foldgate Farmhouse, nestles around a courtyard with outhouse and stables, and has been extensively refurbished. The farmhouse has lovely features - wooden and flagged floors, beams, wood burner and open fire, and has been warmly decorated and furnished with great attention to comfort. This welcoming home from home will be a haven to relax and unwind, enjoy the views from the decked areas; or just curl up on the sofa and read a book by the fire. Alternatively, there are plenty of attractions for you to visit in the nearby locality. The small town of Bootle is just 1½ miles with shops and café, the lakes Wastwater, Ennerdale and Coniston are all within a 20-30 minute drive. The coast is 2 miles, Muncaster and Ravenglass 5 miles. Close to Coniston Water and at the southern end of the Lake District National Park, Souterstead, standing detached, offers all the space and comforts your party would need for their stay. French doors in the living room overlook open countryside and lead onto the garden.

The nearby Lakeland villages of Coniston and Hawkshead are idyllic and have an abundance of shops and cafés to discover, and for the more adventurous, why not take to the treetop challenge of Grizedale Forest, or venture along the many paths by foot or by bike? Coniston Old Man is always a favourite to climb, yet there are many more walks for all, including your four-legged friends. You will also find and there are two dog friendly pubs within ½ mile.
For a little bit of Victorian elegance, why not have a trip out on the steam yacht gondola that sails on Coniston Water from March to November, or take to the water yourself for a real Swallows and Amazons adventure! Conn Cottage has recently been fully renovated in 2021, this cottage is full of character and has a peaceful location with lovely view over the stream next door that used to power the neighbouring corn mill, built from Lakeland stone. It has been attractively modernised, furnished and fitted to a high standard, with every modern convenience, making it a real home from home. The kitchen/dining room is finished to a high standard with fully integrated appliances, soft close cupboards and drawers with patio doors opening out onto the rear garden with outside seating and hot tub.
Conn Cottage is situated in the attractive hamlet of Bampton, in the Lowther Valley. This is a tranquil, unspoilt and beautiful area of the Lake District. This amazing area is perfect for getting away from it all and for seeing wildlife like red squirrels, deer and buzzards. However, the location is still also convenient for accessing not only other parts of the Lake District, but also the Yorkshire Dales, Teesdale and Hadrian’s Wall. Bampton has a village store/post office with tearoom, children’s playground and there is a lovely pub a gentle stroll away in the neighbouring hamlet of Bampton Grange. There are other excellent pubs serving food a short drive away in Askham, Tirril and Shap, as well as the hotel at Haweswater.
The nearest lakes are Haweswater and Ullswater. The area is perfect for walking and cycling with its quiet scenic roads and there is plenty of good walking from the doorstep, including on the surrounding fells leading over to Ullswater. Popular fells such as Hallin Fell and Place Fell and Mardale Head are nearby. There are lots of nearby attractions and activities including cycle hire, horse riding, Dalemain House and gardens, Aira Force, Ullswater Steamers and other water sports. The nearest town to Bampton is Penrith which is 7 miles away and the M6 is just a 10-minute drive for easy access.

Lobbs is a traditional Lakeland farmhouse dating back to the 1600’s and recently renovated and brought up to date in 2022. It is located in the Lake District National Park in a special secluded fell-side setting with exceptional and unique views of the Blencathra mountain range.

Conveniently located between Kendal and Carnforth, the medieval market town of Milnthorpe is a 10-minute drive away, here you can find a supermarket, petrol station, four takeaways and two pubs. Levens Hall and Gardens is a 20-minute drive from the property, is famous for the world’s oldest topiary gardens with a wonderful café, and is also very popular with locals, serving delicious home-cooked food. Being not too far from the A6, the rest of the Lake District including Bowness and Windermere are a mere 30 minutes’ drive away and the Yorkshire Dales, with the popular market town of Kirkby Lonsdale and the Water Fall Trail at Ingleton, is equidistant. Morecambe and Lancaster can also be reached within 30 minutes.
You are welcome to bring your dog. If your dog enjoys relaxing on a sofa, the owners ask that you provide your own dog blankets to place on the sofas to protect them. They would also ask that at the end of a muddy walk, you clean your dog (towels are provided) in the porch area before allowing the dog into the rest of the property.
