Behind the property you have direct access to Hameldon Hill, whilst Pendle Hill and the Ribble Valley can be reached in under half an hour, providing many great walks, local pubs and restaurants. The location is around a 30-minute walk from Southport beach, and is close to the village’s specialist shops and charming cafes and pubs. For further amenities in Southport town centre you’ll find the renowned Lord Street - a wide Victorian street with a fantastic variety of shops, pubs and restaurants. There really is something for everyone; golf at the prestigious Royal Birkdale, bird watching along the coast, and the very rare red squirrels at Formby. Southport itself boasts a theatre, lovely parks and Splash World, as well as playing host to a wide selection of events ranging from the National Fireworks Display, and an air show together with jazz, food and drink festivals. Liverpool can be reached in approximately an hour by car and Chester, Manchester and Preston are all within driving distance also. The Lake District and Lancashire’s beautiful Ribble Valley can be reached in around an hour.

In the heart of the Ribble Valley and converted from a 19th century barn, these holiday homes, all with wonderful views, are situated on the owners’ working sheep farm (owners offer lamb feeding March until May) and set in 170 acres of environmentally managed farmland in the heart of the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Barn (ref 27977) and Bramble Cottage (ref 27978) are semi-detached and The Stable (ref 30562) stands detached and are in a perfect location for wedding ceremonies, providing ideal accommodation. Just 2 miles from Whalley, with its historic buildings, charming shops, cafés and restaurants, it is the perfect base for exploring the Ribble Valley, Pendle and the Trough of Bowland. With walks from the doorstep, the area is also popular for cyclists and mountain bikers. There are several fisheries nearby including trout and fly fishing, and Whalley Golf Club is less than a mile away. Situated on a bridle path, there is stabling available on site (to be arranged directly with owner). Children will love Brockholes Nature Reserve, Bowland Wild Boar Park and the Roman museum at Ribchester. There is also a dry ski slope nearby at Pendle. Other places of interest include Gawthorpe Hall, Samlesbury Hall, Townley Hall and Clitheroe with its castle and museum. The Lake District and Yorkshire Dales are both within an hour’s drive. There is an abundance of walking routes for all abilities in the surrounding countryside, taking you up to the top of Pendle Hill where the views stretch out right across the Ribble Valley - you can even see the Yorkshire Peaks and Fylde Coast out in the distance on a clear day. Cycling enthusiasts will absolutely love the winding country lanes and undulating hills. The Pendle district of Lancashire is famed for its connections to the Pendle Witches, and there are plenty of ways to immerse yourself in the fascinating history behind it including the spooky gift shop based in Newchurch, the Pendle Heritage Centre in Barrowford and Pendle Sculpture trail. The Pendle Way walking route starts in Sabden offering plenty of scenic walks from your doorstep, taking you past the famous ’lairs’ of the Pendle Witches. Wycoller is also nearby - popular for its Bronte connections. The picturesque hamlet is steeped in history and is home to the 1000 year old Clam Bridge across the Wycoller Beck, which is now listed as an ancient monument. The bustling market town of Clitheroe, which is considered to be the capital of the Ribble Valley, is just 4 miles away. Here, the streets are strewn with bunting and are home to a delightful selection of boutique shops, cafes, wine bars, pubs and restaurants.
