Travel north to the highest village in the Scottish Highlands, Tomintoul, where a warm welcome awaits. This detached holiday home is set on the outskirts of this quaint village and backs onto fields with the Avonside Hills as a panoramic backdrop. Furnished with style and comfort in mind, it is an ideal base to explore this magical region. Whisky lovers will enjoy the delights of the Whisky Trail, of which the famous Glenlivet is only a short drive away. Plenty of outdoor adventures can be had, horse riding from the village, skiing at nearby Lecht and the Cairngorms where fabulous hillwalking and mountain climbing can be enjoyed. Cyclists will love the Glenlivet Mountain Bike centre too. In addition, Landrover safaris or gorge walking at nearby Bridge of Brown will surely get the adrenalin going. Alternatively, bird watching or deer spotting will suit the less adventurous and for interesting shops and eateries, Tomintoul, Ballater, Grantown-on-Spey and Aviemore are all within easy reach. The Bothy at Willowbank is our lovely cosy holiday cottage for two at the rear of Willowbank Guesthouse in Grantown on Spey. A tranquil setting, but nearly in the middle of village life. It features an open plan living area, a well-equipped kitchen, a spacious bathroom with large shower, washbasin and toilet, and a double bedroom. You will find The Bothy is a perfect base to stay and explore the surrounding area. Walks, whisky distilleries, and castles are at your doorstep. Just for hibernating, the Bothy is ideal as well. Although you can keep in touch with the outside world, as the cottage has its own Wi-Fi connection. There also is a flat screen television and a BD/DVD player.
Grantown on Spey is part of the Cairngorms National Park. From Grantown you can travel in all directions and explore a large part of the northeast of Scotland, including the famous Speyside whisky distilleries; even Scotland’s west coast can be visited on a day trip.
The Cairngorms National Park is a paradise for walkers, hikers and mountaineers alike. Whether just an evening stroll, one of the long-distance walks or climbing one of the Munros, this is the place to be. Birdwatchers are challenged to spot the birds you can only find in this wonderful part of the world.

Breweries use our water for another product, and they also invite guests to visit; and as gin is becoming more and more popular, also distilleries making gin are calling this part of the Highlands home. Other activities nearby include visiting castles, historic houses and gardens, cycling, fishing, golf, steam train, funicular railway to Cairngorm Mountain, visiting museums, wildlife park and reindeer centre. Cullen is just one of the many jewels in the Moray Firth’s crown - a wonderful place for a great holiday experience! Spacious, with an airy feel, this house has a secluded sitting-out area with hot tub for guests’ use. It makes a wonderful place to relax in after a day out exploring the area or taking in the sea air along the gorgeous coastline. The owner also provides guests with towels. The property has ten bedrooms, three en-suite, sleeping up to 18 guests, along with another four shower rooms. To the rear of the property lies a quaint, gravelled garden that is not only home to handy storage for your beach gear, but to a bubbling hot tub; perfect for those days where you need to relax your muscles after ample walking or cycling along the coast!
The clear waters here are the base for a resident colony of bottlenose dolphins, and there are several companies in the vicinity running wildlife cruises, when you may also spot seals, many seabirds and even whales. Golf enthusiasts have a lovely links course practically on the doorstep, which has stunning views over the bay. Local dishes include Cullen skink, a hearty chowder-like fish soup; the nearby Cullen Bay Hotel holds the title of World Champion for this tasty dish! Moray is also known for its whisky, and there are many famous distilleries within an hour’s drive of the village. Cullen has a great variety of local amenities, good pubs and cafés, as well as a fabulous ice cream shop opposite the property. There is plenty to do here for all ages and abilities.

Take advantage of the proximity to the famous salmon fishing River Spey for a scenic walk, or cycle along the Speyside Way, and be sure to see the historic Ben Rinnes Distillery, which was founded in 1826 with its iconic tall red chimney. In the heart of Speyside there are numerous famous distilleries to explore. For walkers, a path starting up Ben Rinnes is nearby, and the lovely Lynn Waterfalls are also close to the old packhorse bridge in the village.

Aberlour is a charming little town located just 1.2 miles from the property in the heart of Scotland’s Speyside region, famous for whisky, Walker’s shortbread and salmon fishing. The town and vicinity is home to a variety of attractions, including the Speyside Cooperage, numerous famous distillery tours, The Wee Ferm, the attractive Aberlour Victoria Bridge and nearby Craigellachie (Telford) Bridge over the River Spey. There is a salmon smokehouse, choice of miniature or steam railways, and Moravia Aviation, as well as magnificent Ballindalloch Castle and grounds to enjoy along with a number of local golf courses.

Fishing on the Spey is sought after and there is also trout fishing close by. Within easy reach of the Cairngorms or Lecht for skiing and hill walking, and also beautiful beaches along the dolphin-famous Moray Firth. Moss of Bourach is a fabulous central location for rural fun and exploration. Venture to the city of Elgin, home to the Elgin Cathedral, which is a stunning example of Gothic architecture, as well as the Duffus Castle, which is a beautiful medieval castle.
