The property is situated in a quiet cul-de-sac, in the village of Hunmanby, and just 3 miles from the traditional seaside resort of Filey. There is an enclosed lawned garden to the rear of the property, making it ideal for small children or pets. There’s also a small open garden to the front of the property.
    There are a whole host of amenities within walking distance including a post office, shops and local pubs. The seaside resorts of Filey, Scarborough and Bridlington are all just a short drive away. Filey is the smallest of the three resorts, and is a very traditional seaside resort with a wonderful large sandy beach. Scarborough and Bridlington are much larger resorts with lots of amenities to keep the family entertained. Scarborough also has two wonderful bays with a long sweeping promenade which stretches for over 3 miles, perfect for a leisurely stroll along the seafront. To the north of the bays you will find the Sealife Centre and Alpamare Water Park, both exciting visits for children. Peasholm Park with its stunning gardens and large lake where you can hire pedalos and rowing boats is also close by. The park is also home to the world famous Naval Warfare Battle, a miniature sea battle that is re-enacted with model warships and has entertained many children over the years. The market towns of Pickering, Malton, Driffield and Beverley are also worth visiting during your stay. Each have busy market days as well as lots of little independent shops and cafés. This little bungalow is the perfect spot to enjoy all that Yorkshire has to offer. Beach 2½ miles. Shop, pub and restaurant ¼ mile.

    Filey is the nearest town and has a large supermarket as well as shops, restaurants and bars. It is still a very traditional resort with donkeys, fresh seafood stalls and an historic promenade. Scarborough and Bridlington are both within a short drive, both larger and busier than Filey and with plenty of attractions to visit, including leisure centres, waterparks, theatres, a SeaLife Centre and lots more.

    The RSPB bird sanctuary at Bempton Cliffs is just a short drive away, where you can spot thousands of migrating seabirds from the viewing points along the clifftops. The ever popular puffins attract overseas visitors, and in the spring and summer months you can catch the puffin boat ‘The Yorkshire Belle’ and sail to the foot of the cliffs to get a close up view of the birds, a fantastic opportunity for nature lovers.     Tigh Na Mara or ’House by the Sea’ is one of four holiday cottages in Hunmanby Gap owned by a local Yorkshire family. Sat in a picturesque cove in the centre of Filey Bay and overlooking miles of golden sands, this cottage provides wonderful sea views and is just perfect for those looking for a romantic seaside break, family beach holiday or a relaxing bird watching getaway. There are also miles of cycle routes and footpaths to explore too!

    Step inside and be greeted by a beautiful beach scene, behind which is the large living/dining room which offers stunning sea views. The settees are well placed to enjoy some warmth from the electric fire during the cooler months, but also provide the perfect spot to sit with a coffee or glass of wine and just enjoy the beautiful view. One of the settee’s doubles as a sofa bed providing extra sleeping for two. The dining table sits to the rear of the room and provides plenty of seating for eight. The kitchen is bright and airy and also offers sea views. With lots of cupboards to store your holiday essentials and plenty of work top space, the chef in the family will enjoy rustling up a family breakfast or a delicious home cooked evening meal. A large archway takes you through into a sun room with additional comfortable seating and more sea views! On the ground floor can also be found a twin and double bedroom, along with the house bathroom.

    Take the glass panelled staircase to the first floor and here you will find the master double bedroom. The vaulted ceiling and low doorway leading through to an en-suite bathroom really add to its character. Fold open the Velux window and step outside onto a small hidden balcony; the sea view from up here is simply stunning. A perfect spot for an early morning coffee! To the front of the property is a pretty cottage garden with borders packed with summer flowers. To the rear is an enclosed, dog-friendly garden with neatly trimmed lawn and seating, perfect for an al fresco breakfast.

    A short walk down the hill is where you will find a quaint dog-friendly café and the beach is just beyond. A short drive away is the pretty seaside town of Filey and the harbour port of Scarborough. Both towns offer lovely walks along promenades and a plethora of seaside attractions, tea rooms, restaurants and shops. A visit to RSPB Bempton Cliffs is a must whilst staying at Tigh Na Mara, or why not travel a little further inland and enjoy the rolling countryside of the Yorkshire Wolds.
