In a quiet location down a private drive, this second floor holiday apartment, renovated in 2020, is part of a converted mill set within Malhamdale in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, and with the other properties enjoys 8 acres of private grounds in an idyllic setting. This apartment boasts fantastic views over the River Aire which feeds the trout lake and millstream, adding charm and life to the grounds. Malham Cove, with its limestone amphitheatre and the gorge of Gordale Scar, are within easy walking distance, as is Malham Tarn, one of the largest natural areas of water in Yorkshire. Also, Settle is close by, where you can take a trip on the Settle to Carlisle Railway. The town of Skipton is also a favourite, also known as ’the gateway to the Dales’, with its Norman castle and popular market. Shop 3 miles, pub 1 mile.

Quaker Cottage is situated on the street which runs along the harbour and down to Tate Hill beach, lined with quirky independent shops, cafés and restaurants, as well as traditional pubs. For guests who enjoy meals out you will be spoilt for choice. The house is next to the Quaker Church, which has now been converted into a popular Italian restaurant, originally the chaplain would have resided here with his family.

Quaker House has its own separate entrance with stairs leading up to the open-plan living area, where you have a sofa in front of an electric fire and TV. Through an archway you have the kitchen which is compact yet well equipped with everything you could wish for, ready to whip up romantic meals to share. There is a fold-down table with two chairs, which is just the right size for couples.
Up on the second floor you have the beautifully presented double bedroom, complete with a dressing table as well as a wardrobe for all of your belongings. The house is completed with a bathroom. There are beamed ceilings throughout adding to the charm of the property, please note that the bathroom ceiling may be low for taller guests.

The town is immensely proud of its seafaring heritage, with legends of Vikings, smugglers and heroic life boat rescues. You can also hop on board a boat out of the harbour, for a day trip bouncing over the waves of the bracing North Sea. Take in the fresh sea air with a walk down the pier, watch the sunset and see what inspires so many photographers, artists and writers. Scarborough, 20 miles, has beaches. Whitby is 18 miles. The cottage is in the most perfect location as there is so much within walking distance. Within a 5-minute walk and within the beautiful village there is a variety of local shops, tea rooms, ice cream and cake shops, pubs serving food, as well as a fish and chips and pizza takeaway. In addition there are beautiful walks to be taken from the door, an attractive duck pond and the stream down the road from the cottage, and for younger guests a play park within a few minutes’ walk.
