Ellerton House offers outside storage for cycles within it’s gated courtyard with keypad entry. Within the historic market town you’ll find cobbled streets and a colourful selection of quirky galleries and antique shops to browse around. For refreshments you’re spoilt for choice with a wide selection of tea rooms, coffee shops, pubs and restaurants selling local delicacies. The majestic Richmond Castle stands high and proud and is open for visits, while the riverside is a beautiful walkway around the perimeter of the town. The Georgian Theatre Royal is literally on the doorstep of Ellerton House and has a variety of entertainment to showcase. This single-storey accommodation has level access throughout with wide doorways meaning it is easily accessible and will appeal to all ages. It has a spacious open-plan kitchen/dining room with gloss units and a full range of appliances, including a coffee machine, dishwasher and TV to cater for your every need. The living room is spacious with comfortable sofas set around an electric wood burner. Two patio doors open out onto the enclosed south-facing patio... a perfect spot to enjoy a morning coffee taking in the views beyond.
The accommodation extends to two large bedrooms. The first has a kingsize bed and quality bedding - promising a good night’s sleep! It also has an en-suite bathroom with corner shower. Bedroom two offers two single beds which can zip and link to make a super kingsize bed on request, as well as windows at both aspects of the room bringing in the surrounding views. Bedroom two has a TV for your entertainment. A separate bathroom is provided with bath with overhead electric shower.
To the side of the cottage is a lovely enclosed courtyard garden with furniture, ideal for al fresco dining with a glass of wine in the evening. There is the added benefit of a private driveway and space for two cars, with extended parking available on request. Being animal lovers, the owners, who live on-site, are happy to accept up to two well behaved dogs. There is also stabling available on site by private arrangement.
A short walk from the cottage, brings you to the charming hamlet of Ovington and a lovely traditional pub serving home-cooked food and local ales. With so many opportunities to explore whether by car or on foot, the stunning North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the Yorkshire Dales National Park are both within easy reach. A short drive away is the market town of Barnard Castle with its bustling high street full of quaint shops, pubs and cafés, as well as the impressive Bowes Museum. Alternatively, the historic Yorkshire market town of Richmond is great for strolling along the cobbled streets and castle walls. A visit to the beautiful city of York is not to be missed with stunning architecture as well as the incredible York Minster dominating the skyline.
