The open plan living, kitchen and dining area with dining table and 4 chairs, is light and spacious, and has windows looking out over the horses in the field opposite. Customers are welcome to bring their own dog to stay. It should be noted that the owners have their own pets on site (very friendly); a lovely golden retriever, two cats, and 4 horses and 4 sheep.
Situated in the owner’s grounds, yet quietly nestled away, this semi-detached bungalow is 4 miles from the popular village of Lanchester, 3 miles from Consett for supermarkets and pubs and just 11 miles away from the city of Durham. The perfect spot for a quiet break, the village of Lanchester offers a super selection of places to eat, including three local pubs, an Italian restaurant and fish and chip shop. The very well regarded Knitsley Farm Shop is also only a little over 2 miles away and has a fabulous selection of local food and drink, and is definitely worth the trip.
Ideal for guests who enjoy walking and cycling. There are numerous established public footpaths, walks and cycle paths close by, and the nearest cycle path is the C2C. The beautiful hills and valleys of Teesdale and Weardale are both between 20 and 30 minutes’ drive away, and walkers will find themselves surrounded by some of the most scenic countryside that County Durham has to offer. Hadrian’s Wall can be reached within an hour’s drive too and offers a more historic trail for walkers to take. The Derwent Valley Railway Path leads east towards the outskirts of Durham and is very popular with cyclists, whilst the Waskerley Way leads west and on into the vast open spaces of Weardale.

- Warkworth, EnglandSet in Amble’s town centre, ROK House is set back off the road only a few hundred yards from the local amenities and only a short walk to the harbour in this small friendly fishing town. Built in 1935, refurbished in 2018, this terraced home offers the perfect base for families looking to explore Northumberland. The living room has a 49" Smart TV with Freeview and is a great area to relax in. ROK House also has a large open plan living, dining and kitchen area to enjoy those family meals or lazy mornings at the large breakfast bar. The open plan living space even has large bi-fold doors opening onto the rear sitting-out area bringing the outside in. ROK House is a super base to relax in after a day exploring the surrounding area.
Amble has a friendly port with a working harbour, marina and small beach, and you can also find some small pod style shops, popular on a Sunday when the busy market takes place. Around the harbour are some small fish restaurants as well as two fish and chip shops and an Italian style ice cream shop with a fantastic range of ice cream. Boat trips are available here to Coquet Island to see the RSPB bird sanctuary. The historic village of Warkworth is only 2 miles away and makes a lovely walk along the river admiring the view of Warkworth Castle which often holds events through the year. There are pubs, bespoke shops and further opportunities to explore all with free parking, it is a popular place to visit. A few minutes drive from here is the town of Alnwick with its cobbled streets and famous castle which has featured in Harry Potter and Downton Abbey. Alnwick Gardens, with its spectacular grand cascade waterfall and the worlds largest treehouse restaurant should not be missed. - Hexham, EnglandNestled away in Northumberland along a country lane and with views across open fields, Vindomora Country Lodges are an ideal place to enjoy a super holiday. Each lodge boasts a super, open plan living, dining and kitchen area. The living area is spacious and comfortable with a wood burner and views out across the fields. The furnishings are of an excellent standard and the kitchens are fully fitted with all appliances including gas hob, electric oven, fridge, freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. The family bathrooms all boast a great shower, heated towel rail and ample storage space for toiletries. Coria Lodge (ref UKC4416) has been adapted to accomodate wheelchair users, with disabled parking, extra wide ramp access, widened doorways, raised electrical sockets and hoist facilities. The low level entry bathroom has a large shower with bi-folding doors allowing wheelchair access, a grab rail and raised toilet. Each detached lodge also offers a private, 6-seater hot tub (Coria Lodge, ref UKC4416, has a hoist rail system installed) and garden area with garden furniture for sitting out and enjoying the location. These properties are for families and couple bookings only, bookings for party purposes such as stag or hen parties are not accepted.
Perfectly situated near to the banks of the River Derwent with a boat house and fishing permits available for a small fee, guests who enjoy river fishing will be spoilt for choice. Also just a few hundred yards from the Derwent Walkway as well as a variety of established public footpaths, walks and cycling routes, there is no better base for enjoying and exploring the local area. Then leading further out into County Durham, Northumberland, the Northumberland National Park and the stunning North Pennines. Only half a mile from the village of Ebchester, there are plenty of amenities and facilities right on the doorstep. From the harbour, the views towards Warkworth Castle are lovely on a clear day and you can walk to Warkworth from Amble along past the marina and river. Nearby Warkworth is a pretty, picture postcard village dominated by its castle which sits at the top of the village. The local pubs and cafés are all well worth a visit too.
Amble is close to the edge of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, stretching along the beautiful coastline to Berwick-upon-Tweed, with miles of golden beaches and castles.
