Dubber Beck is a fantastic, detached country cottage in the heart of the Southern Lake District, with a large private garden that makes it perfect for your family, friends and dogs to enjoy the country air. Inglenook is located in the centre of Backbarrow in the South Lakes peninsula, a perfect base from which to visit many popular attractions in the Lake District. A short drive away is Newby Bridge. This popular area is home to the Lakes Aquarium and Windermere Lake cruises.

Coopers Cottage is the perfect terraced holiday home for visiting the Lakes. It is perfectly situated near to the main road for getting out and about but far enough away that you hear nothing but the wind in the trees and the birds singing. The cottage has been beautifully restored to a good standard making your stay comfortable. With the multi-fuel burner in the living area and the underfloor heating, you can be toasty warm on those cold winters’ evenings and in the summer you can sit out on the patio offering generous views and access to the paddock. The cottage was once a thriving gunpowder works dating back to 1798 and part of Low Wood Mill gunpowder works located on the estuary with access to the sea, now only the cottages and the clock tower survives today as a reminder of the past. West Cinder Hill is nestled away in the tiny village of Finsthwaite. It has the timeless quality of a place where very little has changed in a century. Enjoy the sound of owls by night from the nearby woods, and by day the gentle sound of sheep and hens. A local beauty spot is High Dam within walking distance and at the end of the village. This small man-made lake is perfect for picnics and allows access onto the fells with fabulous walks and views across to the Langdales and to the Coniston Range of fells. High Dam provided water for the old Bobbin Mill, now a tourist attraction in the village, but once providing employment to 250 men and boys.

West Cinder Hill, it is rumoured, once was the centre of the local rhubarb trade. A large garden remains, on two levels, providing a perfect sanctuary and wonderful views across the valley. Converted from a barn in the 1970s, it has been recently refurbished to a high standard and is the perfect springboard for visiting central and south west Lakes. A steamer calls just a mile or two away, on the shore of Lake Windermere, which takes you to Bowness/Windermere town and further to Ambleside. Adjacent to the jetty is an aquarium, and a short distance away is an impressive motor museum. There is also a steam railway running the short distance from Lake Windermere to Haverthwaite. Stable End Cottage has been converted from an original Lakeland barn, which means this property has a quirky and interesting layout. Built on a slope means there is access from the back on the ground floor and from the front on the lower ground floor. As you enter into the lower ground floor there is a large hallway, two bedrooms and a family bathroom with shower. The open plan living and dining area is perfect to enjoy friends and family time, with a cosy multi-fuel burner to enjoy during those winter nights. The spacious kitchen shares the views of the Rusland Valley and is well appointed. The top floor has a spacious master bedroom and separate family bathroom with bath and shower.
Stable End Cottage is 4 miles away from Hawkshead, a great base for walking, biking and outdoor adventure as well as for escaping the everyday rush of life. A few miles extra and you will be in Ambleside and Lake Conistion, where you can enjoy boat rides and paddle boarding as well as lovely walks, restaurants and shops. On the doorstep is Grizedale Forest, where there is an abundance of walking routes, cycle paths and sculpture trails! Also located here is Go Ape a fun adventure course for the whole family. The home town of the Stan Laurel, half of the famous comedy duo Laurel and Hardy celebrates his birth with The Laurel and Hardy Museum and ‘Another fine fest’, one of the many festivals and events available in the town throughout the year. The beautiful South Lakes area offers a wide selection of breath-taking walks and cycle routes or for the less energetic amongst you there is something for everyone from Michelin starred restaurants, to steam trains, lake cruises, wildlife parks, stately homes, horse racing or even escape rooms. The moment you approach this beautifully converted chapel you know you’re in store for a lovely stay in a unique property. The large wooden chapel doors open to reveal a big hallway with a couple of rooms leading off to the sides. You come to a useful study room first which offers a little privacy or peace and quiet, and opposite is a utility room providing the perfect place to kick off muddy boots and wet coats after a busy day’s walking in the Lakes. A second set of doors open into an impressive, Instagram-worthy living space, with high vaulted ceilings, large leaded windows, and oak beams. Once you catch your breath, you can take in the large kitchen with all the amenities and space required to cater anything from a simple sandwich to a family feast. The breakfast bar is the ideal place to watch the chef show off their skills whilst enjoying a glass of wine before moving the feast to the large dining table, where you could easily imagine you were starring in an epic movie during a medieval banquet. Once you have filled your bellies, transition easily into the comfortable living area with its sumptuous sofas, electric fire, and TV. You can’t fail to notice the first of the bedrooms as your eyes are drawn to the glass fronted stairs leading up to the kingsize bedroom in the rafters of the chapel, where there is also an en-suite bathroom to the left. The remaining three bedrooms consist of two more kingsize beds and a twin room, all with en-suite bathrooms and located on the lower floor level.
The chapel is in the quiet Hamlet of Spark Bridge but offers a great location from to explore the scenery and attractions of the South Lakes area. The iconic Coniston Water is just 4 miles away, offering a great location for wild swimming, paddleboarding or kayaking for those water enthusiasts. Or alternatively within half hour’s drive you can enjoy the world-famous Windermere water offering Lakeside towns to explore with an excellent range of independent shops, restaurants, pubs, or attractions like The World of Beatrix Potter. Take a lake cruise or hire your own motorboat to enjoy this vast expanse of water. Other local attractions include the Motor Museum, Lakes Aquarium, escape rooms, high ropes, and outdoor adventures, right through to horse racing or Michelin star restaurants.
