    It is not unusual to spot little red squirrels and other wildlife around the lodge and surrounding areas so keep your camera at the ready to witness the wildlife close up. The lodge park is set a mile from the very popular wedding venue Le Petit Chateau and nearby Woodhill Hall, so is just perfect for making a relaxing weekend of the occasion. The village store a mile away is ideal for last-minute shopping with a small off licence. The on-site restaurant offers delicious meals with a small bar (check opening times).

    A little further afield, Kielder Water makes a fantastic day out with rugged moors and woodlands, perfect for adventure seekers. The observatory is a real must for star-gazing enthusiasts (booking essential). Bellingham is 9 miles away with a few cafés and a couple of pubs, a butcher, a bakery, and a large food store. If you have time to spare then you must take a trip over to the coast with miles of sandy beaches, friendly villages, and historic castles to explore.

    Bockenfield Country Park isn’t huge so its nice to meet new friends with it’s own children’s play park on-site with a huge pirate ship and a zip wire that children of all ages will love to explore. A small clubhouse/café offers drinks and snacks, and during busier times activities for children and families such as a kids cinema night.
    Ideally located near the A1 between Morpeth and Alnwick, the park is just a short drive to the stunning beaches along the Northumberland coastline. With Alnwick only 9 miles you can visit the stunning gardens and castle, famed for the scenes in Harry Potter and Downton Abbey. The Heritage Coast is a short drive with miles of golden sands, friendly villages and is peppered with historic castles. Inland you have Hadrian’s Wall, which is worth a day trip to visit one of the Roman forts. Morpeth is a lovely little town with ample shops, cafés and pubs, and is only a few miles from your relaxing lodge.
