This charming holiday property is attached to the owners’ Georgian home and is located just south of Chard, near the Devon and west Dorset border. The property has a large shared garden and guests have use of the summerhouse. It offers a great location to enjoy the best of three counties. To the south and within easy driving distance lies the famous World Heritage Jurassic Coast, with the ever popular seaside resorts of Lyme Regis, Beer and Charmouth. To the east is Devon, where one can enjoy days out on the Blackdown Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, with wonderful walking and stunning scenery. In south Somerset there is much to enjoy, including many historic houses such as Montacute House, Forde Abbey Gardens, Tintinhull and Barrington Court, to name a few. A 15-minute drive will take you to the spectacular South Cornwall Coastline and the famous fishing town of Looe. Just along the coast from Looe nestles the tiny fishing village of Polperro, with its harbour and narrow streets. There is a network of footpaths which pass through some of the most scenic countryside in the district, one of which leads directly from the village.

The city of Plymouth is just 18 miles and is home to the award-winning National Marine Aquarium. Our mild winters ensure that many plants are able to thrive in Cornwall. The Lost Gardens of Heligan and the Eden Project are both within 25 miles. There are many historic houses to visit close by including Cotehele, Lanhydrock and Antony. There is horse riding nearby, and golf courses within 20 miles include the ’course that Jack built’ at St Mellion, Looe Bindown and Lanhydrock. Liskeard sports a leisure centre with swimming pool, squash, indoor bowling, badminton and fitness suite. From Liskeard train station you can take the lovely branch line which runs down to Looe through the wooded East Looe Valley. Nearby Siblyback Lake offers windsurfing, dinghy sailing, canoeing and fishing. Mount Edgcumbe Park with its 800 acres of parkland located on the Tamar estuary is also well worth a visit. Set in the gently undulating foothills of Bodmin Moor, Rosecraddoc Manor boasts a history that dates back to the Domesday Book. Rebuilt in the 1820s it is Grade II listed, together with the two bridges in the grounds – one of which forms part of the entrance drive. The manor house and coach house have been converted into apartments, all furnished and equipped to a very high standard, with many luxurious touches that will appeal to the most discerning of visitors. Access to the front door of the Manor is by three stone steps. Some of the accommodation features four poster beds, some offer spa baths and some offer saunas.
Heron is a first floor studio-style apartment, whilst Riverview and Riverbank enjoy a secluded position on the banks of the small cascading river, with pretty aspects across the river and parkland towards the lake – these two cottages include special features to make them suitable for wheelchair users.

Ty Bach Twt (Tiny Little House) is just perfect for two, although there is a sofa bed suitable for an extra person or for alternative sleeping arrangements. Situated on a working sheep farm, Ty Bach Twt was once the cowshed attached to the main barn, Penrhiw (ref UK10403), and has been thoughtfully renovated to provide lovely semi-detached holiday accommodation with delightful rural views. Access is via your own enclosed courtyard with patio furniture; great for enjoying the sight of the visiting red kites when they come to be regularly fed by a neighbour. Inside, the open plan living, dining and kitchen is comfortably furnished and well equipped. Leading off is a double bedroom with an en-suite shower room and toilet.
The nearby village of Llangeitho has a shop and café, great for a cooked breakfast or a snack and suitable for all the day to day essentials, as well as a friendly pub serving home cooked food. The area is abundant with walks and cycle routes (plenty starting from the cottage) and mountain biking opportunities. The market town of Tregaron is 3 miles away and was once a very strategic point for taking animals from the farms in West Wales to markets in England. Before railways, it is said around 30,000 animals were escorted overland on drovers roads through the Cambrian Mountains. Today it’s still a small thriving rural town and is a ’Walkers are Welcome’ town; the annual walking festival held in May is a firm favourite on the walking calendar.
Competitors and visitors come from all over the UK and Ireland for the annual horse trotting and carriage racing too. With independent shops, the Rhiannon Welsh Gold Centre, and an award winning restaurant and pub it’s well worth a visit. Just a mile beyond, you will find the stunning Cors Caron Nature Reserve, over 2000 acres of finest raised bog system with an access-friendly boardwalk route through it. Visit the ruins of the 12th century Cistercian abbey at Strata Florida and of course explore the Cambrian Mountains by road, cycle or foot. A variety of guided walking tours are available via local organisers. A 30-minute drive will bring you to the fantastic Ceredigion coastline where you will find beaches (many dog friendly all year round), dolphin-watching boat trips and the towns of Aberystwyth with its cliff railway, pier and long promenade, plus it is home to one of Wales’ most picturesque steam train journeys through the valley over to Devil’s Bridge. Visit the attractive and colourful Georgian harbour town of Aberaeron, famous for its honey ice cream or and quaint fishing town New Quay, both are great places to go for restaurants, shops, boat rides, and dolphin spotting.
