Along the coast is the lovely little village of Port William, known as the “Machars of Galloway” and of course you must go and find “The Man” and get a photograph with him. A must is a visit to Wigtown, which is famous for being Scotland’s National Book Town, a book lovers haven. The coastal village of Southerness has undoubtedly some of the most outstanding views of the Solway Firth to the English Lake District. Explore the beach and the striking white landmark of the Lighthouse, built in 1749, or challenge yourself on the championship golf course.
