The Old Smithy is a truly unique, traditional, stone built terraced cottage right in the heart of the picturesque coastal town of Anstruther. It has been completely renovated into a welcoming holiday home, yet maintains the traditional character of the building and has incorporated modern and contemporary living style. Guests will find a spacious open plan living area with cosy sofas where you can relax and unwind, and a contemporary kitchen area fitted with good quality appliances and everything you will need to prepare a family meal. The harbour and port of Anstruther has a long and interesting history linked to The Old Smithy, and part of the building was built before 1730 and over time has been a stable, smithy and harbour store. It is located on Wightmans Wynd, which was named after Charles Wightman, a wealthy merchant and smuggler in the 1700’s and also a Jacobite sympathiser. He provided sanctuary for survivors from Culloden in the cellars adjacent to The Old Smithy. The building fell into disrepair, but in 2009 and due to its unique location and as a listed building, an architect took on the challenge of redesigning the cottage and won the Green Apple Award for the Built Environment and Architectural Heritage in 2013.

The Doocot is the latest renovation at East Neuk Orchards. This stunning accommodation has been completed to a high standard; it truly is impressive. Dothan Farm Cottage is warm and welcoming, boosting of views from the back of the property overlooking the Falkland and Lomond hills along with open fields in the front. Great for couples or a family looking for a relaxing holiday or a base to explore the surrounding area.
Set all on one level, the bright and spacious lounge overlooks the open fields in front where there is a small open garden area for sitting and enjoying the sun. In the colder months, snuggle up with a cup of hot chocolate and a book in front of the lovely wood burner. The living room leads to the two comfy double bedrooms, shower room and the new modern kitchen.
The rear garden has a large patio area where you can enjoy the views over the fields and the Lomond Hills. It is set over three levels. The rear garden gives access to the shared parking area. The gardens are private but there are no dividing fences between the neighbours. Although access to the property is primarily gained from the rear where there are 23 steps leading up to the cottage, gaining access into the kitchen, you can also enter through the front door where there are no steps. There is a drop off area to the side of the property for those who may have difficulty with the steps.
