Just ¼ mile from the beach with many walks in the surrounding area, this cottage is perfectly situated for all the local attractions.

Cullen is a wonderful little village, a real treasure trove of cute shops and cafés, and a perfect place to spend some time. Don’t forget to try the local speciality, Cullen skink. The neighbouring villages are well worth a visit and golf can be found nearby also. Further afield, Elgin and Inverness can be reached easily for a day out. Beach ¼ mile. The neighbouring village of Cullen, about 2 miles away, is definitely worth a visit. Why not try the local delicacy of cullen skink (a thick soup made with smoked haddock, potatoes and onions) while you are there? If you are a keen golfer, then there are several courses within easy reach. The working fishing town of Buckie is about 4 miles away, and from here you can take a boat trip on the Gemini Explorer to search for the Moray Firth dolphins. Or, further afield at Spey Bay, you will find the popular Scottish Dolphin Centre and Nature Reserve. The famous Speyside Whisky Trail is also within easy reach and should not be missed. To the rear of the property lies a quaint, gravelled garden that is not only home to handy storage for your beach gear, but to a bubbling hot tub; perfect for those days where you need to relax your muscles after ample walking or cycling along the coast!
The clear waters here are the base for a resident colony of bottlenose dolphins, and there are several companies in the vicinity running wildlife cruises, when you may also spot seals, many seabirds and even whales. Golf enthusiasts have a lovely links course practically on the doorstep, which has stunning views over the bay. Local dishes include Cullen skink, a hearty chowder-like fish soup; the nearby Cullen Bay Hotel holds the title of World Champion for this tasty dish! Moray is also known for its whisky, and there are many famous distilleries within an hour’s drive of the village. Cullen has a great variety of local amenities, good pubs and cafés, as well as a fabulous ice cream shop opposite the property. There is plenty to do here for all ages and abilities.

Travel north to the highest village in the Scottish Highlands, Tomintoul, where a warm welcome awaits. This detached holiday home is set on the outskirts of this quaint village and backs onto fields with the Avonside Hills as a panoramic backdrop. Furnished with style and comfort in mind, it is an ideal base to explore this magical region. Whisky lovers will enjoy the delights of the Whisky Trail, of which the famous Glenlivet is only a short drive away. Plenty of outdoor adventures can be had, horse riding from the village, skiing at nearby Lecht and the Cairngorms where fabulous hillwalking and mountain climbing can be enjoyed. Cyclists will love the Glenlivet Mountain Bike centre too. In addition, Landrover safaris or gorge walking at nearby Bridge of Brown will surely get the adrenalin going. Alternatively, bird watching or deer spotting will suit the less adventurous and for interesting shops and eateries, Tomintoul, Ballater, Grantown-on-Spey and Aviemore are all within easy reach. By total contrast, the beautiful Moray coastline is within an hour’s drive.

The Bothy at Willowbank is our lovely cosy holiday cottage for two at the rear of Willowbank Guesthouse in Grantown on Spey. A tranquil setting, but nearly in the middle of village life. It features an open plan living area, a well-equipped kitchen, a spacious bathroom with large shower, washbasin and toilet, and a double bedroom. You will find The Bothy is a perfect base to stay and explore the surrounding area. Walks, whisky distilleries, and castles are at your doorstep. Just for hibernating, the Bothy is ideal as well. Although you can keep in touch with the outside world, as the cottage has its own Wi-Fi connection. There also is a flat screen television and a BD/DVD player.
Grantown on Spey is part of the Cairngorms National Park. From Grantown you can travel in all directions and explore a large part of the northeast of Scotland, including the famous Speyside whisky distilleries; even Scotland’s west coast can be visited on a day trip.
The Cairngorms National Park is a paradise for walkers, hikers and mountaineers alike. Whether just an evening stroll, one of the long-distance walks or climbing one of the Munros, this is the place to be. Birdwatchers are challenged to spot the birds you can only find in this wonderful part of the world.
Whisky distilleries invite guests to visit and have a taste of this Scottish ‘water of life’. The distilleries all have something special. Breweries use our water for another product, and they also invite guests to visit; and as gin is becoming more and more popular, also distilleries making gin are calling this part of the Highlands home. Other activities nearby include visiting castles, historic houses and gardens, cycling, fishing, golf, steam train, funicular railway to Cairngorm Mountain, visiting museums, wildlife park and reindeer centre. Grantown on Spey offers a choice of shops, pubs and dining facilities, all within walking distance.
