There is plenty of culture to be found in nearby Dundee, 17 miles away, where the Victoria and Albert Museum is located, as well as the RRS Discovery and plenty of good shops and eateries. This is a fantastic area for golf enthusiasts with a selection of country courses in Alyth, Blairgowrie and Kirriemuir nearby, and the famous links course at Carnoustie, all an easy drive. This 17th-century cottage, sits next to a small brewery in a small village on the outskirts of Pitlochry; which is a small but bustling town, with a good variety of shops, places to eat and a theatre that puts on summer shows. The property is just a few minutes from the River Tummel, famous for its salmon fishing. On the outskirts of the town lies an 18 hole golf course with wonderful views across the Tummel Valley. For family entertainment, the Pitlochry Festival Theatre is a must, Faskally Woods and Pitlochry Putting Green are also worth a visit. There are plenty of country walks and cycle paths with lots of wildlife to look out for including deer, wild birds and red squirrels. The historic town of Perth is only 26 miles away. Woodend Farm Barn nestles close to the owner’s home on Woodend Farm, now a 10-acre smallholding where Highland cattle and sheep graze. It was built well before the railway line, which is spanned by two beautiful bridges on the edge of the farm garden.
For many years, the farm operated as an 80-acre pig farm, but in 1999, a 10-acre section was sold off and the new owners completely transformed it. The farmhouse remained, but many of the sheds were taken down to leave just a small section, which was turned into stables. When the current owners took over in 2009, the barn itself was initially used as a machinery store and then a lambing shed, the barn has now been converted into a holiday home with a private hot tub, where guests can relax in the evening with a glass of wine in hand.
