This area provides outdoor activities for all levels of skill. If you prefer more strenuous activities, then mountains such as Ben Vorlich, Ben Chonzie and Ben Lawers provide some excellent walking, with water sports available on Loch Earn, as well as mountain biking. For a less energetic day there are beautiful riverside walks along the banks of the River Earn and Turret. Those interested in golf can enjoy a range of courses in the surrounding area.
This area is steeped in history with tales of the outlaws and the Jacobite rebellion, an historic castle and monuments to visit in the area. If you have been following the TV series ‘Outlander’, Drummond Castle gardens are within 5 miles as are plenty of the locations used in the series, including Doune Castle and Hopetoun House all within driving distance.

For the energetic, there are seven munros to climb within 10 miles, including Ben Lawers, Perthshire’s highest mountain. Schiehallion, Dun Beag and Dun Coillich can be seen from Frith View. It is also ideal countryside for cycling and mountain biking in the forests.
For a day out, and only 5 miles along the road at the end of Loch Tay, is the pretty conservation village of Kenmore where guests can enjoy riverside walks, participate in water sports, take a boat trip on the loch or discover several excellent places to eat. The Croft na Caber Centre, which is a reconstruction of an Iron Age stilt dwelling built over the water is one of the most renowned watersports centres in Scotland. The village hosts regular events, each January there is a ceremony to mark the opening of the salmon fishing season, as the Tay is one of the finest angling rivers, and there is a firework display at New Year. Aberfeldy is only a 20 minutes drive with local interesting independent shops, a supermarket, galleries, eating places, a community run cinema and an award-winning book shop. The famous Dewar’s Whisky Distillery offers tour and sampling and there are riverside walks and white water rafting for the more adventurous. A Highland safari takes you up into the mountains to see local wildlife including deer, peregrine falcons, ospreys and golden eagles. This area has many historic buildings, castles and gardens which you can visit to discover the rich history of the area.
