Several events are also held throughout the year, including ‘The Crieff Highland Games’ and autumn’s ‘Drovers’ Tryst Walking Festival’.

You will be in your element in this area if you are a fan of the outdoors, as the mountains call walkers, hikers and cyclists alike. Loch Earn is ideal for water sports and there are plenty of fishing, golfing, cycling and horse riding opportunities in the surrounding area. Speaking of horse riding, based on the farm there is an equestrian eventing facility, amongst 80 acres of wooded parkland, where you could tackle some of the 100 cross country jumps. If you prefer to stay on your own two feet then walking with the wildlife is highly recommended.

If all that outdoor activity leaves you in search of some retail therapy or a good night out, then the city of Perth is just 7 miles away. Here you will be spoilt for choice with places to wine and dine. You could even go to the theatre! A great way to experience the city is to take a boat trip on the River Tay (seasonal). This area has lots to offer, not least its many historic castles, including Scone Palace, Drummond Castle and Garden, Stirling Castle, Doune Castle, Hopetoun House and for fans of the TV series ‘Outlander’, there are numerous locations used in the making of the series. Cotlea East Cottage is a real find - a beautifully furnished stone cottage with all the trappings you need for an indulgent and restful holiday with your friends or family. Situated just 3 miles from the small town of Alyth, the property has a wealth of attractions and amenities within easy reach. There are some great golf courses here along with super walks in the Den of Alyth, a wooded glen on the outskirts of the town. A few miles beyond is the bustling market town of Blairgowrie with its good selection of shops, restaurants and leisure facilities. Heading west, enjoy a scenic route to the popular town of Pitlochry with its theatre, shops and fish ladder. In the winter months try your hand at skiing at Glenshee, just 20 miles away, or travel a little further and enjoy the stunning scenery of Braemar. Golf, horse riding, hill walking and cycling are all available in abundance in this lovely area.

Relax and enjoy a well-deserved break in this idyllic little semi-detached cottage. Set in the tiny hamlet of Kettins just 1½ miles from the market town of Coupar Angus, it is a pastoral delight, with whitewashed walls surrounded by attractive gardens. The row of cottages are set up a few steps from a tiny village green with a small stream meandering past. Inside, the cottage has been tastefully furnished and retains some original features including arched doorways, high ceilings and wooden floors, with a cosy open fire in the living room leading through to a small kitchen/dining room. At the back the sunny sheltered patio slopes upward to a lovely lawn and is perfect for alfresco meals.
A walkers and cyclists paradise there are plenty of waymarked paths through arable countryside of the Vale of Strathmore through Meigle, Ardler and Coupar Angus to the more challenging glens beyond Blairgowrie. Renowned for its soft fruit, there are plenty of good cafes and restaurants nearby showcasing local produce, and a good range of shops locally and further afield in Dundee and Perth. Glamis Castle, the childhood home of H.M Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, and the Pictish Stone Museum are well worth a visit and the cottage is within half an hour of the Cairngorms National Park. The ski slopes at Glenshee are a short drive and Pitlochry is within easy reach. Golfers have plenty of courses to choose from including Rosemount and Carnoustie, or explore the clean sandy beaches strung out along the east coast. Beach 19 miles.
