Originally a chapel, the building dates back to the 1900s and is located next to the stream and pool where villagers were baptised. Chapelburn is a detached cottage which has undergone a unique and innovative conversion transforming it into a very spacious holiday home. It is the perfect property for guests wanting top quality accommodation, amenities, furnishings and linen in a fabulous location. The hot tub on the elevated decking outside adds to the experience, and taking a plunge in the waterfall fed plunge pool before getting toasty in the sauna will create holiday memories that last. To take full advantage of the south facing location, the decking with clear balustrades is along the full length of the front of the cottage and the ground floor rooms all have doors leading onto the decking with dining table for al fresco dining. The focal point of the cottage is the large open plan living area, furnished to a high standard and a great place for everyone to be together, with an island unit for casual dining or a dining table that can seat eighteen. There is a large TV, extensive DVD collection or bring your own movie collection to stream from your own devices on the 56" TV. Families will also enjoy the added bonus of a 7ft pool table. The well-equipped kitchen area boasts high quality fixtures and fittings and the second living room has a cosy double sided wood burner and comfortable sofas to relax and enjoy the spectacular views. There are also three well-presented bedrooms with patio doors leading onto the decking area. On the first floor, the two further super kingsize bedrooms benefit from balcony windows providing great views. Guests will find plenty of outdoor space with ample garden furniture and a footpath down to the loch side.
There is lots to do in the area and the conservation village of Kenmore at the east end of Loch Tay has a shingle beach and great views down the loch where guests can enjoy water sports, loch cruises or maybe a spot of fishing. There is a local shop, a post office, deli, the oldest inn in Scotland, restaurants and the Cranog, a reconstruction of an Iron Age stilt dwelling built over the water. Kenmore hosts a traditional ceremony each January to mark the opening of the salmon season on the loch. This area is well known for outdoor activities with lots of walking and climbing opportunities available. Fearnan is at one end of the Tay Forest Park and leads to the hamlet of Fortingall, home of the Fortingall Yew, the oldest tree in Europe. At the far end of the loch is Killin and the Falls of Dochart, and a superb drive from here to the Bridge of Balgie leads to the top of Glen Lyon, the longest in Scotland. Golf is widely available throughout the region as well as horse riding, fishing, quad biking, bird-watching and cycling. The area provides outdoor activities for all abilities, and if you prefer more strenuous activities, then mountains Ben Vorlich, Ben Chonzie and Ben Lawers provide excellent walking with water sports on Loch Earn and mountain biking. For the less energetic there are riverside walks along the banks of the River Earn and Turret. The area is also steeped in history with historic castles and monuments to visit. Famous for being in the TV show Outlander, Drummond Castle Garden is 2 miles away, as well as other locations seen in the show such as Doune Castle and Hopetoun House. In the winter, the hills are perfect for sledging or skiing on gentle slopes, and spring and summer brings longer evenings to enjoy the wild birds and flowers, and with very little light pollution, enjoy the stars in the night sky.
The attractive Highland village of Killin is within walking distance along a quiet pathway where you will find bars, cafés, bistros, restaurants, shops, a 9-hole golf course and the spectacular Falls Of Dochart. Killin plays host to events throughout the year including the Highland games and a fireworks display on New Year’s Eve.
This part of Scotland is steeped in history and legend. Acharn was once owned by the McNab clan and there are many other historic sites and buildings to visit close by including Finlarig Castle. Follow mountain biking trails through the forest, or enjoy white water rafting on the River Tay, bungee jumping and horse riding, all available close by. Golf enthusiasts are spoilt for choice with numerous 9 and 18-hole courses in the area. - Blairgowrie, ScotlandWaterloo Farm House is a traditional, stone-built, C-listed, detached cottage with a generous sized garden, providing a wonderful place for couples, friends and families to relax and enjoy this excellent property. Set in the quiet hamlet of Waterloo, it is believed that the original properties in the area were built for the soldiers returning from the Napoleonic Wars or for the widows of soldiers who did not return from the famous battle. It is thought that Waterloo Farm House was built around 1815 and in recent times was a berry farm but is no longer a working farm.
This beautiful cottage has been completely rebuilt internally to provide a modern layout and was just completed in summer 2019, yet still maintains its original charm and character. The village of Bankfoot is just 1 mile away, with a pavement all the way from the cottage and is very handy for a local store or one of the two local small hotels with bars. The attractive town of Dunkeld is only 5 miles away and makes a great day out with its historic cathedral and buildings, and a good selection of quality restaurants, coffee shops, delis, interesting independent shops, galleries and walks along the River Tay. Birnam is close by and is one of the best preserved historic towns in Scotland. The Arts Centre is home to the Beatrix Potter Exhibition and Garden which is well worth a visit. Walk along the riverside and discover magnificent old trees in the Birnam Wood which was mentioned in Shakespeare’s Macbeth. The bustling city of Perth is only 10 miles away and is packed with places to eat and drink and has a theatre, museum, swimming pool and a great selection of shops including high street names and local boutiques. The railway stations at both Perth and Dunkeld have frequent services to Inverness and Aviemore, or you could be in the centre of Edinburgh in just over an hour without the stress of finding parking.
