For guests with small children, toddlers and babies, the owners have put great thought into providing additional extras to make your stay a little easier. Facilities include a travel cot (spare linen available), highchair, changing mat, booster seat, bed guard, baby bath and a baby monitor. Even meal preparation has been considered too, with a hand-held food blender and bottle steriliser on hand. There are no low-level glass doors and all lower units are fitted with child locks. Westburn is truly the ideal retreat for greater peace of mind.

Great for walkers and cyclists of all abilities, from your front door there are many established public footpaths and cycle paths that lead directly out into the heart of rural Perthshire. The River Earn runs through the village and provides the perfect landscape for an afternoon stroll. For a more exhilarating walk, head to the Deil’s Cauldron where the River Lednoch cascades through a rocky gorge. There is a very scenic golf course, fishing, bowling and Loch Earn, 6 miles away, offering sailing and watersports.

For a family day out Auchingarrich Wildlife Centre is a short drive away and has much to offer all ages with a children’s play area, covered walkway to view the wildlife and a restaurant. The cottage is the former Coach House to Heath Park, a listed property used by Beatrix Potter in the 1890s. Set in an elevated position on a quiet private road in the Victorian conservation village of Birnam, this cottage has its own garden within the grounds of the owner’s property. Set in the tiny hamlet of Kettins just 1½ miles from the market town of Coupar Angus, it is a pastoral delight, with whitewashed walls surrounded by attractive gardens. Inside, the cottage has been tastefully furnished and retains some original features including arched doorways, high ceilings and wooden floors, with a cosy open fire in the living room leading through to a small kitchen/dining room. A walkers and cyclists paradise there are plenty of waymarked paths through arable countryside of the Vale of Strathmore through Meigle, Ardler and Coupar Angus to the more challenging glens beyond Blairgowrie. Renowned for its soft fruit, there are plenty of good cafes and restaurants nearby showcasing local produce, and a good range of shops locally and further afield in Dundee and Perth. Glamis Castle, the childhood home of H.M Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, and the Pictish Stone Museum are well worth a visit and the cottage is within half an hour of the Cairngorms National Park. The ski slopes at Glenshee are a short drive and Pitlochry is within easy reach. Golfers have plenty of courses to choose from including Rosemount and Carnoustie, or explore the clean sandy beaches strung out along the east coast. Beach 19 miles. Crieff, 7 miles, is where you will find several amenities, including a popular delicatessen, cafés and a supermarket, as well as an array of shops. But, perhaps more appealing, is ‘The Famous Grouse whisky distillery’, at Glenturret, where you can take a tour – you might even get a taste! Several events are also held throughout the year, including ‘The Crieff Highland Games’ and autumn’s ‘Drovers’ Tryst Walking Festival’.

You will be in your element in this area if you are a fan of the outdoors, as the mountains call walkers, hikers and cyclists alike. Loch Earn is ideal for water sports and there are plenty of fishing, golfing, cycling and horse riding opportunities in the surrounding area. Speaking of horse riding, based on the farm there is an equestrian eventing facility, amongst 80 acres of wooded parkland, where you could tackle some of the 100 cross country jumps. If you prefer to stay on your own two feet then walking with the wildlife is highly recommended.

If all that outdoor activity leaves you in search of some retail therapy or a good night out, then the city of Perth is just 7 miles away. Here you will be spoilt for choice with places to wine and dine. You could even go to the theatre! A great way to experience the city is to take a boat trip on the River Tay (seasonal). This area has lots to offer, not least its many historic castles, including Scone Palace, Drummond Castle and Garden, Stirling Castle, Doune Castle, Hopetoun House and for fans of the TV series ‘Outlander’, there are numerous locations used in the making of the series. The location boasts, a quick walk to local restaurants such as a coffee shop, deli, fruit/veg shop, award-winning butcher, gift shops, pubs and grocery shops. Yet is completely secluded, surrounded by stunning woodland; it’s peaceful and hidden!
The private, steep, woodland drive makes this a perfect romantic get-away, or an exciting adventure for those wanting to get away from life’s hustle and bustle. The incline is accessible by all cars and small vans.
Great base for walks from the doorstep and local bike hire with great paths to follow. Families will love also a trip to Auchingarrich Wildlife Centre, home to a variety of exotic and more familiar wildlife. Take a day trip to the city of Perth and the newly opened museum, housing the Stone of Destiny. Or try the famous Scone Palace and enjoy a stroll along the River Tay.
The cottage retains much of its original character and has a wonderfully secluded feel, set on high ground and surrounded by nature and an abundance of birds, red squirrel, pheasants, deer and wildlife. Outside there’s a woodland and spacious garden, although you may find it hard to tear your eyes from the stunning views! The outdoor firepit is memorising on a clear night with the twinkly stars. Ardross welcomes well behaved dogs!

Situated in the picturesque town of Aberfeldy in Highland Perthshire, Tayberry Cottage will appeal to couples and families, with outdoor activities, magnificent scenery, great places to eat on your doorstep. Renovated in 2021 to a high standard while maintaining character and charm, this traditional semi-detached stone cottage makes a welcoming and comfortable holiday home at any time of year. The cottage is entered by a small porch into the living/dining room with a wood burner, comfortable seating and dining table. The bright kitchen is fitted with modern appliances and a breakfast bar, well-equipped for preparing a meal. A handy utility room leads to the large shower room, with a glass-screened walk-in shower. On the first floor are two well-presented bedrooms, the main bedroom with a kingsize bed and the second bedroom with twin beds.

Tayberry Cottage is set back from the main street in a quiet location. Whilst we welcome up to two well behaved dogs, please be aware the cottage has no outdoor space available for pet use, however Victoria Park is only 5 minutes’ walk. We’re not able to offer scenic views but the cottage makes up for this with location and charm. A great selection of restaurants, coffee shops, bars and a traditional high street with butchers, bakers and supermarkets, delis and galleries all within a few minutes’ walk. The community run local cinema has an up-to-date programme and is just a short walk from your door. The River Tay passes through the town and there are walks in all directions up into the hills or along the riverside; The Birks of Aberfeldy is a good family walk following a waterfall.

A short drive takes you to the village of Kenmore at the head of Loch Tay, which has shingle beach and breath-taking views down the loch. There are water sports, loch cruises, a friendly local shop and post office, a café, a deli, restaurants and the oldest Inn in Scotland. Croft na Caber Centre, a reconstruction of an Iron Age stilt dwelling built over the water, is ideal for all ages.

The area is well known for outdoor activities, with walking and climbing opportunities - the energetic can attempt Ben Lawers (Perthshire’s highest mountain). At the far end of the loch is Killin and the Falls of Dochart, and a superb drive from here to the Bridge of Balgie leads to the top of Glen Lyon. Golf is widely available throughout the region as well as horse riding, quad biking, cycling and wildlife spotting. To explore further afield, Dunkeld, Pitlochry, Aviemore and Perth make great days out.
