In the heart of glorious Highland Perthshire, this fabulous lodge is set in a wonderful position overlooking the loch and deer park at Glengoulandie. This small country park covers 35 acres and is situated between Aberfeldy and Pitlochry, surrounded by stunning scenery – the famous peak of Schiehallion is just down the road.
Spacious, smart, yet warm and welcoming, the lodge features patio doors from the open plan living/dining and kitchen areas, opening onto a large fully enclosed deck running the full width of the lodge. High ceilings, full length windows and underfloor heating make it a light and airy as well as cosy throughout the year. You will not tire of looking at the water and mountains beyond, with the ever-changing light. Grocery deliveries to the lodge can be arranged by booking an online delivery slot from nearby supermarkets.
The loch and surroundings are brimming with wildlife – geese and ducks are resident most of the year and a wide selection of other birds and wildlife are often seen, as well as squirrels, pine marten and of course the deer. There are good walks from the doorstep – take a circular route through the deer farm beyond the loch and back again or try more challenging options up any of the seven Munros within 10 miles; Schiehallion itself or Ben Lawers, the highest mountain in the region. Cycling and mountain biking are popular round here, with amazing views and challenging roads.
For a more leisurely day out, visit the pretty conservation village of Kenmore (5 miles) at the northern end of Loch Tay. There are water sports aplenty here such as sailing, canoeing, water-skiing, jet-biking, or if you prefer to stay on dry land fishing, pony trekking and golf. Good eateries and shops will complete a great day out. Aberfeldy is only a 20 minutes’ drive with local interesting independent shops, a supermarket, galleries, eating places, a community-run cinema and an award-winning book shop.
The famous Dewar’s Whisky Distillery offers tour and sampling and there are riverside walks and white water rafting for the more adventurous. A Highland safari takes you up into the mountains to see local wildlife including deer, peregrine falcons, ospreys and golden eagles. With two stylish bedrooms and beautiful quality furnishings throughout, the high ceilinged open plan living room/kitchen features an eyecatching wood burner flanked by full length picture windows, making the most of the view for the ultimate relaxing experience. Islabank Farmhouse (ref SAAP) is a traditional, characterful, comfortable farmhouse which is ideal for families. Curlew Cottage (ref SYYJ) is a charming, beautifully converted, detached, single-storey property and a haven for wildlife. Still part of the farm but located 4 miles away is Osprey Cottage (ref UZQ), a delightful, light and sunny, single-storey detached cottage.

In an idyllic rural location, in the heart of rural Perthshire, yet only 4 miles from the popular market town of Blairgowrie, this gorgeous holiday home is set in the wonderful grounds of Mains of Glasclune. Although attached to the owner’s residence the cottage is totally self-contained has a lovely private hot tub for exclusive use, this is a nature lover’s paradise!
Surrounding the property are two peaceful woodland areas bursting with wildlife including deer, ospreys, otters and red squirrels, which are regularly seen from the lounge and kitchen windows of the property. The owners welcome you to explore the woods which are criss-crossed with winding paths and seating areas. There is also a fishing lake which guests can make use of, not to mention the attractive ruins of Glasclune Castle also within the grounds, a Grade I Historic Building.
If you can tear yourself away, there are easy to moderate walks locally, more strenuous ones within driving distance in the Angus Glens and on and off road cycle tracks nearby. The Cateran Trail, a circuit through Perthshire and Angus glens, can be joined at the end of Woodside’s drive. In addition, many castles, stately homes and gardens abound in the vicinity including Glamis and Scone Palace. If you were to book Woodside in the winter months, the road leading up to the property is an upwards hill, this is mainly suited for four wheel drive vehicles but any other may find it difficult to climb. Blairgowrie has a good selection of places to eat, drink and shop as well as the Cargill’s Leap landmark to the north of the town. For golfers there are almost too many courses to mention but notably St Andrews, Carnoustie, Rosemount (in Blairgowrie itself) and Gleneagles are within an hour’s drive. Winter skiing is available at Glenshee or for more relaxed days out explore the cities of Perth, Dundee and Edinburgh, all within easy reach.

Farmhall Farmhouse sits in the Earn Valley on the edge of Forgandenny village, between Bridge of Earn and Dunning. Dunning is just 4 miles away and has a very popular pub and restaurant. Surrounded by beautiful countryside and yet just 15 minutes’ drive from Perth. If you are looking for a family get together or just some peace and quiet away from it all, you have come to the right place. Enjoy socialising and relaxing in the large traditional farmhouse kitchen with a wonderfully warming Aga and plenty of space to sit around the dining table. Next door in the lounge you can spend your evenings reading or watching TV in front of the open fire. Along the spacious hallway there is a large room where brides can get ready for their weddings or can be used as an additional room for playing table tennis, relaxing, or playing cards or some board games. Upstairs there are great views to be had from all four bright and spacious bedrooms, along with two large bathrooms. You can take your pick from the king size bedroom, the double bedroom or one of the two rooms with twin beds.

Set amidst the gloriously beautiful landscape near the top of Glenisla, the location of this very comfortable detached cottage will delight walkers and bird watchers alike. Cosy and traditionally furnished, Dalvanie Mill sits on a small working farm, an ideal location for enjoying the local area’s superb walking, golf, riding and fishing. Just 8 miles away lie the winter ski slopes at Glenshee and a scenic 35 mile drive leads to Pitlochry’s famous fish ladder, theatre and quality shops. Shop/PO and inn serving food 7 miles.

This lovely detached log cabin, with a turf roof, has been carefully furnished throughout to provide stylish and welcoming accommodation. Its idyllic location, amongst a variety of trees in a secluded position, yet within easy access to the village of Kirkmichael, makes it a real haven for relaxation. Watch the variety of wildlife on the doorstep - plenty of red squirrels, roe deer and woodland birds who love the peaceful environment, can be easily seen. The property really is a hideaway, accessed by a non-tarmac track and in winter, the track can get snowy and icy. However, the owners are on hand should you need assistance.
From the sloping 3-acre garden, interspersed with pathways, there are excellent walks through the mixed woodland onto heath and moor which opens up to breathtaking views, perfect for hill and dog walkers. In particular there is the Cateran Trail – a 100 mile circular walk through the Angus Glens and Perthshire. Winter sports at Glenshee Ski Slopes provide extensive skiing and snowboarding facilities, and are located just a short drive away. The popular towns of Pitlochry and Blairgowrie are just 13 miles equidistant with a great variety of shops, a theatre, fine dining restaurants, cafés and a distillery, all well worth a visit. Golfers can test their skills on over 30 courses in the area, and for the more adventurous there is mountain biking, fishing and horse riding. Throughout the year many events are held in the region including The Strathardle Gathering every August (Highland Games), The Etape Caledonia Cycling Event in May, The Perthshire Open Studios and The Blairgowrie Book Festival in October, which can be enjoyed whilst staying in this lovely property.
