Perthshire is well known for outdoor activities for all ages. More strenuous activities in the mountains such as Ben Vorlich, Ben Chonzie and Ben Lawers provide challenging walks. Nearby Loch Earn has water sports as well as mountain biking at nearby Comrie Croft. There are gentle strolls by the riverside along the banks of the River Earn and Turret from the front door and the local park has a children’s play area. Discover the history of Crieff with tales of the outlaws and the Jacobite rebellion, visit historic castles and monuments and if you have been following the TV series ’Outlander’, Drummond Castle gardens are within 5 miles, as are plenty of the locations used in the series, including Doune Castle and Hopetoun House all within driving distance. Dating back to the 1820s, this semi-detached property was home to the Co-operative manager during the 1900s. It was then purchased by the current owners in the 1970s, and recently refurbished in 2021. The Fair City of Perth is a short drive away, with its concert hall, theatre, museum, art galleries, great shops and superb restaurants. There are many golf courses in the area, including St Andrews, less than an hour’s drive. Along the way, explore the beaches and villages of the east coast of Fife or head north for a day in the Highlands. An hour’s drive will get you to Edinburgh or Glasgow, to enjoy the history and culture of these major cities.

Built in the 1800s, the cottage was originally for the river keeper at the world’s first salmon hatchery, and the ruins of the ‘fishponds’ are visible from the garden today. The owners have made the most of the location with careful design of the garden which leads down to the river, allowing direct access to the riverbank trails along the River Tay, and nearby a well-maintained lade trail which boasts a beautiful scenic walk leading to a small isolated natural beach, Horsey Pool and Stanley Mills.

The owners really want you to enjoy your stay and are very knowledgeable about the river and surrounding area. A nature lover’s paradise, the lade trail offers a rare opportunity to glimpse beavers and otters which are regularly sighted.
