There are gardens to both front and rear, and it is just a few minutes’ walk into the village where there is a priory, as well as local shops and a couple of cosy pubs serving food. You can also enjoy circular walks round the village. Sandy, sheltered Coldingham Bay, popular with surfers and divers, is 20 minutes’ walk, and Coldingham Loch offers fly fishing. St Abbs is a fishing harbour with a café/restaurant, and St Abbs Head National Nature Reserve is a coastal headland with breathtaking panoramic views and awesome cliffs where thousands of seabirds nest in the spring. You can enjoy amazing coastal walks, including a 30-mile route from Berwick-upon-Tweed to Cockburnspath, or take a boat trips from Seahouses to the Farne Islands, or from Berwick-upon-Tweed on the River Tweed out into the North Sea. Edinburgh is under an hour by train from Berwick, a fascinating Elizabethan walled town. There is a working harbour and golf in Eyemouth, historic houses and castles galore, fishing nearby, and plenty of crafts and galleries. Beach 1¼ miles. Shop, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

The Yetholm Loch wildlife reserve can be reached along beautiful woodland walks and is home to many species of birds and animals. If you are lucky you may see an osprey swooping down to catch a fish or an otter playing in the sunshine. There is a family boat which guests are welcome to use for fishing or for the fun of rowing surrounded by wonderful scenery.
The village of Yetholm is a couple of miles away with pubs, garage, butcher, grocery store and post office. Kelso is only 7 miles away with supermarkets and a wide range of shops. Edinburgh and Alnwick with its famous gardens are about an hours drive. Shop, pub and restaurant 2½ miles.

Lauder, 8 miles, has a good selection of local shops and pubs as well as a golf course. Fishing and shooting can be arranged and horse riding is available locally. Excellent hill walking can be found on the Lammermuirs or Cheviot Hills and on the nearby Southern Upland Way, 2 miles. Thirlstane Castle, Mellerstain House and Floors Castle are just three of the many grand houses to visit nearby.
Edinburgh is a must for a day trip. This historic and magical city evokes the imagination of all ages. Dominated by the imposing castle, there are excellent tours of the city and castle as well as wonderful shopping, pubs, restaurants, cinemas and theatres. The Royal Yacht Britannia is permanently docked in the historic medieval port of Leith, and can be boarded for an interesting insight into how the Royal Family lived whilst at sea. An hour south of Edinburgh, set by the side of the beautiful River Tweed on the edge of the Border village of Walkerburn, this south-facing spacious holiday cottage enjoys uninterrupted views of the river and the hills beyond. Ideal for carefree family holidays or friends, it is very comfortably furnished with a good sized, enclosed garden surrounding. Take relaxing walks along the river or more strenuous hikes up into the hills from the doorstep. Try the adrenalin rush of downhill biking at Innerleithen, mountain tracks in Glentress or the Go Ape ropes course, only four miles away. Nearby, visit historic Traquair House, Kailzie Gardens and Dawyk Botanic Garden, with lots of choice of restaurants, coffee shops and independent shopping in Innerleithen (two miles), and Peebles (eight miles). There is a children’s play park 150 metres away from the cottage. There is a coffee shop and Post Office/small shop in the village but no other facilities like electric car charging points or any facilities for e-bikes this includes at the property.

Just a few minutes walk from the pretty conservation village of Denholm with its village greens, good pubs and a restaurant, this spacious cottage is privately situated near the entrance to the owner’s home, which is ¼-mile further on. Set in mature woodland and a small stream bordering the open garden, it’s an idyllic place for children to play and explore, or for others to simply soak up the peace and tranquillity. Situated by the woodland of Duns Castle is this comfortable, two bedroom, detached holiday home. Duns Castle is famous as the setting for the film ’Mrs Brown’ and as a wedding location for the footballer Robbie Fowler.

Duns is approximately 15 miles from the town of Berwick-upon-Tweed (which has a main line railway station) and 40 miles from Edinburgh. The local Borders towns of Kelso, Melrose and Jedburgh are steeped in history and well worth a visit. Just over the border you have the attractions of Etal and Ford. There are various activities available locally or further afield. Shop, pub and restaurant 300 yards.

Located on Chirnside Main Street in a traditional stone house, this excellently presented and finished holiday home has been created with the comfort and experience of guests in mind. Internally the property is formed over two levels with generous sized accommodation. The ground floor has an attractive open plan living/dining/kitchen space, which is finished to a good standard. The kitchen area is well equipped, more than enough to prepare and enjoy a nice romantic meal or cater for four if you have guests for dinner. On the first floor, there is a kingsize bedroom and the bathroom is in a slightly quirky location off the bedroom providing an almost ‘en-suite’ bathroom.
With some of the prettiest views to the rear, over the rolling countryside of the Borders and towards Northumberland, you’ll find yourself wishing to explore some of the walking routes of the area. Just minutes from Berwick-upon-Tweed and the Northumbrian coast and easily accessible to Edinburgh and central Scotland by car, this property would be suitable as a base to enjoy the surrounding attractions for the duration of your stay.
The village has local shops and restaurants, however the nearby towns of Duns and Berwick-Upon-Tweed are stocked with activities and attractions to suit all ages both day and night. Without a doubt, whatever the time of year we would suggest a trip and long walk along one of Northumberland’s beautiful white sandy beaches. April Cottage is situated in the popular country village of Gordon, which boasts a café and a public house serving great home cooked food during the day. There is a well-stocked mini market and pub that serves evening meals in Greenlaw (4 miles). A wider range of shops and supermarkets can be found in Kelso (8 miles), and Galashiels (15 miles). The cottage is very well presented and dates to the mid-1800s where it was originally a stable and then converted into cottages in the 1920s, retaining all the charm of its period features with a rendered front face and the original local stone to the rear.

The garden area is enclosed and private with a patio offering space for al fresco drinks and dining. Inside there is an open plan living/dining room with a cosy wood burner aesthetic wooden floors and French doors leading to the garden. The kitchen is small but well-equipped with a good level of appliances, providing everything you could need to rustle up hearty home cooked meals. On the first floor is a comfortable kingsize bedroom and a single bedroom, both served by a family bathroom. Two private parking space are available to the front of the property.

The area is a walker’s paradise and there is fishing on the River Blackadder, permits are available in Greenlaw village. The nearby historic monument of Greenknowe Tower dates to 1581, while Hume Castle and Mellerstain House and Gardens are worth a visit, along with Dryburgh Abbey. Edinburgh is an hour away by train from nearby Tweedbank station with free parking, or you can drive. There is easy access by road to the Berwickshire coastline, approximately 30-minute drive. Melrose is a popular tourist town and can be reached in a 20-minute drive. Floors Castle in Kelso is a day out place and there’s a café and garden centre and a dog walk by the river. Bamburgh, with its majestic castle and stunning beaches, and Holy Island, known as Lindisfarne (accessible at low tide), are fabulous for days out and are just over an hour away. This classic ‘two up, two down’ house in Lauder provides the perfect base for a couple or small family or group that wishes to utilise the double sofa bed in the living room. With links to Edinburgh to the north and the treasures throughout the Scottish Borders in every other direction the property is perfect for those wishing to explore the area.
The property has been carefully planned out with guests at the forefront of the owners’ minds. The living room is comfortably furnished with a three-seater sofa and reclining armchair. The well equipped kitchen has an electric oven and ceramic hob, fridge freezer with cool drinks and ice dispensers and a Tassimo coffee machine for lazy mornings. On the upper level the double bedroom has again been very tastefully presented and provides a dressing table, wicker chair, hairdryer, two double wardrobes and travel cot..
