This excellent property stands detached amid its own enclosed garden, in a peaceful setting, in the attractive Shropshire village of Baschurch. Spacious rooms, seating in the dining room for 14 guests, modern conveniences, and a full range of leisure amenities make it an excellent choice for large family holidays or group gatherings whatever the season. Adding to the family-friendly atmosphere, bedroom 2 and bedroom 6 both have a permanent cot available. Suitable for less mobile guests the property benefits from a double bedroom on the ground floor along with a toilet and shower facility. Guests also benefit from year-round use of an indoor heated swimming pool (approx. 28 degrees), gym, indoor 7-seater hot tub (with 62 jets) and games room with pool table and darts, all available 2 pm-7 pm, as well as their own enclosed lawned garden complete with furniture and barbecue.
Close to the village church, the house is also conveniently located within a short walking distance of 2 pubs/restaurants and a village shop. Just northwest of historic Shrewsbury and close to the Welsh borders, Field House stands in an ideal position for exploring and sightseeing within this lovely region. England’s largest inland county, Shropshire remains one of the country’s least populated and unspoilt landscapes, where bustling ancient market towns lie encompassed by acres of countryside. This is an area immersed in history, with the Domesday Book association, noteworthy castles which include the English Heritage castle at Moreton Corbet, the hilltop remains at Montgomery and Clun to the south, and of course, the splendid sandstone fortifications which dominate the centre of Shrewsbury.
Whether you crave activity, history, culture or shopping, nearby towns have plenty to offer all tastes and ages. Oswestry boasts the legendary King Oswald’s Well - said to have curative powers, Wroxeter the fourth largest city in Roman Britain is only 5 miles outside of Shrewsbury on the way to the historic Ironbridge Gorge and Blists Hill Victorian Town. The RAF Museum at Cosford, Attingham Park (National Trust), Hawkstone Historic Park and Follies, a 10-mile ride on the Llangollen railway through the stunning Dee Valley, or 18 holes of golf at Oswestry Golf Course - all are within easy reach of Field House. The Tumbling Sailor’s name derives from an old pub which was previously on the site called The Tumbling Sailors Inn. It was demolished in the early 1900s. This marvellous Shropshire cottage offers groups of up to six a wonderful stay located on the bank of the River Severn, and in the heart of Jackfield, you’re only one mile from the Ironbridge Gorge.
The cottage has a stylish interior, with modern features, and little touches of rural charm. You’ll love the comfy furnishings, oak beams, and exposed brick. A great spot to socialise with your loved ones is in the open plan living/dining room with comfy sofas, views across the garden and complete with a wood burner. You can stay toasty and enjoy a glass of wine long into the evening. This room also has a large wooden dining table with plenty of space for your entire group, and if that’s not enough there’s a conservatory with more seating to relax in and enjoy a book or cup of tea first thing. The property’s modern kitchen has all you need to cook up lovely meals, including a large Range oven.
The three bedrooms all sit on the first floor. The master boasts a kingsize bed, whilst the second bedroom has a double bed, and the third two singles for all your sleeping arrangements covered. There’s plenty of space and all have been decorated in calming tones but still showcasing that homely cottage feel. A large family bathroom with a luxurious corner bathtub and shower completes the first floor. Outside the River Severn sits at the bottom of the garden, offering you beautiful views and sounds from the river, and ideal for kayaking and paddleboarding. There are steps leading down, along the way you’ll find lovely seating areas, and impressive gardens great on those sunny days. The garden is enclosed so that your furry friends can roam freely and there’s lots of space for everyone to enjoy a meal outside.
You’re located near to the wonderful village of Ironbridge, it’s just a quick, 15-minute walk from the cottage where you’ll find quaint cafes, great pubs and restaurants and independent shops to explore. The Ironbridge Gorge UNESCO World Heritage site is a now a maze of footpaths, bridleways, and country lanes. Whilst the village is famous for being home of the world’s first iron-built bridge, built between 1777-79 a collection of ten industrial and Victorian themed museums makes up the Ironbridge Museums Trust, including the exciting Blists Hill Victorian Village. Within driving distance are the popular historical towns of Shrewsbury, Bridgnorth, Much Wenlock and Ludlow, as well as the Wroxeter Roman City, the Severn valley Railway, the RAF Cosford Museum, and many National Trust properties. The Tumbling Sailor is a wonderful base from which to explore the beautiful county of Shropshire. Pub and restaurant within 1 mile.

This large sandstone 17th-century holiday cottage stands detached on the banks of the River Severn with stunning views of the Severn Valley from both the house and the delightful lawned garden. It is located just 50 yards from Highley station and the Engine House Museum on the Severn Valley Railway, with steam trains running past the rear of the cottage. Journey from Marylebone station and change at Kidderminster to complete the fabulous journey by steam train. It is a perfect location for exploring the beautiful Severn Valley with its many footpaths, bridleways and river walks, with the famous Severn Way passing directly in front of the cottage and a country park just 50 yards away. This famous stretch of Stanley Water on the River Severn is one of the most prolific for barbel fishing in the country, producing barbel to 17lb on the BAA stretch of water outside the cottage. There are also two day ticket stretches at £6 per day, and lots of local carp fishing lakes. The Astbury 18-hole, award-winning golf course is a 5-minute drive away. The West Midlands Safari Park is a 15-minute drive away, and this property makes an excellent base for visiting Bridgnorth, Bewdley, Ludlow, Worcester, Ironbridge, Wenlock Edge and the Long Mynd, all within an hour’s drive. A grand old country house, still a family home – Buntingsdale Hall, an 18th Century masterpiece, stands in its own grounds overlooking the River Tern not far from the pretty county town of Market Drayton.
Approached down a mile long private drive, the principal apartment of the Victorian wing is yours. Following sensitive modernisation the apartment has all the comfort one expects but the grand bedrooms and drawing room with 18 ft. high ceilings retain all their Victorian splendour.
Think huge; supper in an enormous eat-in family kitchen, cocktail hour in the elegant living room. Relax on the big sofas, mix cocktails from the 1950s bar cart in front of the fire; maybe find out who killed Miss Scarlet from the board games trunk, while the little ones build wooden trains from the kids’ trunk - they’ll be too busy to look at their phones! After supper, the party continues down in the former servant’s hall, now a games room, with a full size snooker table, roulette wheel, darts, table tennis and roaring fire.

Outside there’s a private secluded courtyard with a BBQ and a big table for all, and walks directly from the door. Do bring Fido; you can all walk a couple of miles across the fields to the pub in Market Drayton which has hearty food all day, brews its own beer, loves dogs and kids, with big tables and fires.
Within the estate is a private lake -carry one of our kayaks down with your picnic and barbecue gear and enjoy the stars. One of the most unspoilt parts of the UK for stargazing. Around you are all kinds of wildlife rarely glimpsed, birds of prey, kingfishers, badgers and wild fishing. Old fashioned fun: children can make camps and swing on trees, paddle. There’s a boat or they can borrow a bike and ride down the private drive to swim in the local millpond. There’s a fire pit with straw bales for a warm fire in the evening. Throughout the year there are numerous food festivals and regattas. It’s a great place to visit.
For the more adventurous travel seekers there are various walks and outdoor activities nearby including circular trails that are on your doorstep in the village of Dorrington, along with a village shop, a pub and a couple of restaurants. Visit Bridgnorth with its renowned funicular railway or take a trip on the Severn Valley Railway to experience the delights of the bygone era of steam travel. If you like walking, there are plenty of places to visit, including the Long Mynd, Clee Hills or Stiperstones. Telford is only 20 miles away and the Ironbridge Gorge with Blists Hill Museum and numerous activities for sunny or wet days. Ludlow with its castle and reputation for good eateries and art shops is 30 minutes’ away.
There are opportunities to ride, play golf, fish or even experience the thrill of hot air ballooning and gliding all within easy reach.
