Nearby are The Clee and Long Mynd hills, Stiperstones and Wenlock Edge, all of which are a walkers paradise.
The medieval town of Ludlow, 5 miles, has a racecourse, 13th century castle, wonderful architecture, street markets, antique shops and Michelin-starred restaurants. Visit Church Stretton, known as Little Switzerland, Ironbridge and Shrewsbury, with its wonderful buildings, shops and riverside walks. Fishing and golf can be found within 5 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 4 miles.

This detached holiday property is set in the Teme Valley, amongst stunning countryside on the Wales/Shropshire border. The area is a walker’s haven as it is close to Offa’s Dyke, Glyndwr’s Way, the Mortimer Trail and the Shropshire Hills, Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The owners have devised a number of local walks that can be achieved from the front door. Knighton, 3 miles, offers independent shops, pubs, restaurants and the Offa’s Dyke Centre. Castles in the area include Ludlow, Powys and Clun. Llandrindod Wells, Builth Wells, the Royal Welsh Showground, and the market towns of Newtown and Welshpool are within easy reach. Shop and restaurant 3 miles, pub ½ mile.

This holiday cottage, newly converted in 2019, is situated just outside of the village of Baschurch which is set near to Shrewsbury and Ellesmere. Baschurch offers pubs, takeaways, churches, a large convenience store and cash point. The local bus, which operates between Shrewsbury and Ellesmere, collects and drops off on Springfield Barns main drive allowing guests to leave the car behind.
Shropshire is a gem of a county with so much to explore within easy reach. The north of the county offers the meres, mosses and canals along with the county town of Shrewsbury. Whereas the south of the county offers the stunning Shropshire Hills and food renowned market town of Ludlow. The county is home to Ironbridge World Heritage Site and Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and Canal World Heritage Site and nine National Trust sites including Attingham Park.
Shrewsbury is the birthplace of Charles Darwin and is a wonder of medieval black and white buildings. The town offers fantastic dining, individual shops, craft markets, museums, art galleries and the stunning Dingle within the Quarry Park.
The barn is set within the boundary of the owner’s grounds and it neighbours The Parlour (ref UK10958) on one side. There is private parking for two cars within the main parking area and the property is accessed from the main drive.
You step through the front door into a very modern, bright, airy open plan conversion with vaulted ceilings and beautifully restored original exposed beams. Firstly, into the fully fitted and equipped kitchen area with breakfast bar, oven, microwave, fridge and ample storage space. Then into the living area with dining table for two people and the peaceful living area with a 32” Freeview TV and sofa. To the rear of the living area is the sleeping area with a kingsize bed and an en-suite shower room. It is surprisingly spacious for a sleeps two conversion.

From its rural setting, this lovely converted barn enjoys panoramic far reaching views over the delightful Shropshire countryside towards the Welsh Borders. Comfortably furnished it lies close to the owners working farm and offers an excellent base for exploring this area, with wonderful walking and fantastic bird watching opportunities with red kite being a regular feature. The property also boasts a conservatory facing west to take advantage of the surrounding views. The charming market town of Bishops Castle, 2 miles, is home to two breweries, interesting shops and restaurants, whilst Ludlow and Shrewsbury are both easily accessible. The local pub is 3 miles away.

This 19th century cottage at the head of a valley on the slopes of the Long Mynd, is accessed via a steep track. In a secluded setting on working farmland, it adjoins acres of National Trust land, within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a Site of Special Scientific Interest with wonderful views and birdwatching. Walking from the door with the Shropshire Way, 500 yards away. Close by are Shrewsbury, Ludlow, Bishops Castle, Church Stretton and Ironbridge. Long Mynd summit (517 metres) is a 30 minute walk. This detached holiday property that stands alone in large gardens - there is a fabulous view of Wenlock Edge, an area of Shropshire that is well known by walkers. The Wenlock Edge links Much Wenlock with Church Stretton, the only market town in this AONB. You’ll find many attractions around these areas where the surrounding villages form an excellent base for the country lover or sportsman alike, in all seasons. Cross-country routes are well marked for hikers, horse riders and mountain bikers. Shops 4 miles, pub 3 miles, restaurant 1½ miles.

These two properties are in the pretty village of Burwarton, at the foot of The Brown Clee Hill, and located just a minutes walk from a country pub ’The Boyne Arms’, which has been renovated and is run by the owners’ of these properties. The Boyne Arms offers fantastic meals in a most comfortable and cosy setting, the beer garden outside now includes private pods which guests can use to enjoy their drinks and food outside (see their website for opening and serving times). Included in your short break will be a return journey to either Ludlow or Bridgnorth, to enhance your stay without the need to worry about transport.
The Old School House 1 (UK32061) is a three bedroomed property of which one is en-suite and has a mezzanine balcony overlooking the open plan living space. The Old Kitchen (UK32062) is a studio apartment with the bedroom area in with the living area.
Burwarton is close to Shrewsbury, Ironbridge, Ludlow and Bridgnorth which all offer an array of attractions as well as a large range of shops and bars. For the more active guests there are many walks to enjoy such as Clee Burf and Brown Clee Hill which is the highest point in Shropshire. The town of Ludlow is also just a short drive away and highlights for the day include Mortimer Forest and Ludlow Castle. After a long day walking and exploring all that Shropshire has to offer. Other local attractions include Rays Farm, the inland funicular railway and Daniels Mill. The Parlour is nestled away on a quiet farm, a great choice for couples, a small family or friends looking to escape and reconnect with nature. Located in the village of Northwood, in between Wem and Ellesmere, the property offers excellent access to surrounding areas each offering many attractions. Just down the road is one of Shropshire’s most beautiful meres, Colemere. It is almost surrounded by mature woodland and has two very attractive hay meadows to explore.
Shropshire has many special landscapes including the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the Stiperstones and Corndon Hill Country crossing the border in the southwest of the county and the internationally important Meres and Mosses in the north. The Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and Canal World Heritage Site also includes part of Shropshire around Chirk in the north.
There are several towns just a short drive from Top House Farm which make a great day out. Why not stroll around the town of Shrewsbury, it is neatly scooped up in the loop of the River Severn. Inside the loop are Medieval streets lined with wonky buildings containing original and one-off shops and street names that truly tell a story - look out for Butcher Row, Fish Street and Grope Lane or a little further in the other direction is Chester. When it comes to beautiful cities, Chester is one of the best and should be on every tourist’s ‘must see’ itinerary.
