The cottage lies within a private 200-acre family-run farm and boasts its own enclosed orchard and courtyard. The orchard leads on to a footpath which, in one direction, takes you to the village of Hookagate with a pub that welcomes dogs and is popular for food, and a regular bus service to Shrewsbury. In the other direction the footpath leads to Hanwood, also with a village pub and local shop. Although the property is rural, you’ll be pleased to learn that Shrewsbury is only 10 minutes away by car or an easy bus journey. Set on the banks of the River Severn, Shrewsbury is one of the country’s most picturesque medieval towns. Dotted with flowers and parks, and renowned for the historic Shrewsbury Abbey and Castle, this bustling town is home to a lively independent shopping scene, restaurants, bars and some unforgettable days out. Chestnut Cottage has been lovingly converted into a destination holiday cottage in the beautiful village of Sheinton, where gorgeous interiors and rustic, bespoke furniture await you and your guests. As you enter through the bespoke oak doorway, you’ll find yourself in a bright and spacious porch, great to take a seat and remove your boots and coats. A large sofa is set around a welcoming wood burner in the living room and provides the ideal spot to gather to plan your next day’s adventures or just relax with a film on the Smart TV including Netflix and Freeview. The adjacent kitchen is kitted out for creating feasts with all the appliances you will need and follows a very contemporary design. The French doors in the dining area lead out to the garden providing loads of natural light and stunning views of the Wenlock Edge and further towards the Welsh hills; a lovely sociable space to enjoy evenings over a delicious meal or maybe some board games and drinks.
Three gorgeous double bedrooms await you, each with luxurious bedding. There are two stunning bathrooms, one en-suite in the master, with a walk-in shower and the other a panel bath with shower over. A utility room is a useful additional extra, with ample space for storage and a place to pop muddy boots after a day’s hiking. There are no direct bus routes in or out of the village, however, Newport (approximately 11 minutes’ drive away) and Market Drayton (approximately 11 minutes’ drive away) offer supermarkets, independent shops, cafés, bars, and restaurants to suit all tastes along with the weekly country market, monthly farmers’ market, canal walks and swimming pools/leisure centres, you have the ideal places to discover on your holiday.
Ironbridge, the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution, (approximately 32 minutes’ drive away), has plenty to see and do for all the family. Shrewsbury (approximately 30 minutes’ drive away), where ’A Christmas Carol’ was filmed on location, is full of finds to be discovered by foot or by boat. The River Severn is a must, as is the café culture, the castle and the churches that dominate Shrewsbury’s famous skyline. The Fold shepherds hut is set in its own wonderfully secluded field that lies alongside the meandering River Perry, on a grassy meadow known as "The Flash". With views over the river and the fields beyond, The Fold offers total peace and rural charm in the Shropshire countryside.
Inside, there’s a lovely bespoke kitchen, including a large Belfast sink and plenty of storage. The owners provide basic condiments for cooking and a welcome pack waiting for you on your arrival. There is a built-in seating area and table, perfect for both indoor eating and games, some games are provided in the hut for you to enjoy. The bathroom has a large shower and top-of-the-range waterless eco loo. The eco loo is slightly different to a domestic toilet but much more sustainable. Lots of thought has gone into the hut and throughout, nothing is overlooked. For a good night’s sleep, there’s a delightful king-size bed with White Company bedding and handmade cushions and furnishings. In the main living area is a wood burner (it may be possible to have this lit for your arrival).
Outside there is a fenced garden which includes a top-of-the-range wood-fired hot tub which overlooks the picturesque meadow and has views of the river. The Fold’s garden also includes a firepit/BBQ, perfect for cooking or just gathering around to keep warm on a brisk evening. You will also have access down to the river through the meadow. The Fold has sole occupancy of The Flash with no one overlooking you, and no neighbours - apart from the odd sheep at certain times of the year! Have your morning cup of tea listening to bird songs, watching the resident swans glide down the river, and if you are lucky, spot the occasional kingfisher. The Fold is the perfect place to hang out in the summer or cosy up in the winter with the wood burner roaring.
From the shepherd’s hut, you will have access straight from the farm to the beautiful Shropshire countryside via a network of footpaths. As well as many local walks straight from the door. The Fold is also a great springboard from which to explore the wider area including the Shropshire Hills and historic Shrewsbury which is only a 10-15 minute drive away. Located in the tiny hamlet of Yeaton, The Fold is only a 1½ mile walk from the village of Baschurch which has a fantastic pub, several takeaways, a farm shop and a cafe as well as a well-stocked village shop and post office.
The Fold is off-grid, and all the power is generated by solar panels and stored in batteries. Whilst we are confident that there will be ample power for your stay, please use the electricity responsibly and turn off lights and chargers when not in use. There are modern USB charging sockets. There is no mains electricity, therefore, hairdryers etc cannot be used. A kettle is provided for use on the gas hob or wood-burning stove. This holiday cottage, newly converted in 2019, is situated just outside of the village of Baschurch which is set near to Shrewsbury and Ellesmere. Baschurch offers pubs, takeaways, churches, a large convenience store and cash point. The local bus, which operates between Shrewsbury and Ellesmere, collects and drops off on Springfield Barns main drive allowing guests to leave the car behind.
Shropshire is a gem of a county with so much to explore within easy reach. The north of the county offers the meres, mosses and canals along with the county town of Shrewsbury. Whereas the south of the county offers the stunning Shropshire Hills and food renowned market town of Ludlow. The county is home to Ironbridge World Heritage Site and Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and Canal World Heritage Site and nine National Trust sites including Attingham Park.
Shrewsbury is the birthplace of Charles Darwin and is a wonder of medieval black and white buildings. The town offers fantastic dining, individual shops, craft markets, museums, art galleries and the stunning Dingle within the Quarry Park.
The barn is set within the boundary of the owner’s grounds and it neighbours The Parlour (ref UK10958) on one side. There is private parking for two cars within the main parking area and the property is accessed from the main drive.
You step through the front door into a very modern, bright, airy open plan conversion with vaulted ceilings and beautifully restored original exposed beams. Firstly, into the fully fitted and equipped kitchen area with breakfast bar, oven, microwave, fridge and ample storage space. Then into the living area with dining table for two people and the peaceful living area with a 32” Freeview TV and sofa. To the rear of the living area is the sleeping area with a kingsize bed and an en-suite shower room. It is surprisingly spacious for a sleeps two conversion.

Arscott is a small hamlet in Shropshire. It is near to Plealey, Shorthill and Annscroft and within the civil parish of Pontesbury. Down the road is a 18 hole golf course, there are walking trails galore. Lyth Hill is a 14 mile circular route, that runs directly through Arscott and is a delight for all walking enthusiasts.

The double ‘stable door’ style doors lead out onto the steps to the garden patio where there is a table and chairs, barbeque and fire pit. There is a newly planted small orchard and shrubs. To stock up your kitchen, head to Shawbury, 10 minutes away, where you’ll find a small supermarket a bakery, takeaway restaurants, and an organic farm shop.

High Bank was renovated in June 2023 and rests in front of Pontesford and Earl’s Hills in the beautiful Shropshire village of Pontesbury. Facing south, and slightly elevated, the views stretch out over the Shropshire countryside which is by far the best views in the village. Filled with nearly 800 listed buildings, including the castle and world-famous abbey and a vast majority of independent shops, cafés, and fantastic restaurants there’s plenty to explore to suit everyone. For those seeking more outdoors adventure there’s great mountain biking, or horse riding at Eastridge Woods, with trails to suit all abilities. Other activities within proximity to High Bank include the national trust property, Attingham Park with some fabulous gardens and walks to explore and also Hawkstone Park.
