This very attractive, semi-detached, stone-built holiday cottage is situated in the picture-postcard village of Ysbyty Ifan, nestled in the Snowdonia National Park. Ysbyty Ifan is set within the National Trusts Ysbyty Estate with very diverse landscapes and habitats, part of which has been designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest. The River Conwy runs through this beautiful, picturesque village which is a haven for wildlife enthusiast and photographers, and ideal for cyclists, walkers and ramblers with walking routes from the door. There is also a children’s play area in the village to keep the children occupied. Keen walkers will enjoy the 6-mile circular route on the Ysbyty Estate to Cwm Eidda walk. In the village, is St John’s Church and is of significant historical importance as it was the birthplace of what we now know as the St John’s Ambulance, and the village was the birthplace of Abraham Lincoln’s great-grandmother.
With stunning, countryside views, Castiel Cottage dates back to c.mid 19th century and retains its original beamed ceilings and inglenook fireplace, with a welcoming wood burner for those cooler evenings and a pretty patio garden where you can relax with a glass of wine on those balmy, sunny days. The popular village of Betws-y-Coed, the ’Gateway to the Snowdonia National Park’ is just 6 miles with shops, cafés, restaurants, waterfalls, pretty river pools and is a haven for mountain bikers with specialist outlets. The Victorian resort of Llandudno and Conwy, as well as the splendour of the Snowdonia National Park are all easily accessible by car. The beautiful Italiantate village of Portmeirion is well worth visiting or take a trip on the the Ffestiniog Narrow Gauge Railway, which are both within a 30-minute drive from the cottage. Other places to visit include the popular Riverside Chocolate House at Pentrefoelas and Conwy Falls. There is fun for all the family at the exciting Zip World Fforest, whilst water sports are catered for at Llyn Brenig. If you fancy a spot of surfing at any time of year, look no further than Surf Snowdonia, the world’s first artificial surfing lagoon, located in Dolgarrog in the Conwy Valley. Beach 25 miles. This delightful, rural detached cottage is located on a quiet working farm, perched in the hills of the Snowdonia National Park near Betws-y-Coed, this makes a wonderful place for a holiday. Criccieth is a pretty village watched over by a medieval castle, and boasts a lovely beach and a good selection of restaurants and shops. Ymwlch Barns are a charming complex of barn conversions situated in a quiet hamlet offering beautiful mountain views and country walks. The Dutch barns (UK12872 and UK12873) are superb, semi-detached barn conversions each offering modern open plan living with a luxurious touch and lovely private hot tubs in enclosed courtyards (towels not provided). They each have a kingsize bedroom and a twin room, making them ideal for small families or couples. The surroundings are alive with snowdrops in winter and bluebells in spring. Brig-y-Don is a spacious detached property, cleverly divided into two properties, which can be booked separately or both together if you have an extended family. The larger of the two, Brig-y-Don, sleeps six, and has a lovely kitchen/dining room with stunning views out over the sparkling waters of Cardigan Bay, and a spacious living room with a warming wood burner – ideal for relaxing in front of with a glass of wine. The smaller property, Brig-y-Don Bach, which is all on one level, has a separate entrance and a private patio to the side of the house. It’s ideal for couples or grandparents wanting to have their own space! Both properties share the fabulous rear garden each with their own seating area. The main part of the garden enjoys the glorious sea views, which are particularly gorgeous in the evenings as the sun sinks into the sea to the west. The garden is enclosed, so great if you’re taking your pooch with you! From the end of the garden, there’s a direct path which, in just a few minutes, takes you down over the railway crossing, and onto the sandy beach (don’t forget to bring your bucket and spade!).
You can stroll along the promenade and into the town centre, where you’ll find a good selection of pubs, cafés and eateries, plus a lovely choice of individual shops. You can hire a bike and explore the scenic Mawddach Trail, which runs along the course of an old railway line through pretty Penmaenpool, all the way to the market town of Dolgellau. You can enjoy a trip on a steam train on the Fairbourne Railway, Talyllyn Railway or Ffestiniog Railway, all of which are nearby, or visit mighty Harlech Castle, perched on the cliff in the picturesque town of Harlech (a UNESCO World Heritage Site). If adrenaline’s your thing, a visit to Zip World in Blaenau Ffestiniog is a must. Here you’ll find the world’s largest zip wire zone, plus Bounce Below, where you can bounce on trampoline nets and whizz down slides deep underground in an old slate cavern.
