From The Old Manor, you can walk down to the beach, or just up the lane is Dunster Station, which is part of the West Somerset Steam Railway network. The medieval village of Dunster with its impressive castle (National Trust) is a short distance away, as well as a good range of local shops and restaurants. The coastal town of Minehead is nearby, with its promenade, historic harbour and a good range of larger shops and other amenities. Minehead is also the starting point of the South West Coastal Path. The house is ideally suited for a visit to Exmoor National Park where walking is available for all abilities and some stunning views to enjoy across the Bristol Channel. Venture out and visit the village of Porlock Weir, Selworthy and its famous tea room, and the Victorian town of Lynton and Lynmouth. Golf, fishing and horse riding are available locally. It also offers uninterrupted views across the Bristol Channel as well as its very own private access on to the seven mile stretch of sandy beach which lies at the bottom of the garden. If you would like to bring the dog, you’ll be pleased to hear that Brean beach and many in the area welcome dogs all year round.
On arrival, enter through the private gates and take in the individuality of this unusual coastal beach house, which was fully refurbished in 2018. The entrance hall is the perfect place to leave your coats and shoes behind you as you enter this remarkable property. On your left is the first of the four bedrooms, which offers a double bed and views over the garden and out to sea.
Next door is the second of the four rooms, which is a bunk bedroom ideal for the little ones of the party. Heading down the hall and to your right is the light and airy living area, which offers extensive views to Brean Down and the Bleadon Hills.
Following on through the property are the remaining two bedrooms, both of which have a king size bed and en-suite shower rooms with toilet. Heading to the rear of the property you enter the delightful open-plan kitchen/dining room which offers seating for eight guests, perfect for enjoying supper as a family. Off the kitchen you will find the main bathroom, with a contemporary twist and which features a large freestanding bath, separate shower and WC.
The fully enclosed garden area enjoys 180 degree panoramic views across the Bristol Channel and Brean beach. Leading off the double French doors from the kitchen is a decked area offering seating for eight guests. To the rear of the garden is your very own barbecue lodge for all the family to enjoy.
The stretch of sand between popular tourist destination Burnham-on-Sea and Brean Down is the second longest in Europe, and includes eight beaches. It is a huge draw for beach lovers, and the many campsites and parks that serve it prove its popularity! There are ’kiss-me-quick’ style family amusement parks offering rides, seaside entertainment and eating places, as well as picturesque National Trust managed coastline at Brean Down offering peace, tranquillity and miles of trails away from the busy seaside resorts of Weston-Super-Mare and Burnham-On-Sea.
The local area offers a fun packed holiday for families, as well as the beaches of Burnham, Berrow and Brean offering a seaside sanctuary for those wishing to get away from it all.
The Castle is situated at the end of the strip on the headland known as Brean Down. Here you can experience the 360 degree views over the sea on one side, and across the Somerset Levels on the other where on a clear day you can see both Glastonbury Tor and the Mendip Hills. Wells, famous for its beautiful cathedral, boutique shops and restaurants, is within easy reach. Popular attractions nearby are Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole and Glastonbury Tor.

Welcome to TH Hollow, a beautiful single storey stable conversion in the heart of the Somerset countryside at the foot of the Quantock Hills. Completed in 2021 and finished to a high standard, there is a central open plan living/dining/kitchen which has a fabulous, vaulted ceiling, comfortable furnishings and comes well-equipped with everything you need for the perfect stay. The kitchen area has electric hob and oven, dishwasher, microwave and fridge while the living area has a 43” Smart TV, perfect for relaxing of an evening.
The bedrooms lead off from the central living area with the master having a king-sized bed and bedroom two having a single bed. The large wet room has non-slip flooring, heated towel rail and shower. From bedroom two you have direct access to the Gym with cross trainer, Sauna and further shower room. Ease of access here has been carefully considered, with ramps leading in from both the front and rear entrances as well as wider doors inside, making this wonderful holiday home suitable for all abilities. To the rear is a large, enclosed courtyard with garden furniture (through access may occasionally be required by the gardener for grounds maintenance) and access from here to the utility area with washing machine and bike store.
TH Hollow also has exclusive use of the owner’s fantastic hot tub, covered heated swimming pool and tennis court at pre-arranged times (9am -1pm unless otherwise agreed with owner). Please note that the swimming pool is available from late-April until Mid-October. Your four-legged family members are welcome here also and have use of the owners fenced dog walking paddock, the perfect spot to soak up the views while your dogs run off some energy!
Set just outside of the village of Bishops Lydeard, with its village pubs and local store as well as access to the brilliant West Somerset Steam Railway, a great way to see not just the countryside but also the coast while you chug merrily along to Minehead. Alight here and spend the day exploring the shops, restaurants and beach. The county town of Taunton is easily reachable within 15 minutes or head over to Exmoor and explore the wonderful villages, walk over the moors and have a cream tea in one of the many tea shops on route. Daisy Cottage at Manor Farm is a well-equipped cottage, set in an area of natural beauty in North Somerset. This smart barn redevelopment is set on a farm within the delightful fringe of the Mendip Hills, just 5 miles from the promenade, pier, sandy beach and SeaQuarium of Weston-super-Mare. Make sure you pack your walking boots, make a picnic and explore the stunning surroundings.
Daisy Cottage has cosy accommodation for two, including a fully equipped kitchen, a walk-in shower, a wood burner and a super kingsize bed which can be single beds on request. Children cannot stay at Daisy Cottage, apart from babies aged 9 months and under, for which a travel cot and highchair can be provided.
Within easy reach of Cheddar Gorge and Caves, Wookey Hole, Wells with its magnificent cathedral, the renowned Clarks Village shopping outlet at Street and National Trust properties at Clevedon Court, Tyntesfield and Montacute House. Splendid walks and cycle trails, and nearby Chew Valley Lakes is a modern reservoir and a mecca for birdwatchers and fishermen. Further afield are Exmoor National Park, the re-developed docklands and shopping of Bristol, and the memorable regency architecture of Bath. Beach 5 miles. Welcome to Mudhorse Cottage, a beautiful one bedroomed cottage less than a minute’s walk to the beach and the South West coastal path. Mudhorse Cottage has an interesting history, previously being the last Mudhorse Fisherman’s Cottage in the UK, with subtle nods to this reflected throughout including many books detailing the unique thousand-year-old traditional fishing. Completely refurbished in 2022 to a high standard, you enter the porch which has a fabulous map which the owners have thoughtfully plotted out places of interest and great local spots to eat out.
From here you head into the spacious open plan living/dining/kitchen area, the latter being very well equipped. The comfortable dining area opens onto the lounge which has a gorgeous wood burner for winter months. A further snug with sofa bed makes a wonderful reading room or chill space with smart TV and a stunning stained-glass window depicting the last Mud-horse Fisherman who lived in the property. The lovely bedroom has a super king-size bed and plenty of storage, and a fabulous bathroom with roll top bath and shower. Outside to the front is a patio seating area with a lovely pond and water feature, while to the rear, a lawned garden with BBQ and sun loungers, the perfect space to lay back, relax and enjoy the quiet after a day exploring.
Step outside the property and within 50 yards you are at Stolford Sea front and common land, perfect for dogs and humans to stretch their legs and soak in the sea air along the pebble and sandy beach. The coastal path here leads to Steart Marshes (WWT) a thriving nature reserve a little further on there is the village of Combwich where you can enjoy a pub lunch or in the opposite direction the path takes you to Kilve a place of special scientific interest. For a more traditional seaside atmosphere, head East to Burnham on Sea or Weston Super Mare with the latter having the great pier packed with amusements as well as lots of shops and restaurants to choose from. To the West a short drive takes you to Watchet a pretty harbour town, Dunster with its Castle and Minehead and North Devon with the beautiful Exmoor National Park. Stolford is nestled only a few miles from The Quantock Hills, an area of outstanding natural beauty. Bridgwater and Taunton are within easy reach with its many shops, bars, and restaurants and its train station which has direct links to Bristol, Cardiff and south to Penzance, so you will be spoilt for choice for days out!

Welcome to Inglenook, a fabulous ground floor apartment set in a converted 400-year old former inn right in the heart of Watchet. Tastefully refurbished in 2023, this is a wonderful spot for your next seaside escape.

Set in the heart of Watchet, you have a myriad of wonderful shops and restaurants on your doorstep to explore. Why not leave the car behind and step back in time aboard the West Somerset Steam Railway, which chugs merrily along the West Somerset Coastline and through the countryside, linking Minehead to Bishops Lydeard. Exmoor is within easy reach by car, with its winding roads and plentiful tea rooms to explore, as well as seeing the famous Exmoor ponies in their natural habitat. The seaside town of Minehead is close by and offers a more traditional seaside fare of arcades, shops and restaurants.

Uphill has a wonderful year round dog friendly beach and local shop for essentials, while the hospital is nearby. Weston-Super-Mare is a traditional seaside town on the north Somerset Coastline, jam packed with fun things to do such as donkey rides on the beach, wander along the grand pier and enjoy the arcades, grab some fish and chips or enjoy one of the many bars and restaurants in the town centre or along the seafront, which also has many shops to explore. Why not jump on the train and head off to the bright lights of Bath or Bristol for a dose of city life for a day. The ancient medieval town of Glastonbury, with its wonderfully eclectic shops and famous Tor makes for a fabulous day out or bag yourself a bargain on a visit to Clarks Village in Street, with its many designer outlets to enjoy! The beautiful West Somerset Steam Railway, which runs through Blue Anchor, has a stop here and they offer wonderful trips as well as speciality trips with steam fairs, afternoon teas, candlelight dinners and the amazing Santa Express! Nearby, head to the medieval village of Dunster with its wonderful castle, spend a day at the arcades or shopping in Minehead, pop to Watchet and stroll around the Harbour or head inland onto Exmoor.
