If a day by the sea is what you fancy, the traditional seaside town of Weston-super-Mare is always a winner with its grand pier and donkey rides! Longleat is well worth a visit, and the city of Bristol, with the SS Great Britain and Clifton Suspension Bridge, is within easy reach.

Cheddar village offers plenty of interesting shops and cafes as well as other attractions. Cheddar Gorge, Britain’s largest limestone ravine gouged through the Mendips, is a magnet for climbers, walkers and visitors to the floodlit caves and Cheddar Reservoir is a great place to take a picnic, look out for wildlife and join in activities such as sailing and angling. Axbridge is a charming market town with a medieval square and half-timbered buildings, whilst Wookey Hole attracts many visitors to the showcaves. Wells is England’s smallest city set around a cathedral; Wedmore is a lively town with many individual shops and eateries, Glastonbury is famous for its music festival, spiritual culture and King Arthur legends, and the coastal resorts and magnificent beaches at Weston-super-Mare, Burnham-on-Sea, Berrow and Brean are all within a short drive, as are the cities of Bath and Bristol. Located in the quiet back streets of the pretty medieval village of Dunster, Mill Haven offers flexible and well-appointed holiday accommodation. During early December, the Dunster Candlelight Festival is well worth a visit. There are many highlights to enjoy during your stay in the area. In Minehead, there is the main train station or take the famous West Somerset Steam Railway, which travels along the coast and then inland to Bishops Lydeard. There is also a beach at Minehead and a promenade, where you can enjoy a walk and an ice cream. Take regular bus services along the coast to such highlights as Porlock and Lynton and Lynmouth. If you are coming with children, a day ticket can be purchased for Butlins on the seafront. Great walking opportunities can be found in the area on both the South West Coast Path and within Exmoor National Park. There are beaches at Dunster and Blue Anchor to enjoy. Beach 2 miles.
