Dog-friendly Somerset
One of the largest counties in England, Somerset offers plenty for those wishing to explore the great outdoors with FIdo. With beautiful beaches, green countryside, wildflower meadows, woodlands, lakes, and a vast range of stunning landscapes, it really is a superb place for a dog-friendly getaway. Home to well-known landmarks such as Cheddar Gorge, Glastobury, and Exmoor, there's so much to discover in this wonderful county - including of course, the locally pressed cider and cheddar cheese!

The living room has comfortable seating, Smart TV, Wi-Fi, and wood burner. The kitchen is fully equipped with fridge, slimline dishwasher, microwave, coffee machine, induction hob, washing machine and double electric oven. On the ground floor, you will also a utility area. Upstairs the three bedrooms are a great size and have a relaxing feel, the main bedroom has a super kingsize bed and is dual aspect with views of garden at rear and the valley and river at the front, whilst the second bedroom is at the front, has a double bed and beautiful views over the valley and river and third has a small double (for one), making this property the perfect holiday home for friends, families, and couples.
Outside, to the front, there is a balcony area with idyllic views over the valley and river, the perfect spot to relax after a day visiting the local attractions or walking in the Exmoor National Park! The rear garden is a private and enclosed garden with a hot and cold dog shower facility to wash your pooch after a beach/muddy walk. There is private parking for one vehicle at the front of the cottage.
There is superb scenery and walking to be enjoyed on the South West Coastal Path or inland on Exmoor. Medieval Dunster with its numerous pubs and cafés, is 3 miles away. Here you can visit the National Trust’s Dunster Castle, a medieval Yarn Market, Deer Park and Mill, all sure to make for an interesting day out.
Minehead, 4 miles away, is a charming Edwardian seaside town located on the beautiful south west coastline at the start of the dramatic South West Coast Path. Its stunning mile–long seafront with promenade, pretty harbour and boating heritage gives it a unique charm. There are a wealth of small independent shops, cafés, restaurants and supermarkets along with other town amenities. The West Somerset Railway is also well worth a visit, There are further beaches to be found at Dunster and Porlock. At Woolacombe and Croyde, you will find some of the best surfing and family beaches in the country. You can unwind with some stunning country walks through woodlands, go horse-riding, sea fishing or cycling in this unspoilt area, or visit the many attractions within easy reach. - Minehead, EnglandSet right opposite the beach in the heart of the seaside town of Minehead we have Seagate Cottage, built in the 17th century this delightful topsy turvy thatched cottage has views over the bay from the lounge and first floor bedroom. On the ground floor you will find the well equipped kitchen diner with electric cooker, fridge freezer and ample dining space, the twin bedroom is on this floor as well as the bathroom which has bath with shower over, heated towel rail and the washer/dryer. Up the stairs to the first floor you will find the living room with TV, DVD player, DAB radio and CD player, open fire and sea views, the large double bedroom also has sea views and there is a separate toilet as well.
Pets are more than welcome here and are treated like family with their own dog bowls and throws for them to make their stay extra comfy, there is a green area across the road and the beach opposite allows dogs from September to May plus lots of other year round dog friendly beaches nearby.
The traditional seaside resort of Minehead has a great mix of small independent stores as well as larger chain stores plus plenty of pubs, restaurants, cafés and tea rooms all within a short walking distance from Seagate Cottage. For a great day out hop onto the West Somerset Steam Railway just around the corner and ride the rails through Somerset villages. Wonderful walks surround you, head up North Hill or over to Alcombe, Exmoor has miles and miles of walks as well suitable for all abilities! The wonderful medieval village of Dunster with its fabulous castle, now owned by the national trust is just a couple of miles away. A short drive brings you to the Victorian villages of Lynmouth and Lynton, famous for the Watersmeet Gorge, National Trust, Valley of the Rocks and the funicular cliff railway while Porlock and Porlock Weir hold plenty of charm and interest to those who visit the area.£90From price per night based on 7 night stay
