Vibrant market town of Beccles boasts independent boutiques and chain shops, with an excellent collection of eateries, including fine dining to many cafés serving home-made cakes and savouries to delight many palates. The weekly market is excellent for all things local, and there is an open air heated outdoor swimming pool, popular with many local swimmers and gateway to the Famous Norfolk Broads National Park. Corton lies just north of Lowestoft, the most easterly point of the UK. Beachwood is set amongst a secluded woodland setting and has frontline sea views. It is also considered to be the one with the most private, quiet and secluded settings. The photographs of the interiors speak for themselves. The kitchen is well equipped according to our many extremely satisfied guests to date. Tea coffee and milk is provided so guests don’t arrive late and find they can’t make a hot drink. The huge decking stretches to the cliff edge with views onto the award-winning beach. Stunning sunrises each morning which, should you so wish, can be watched while you relax in the hot tub! At night it lights up via a button. String lights have now been installed which are on a timer, which creates a wonderful evening ambience. The beach is never busy which makes for relaxing walks in both summer and winter and is accessed via a lovely short walk through the woods. It is also a dog friendly beach year-round. There are no shops or plastic swings and slides at Ocean Glade. It is very peaceful, and the grounds are beautifully maintained. There is a pub a 10-minute walk into the centre of the village which serves food, plus a small shop which also sells newspapers and a Chinese takeaway that only takes cash. There is a shopping complex a few minutes’ drive away with plenty of free parking.
Beachwood is ideally located to explore both Suffolk and Norfolk. Visit the Norfolk Broads National Park, with its southern gateway, Oulton Broad, just a short drive away, with good restaurants and a wine bar. Lowestoft is an old-fashioned traditional town offering shopping, beaches, two piers with family entertainment and restaurants. The popular town of Southwold is about a 35-minute drive away. Tollgate Cottage is a beautiful, detached single level property enviably located on the edge of the Blythburgh Estuary. It is tucked away alongside the A12 which runs the length of the Suffolk Heritage Coast making it the ideal spot for those wishing to explore this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. In the village you will find a popular pub and walks including those by the famous church. The legend of the Black Shuck, a ghostly black dog, dates back to 1577 and has been immortalised in songs and folk legend. The church itself is an incredible structure, overlooking the Blyth Valley.

Public transport is superb here and you can get into the ever popular Southwold to enjoy all the quintessential town has to offer with ease. From its independent shops, brightly coloured beach huts and traditional pier, it’s easy to see why this coastal town is a holiday hot spot all year round. Walberswick is also an excellent must see during your visit. Crabbing here is the sport of choice and it will keep kids entertained all day. All you need is a line, a bucket and bacon (we hear smoked bacon is the preferred kind!).

This is also a dog friendly area with endless woodland and beach walks. A trip to Dunwich and the woods are highly recommended. With a much needed pub at the end of the route this is a destination ideal for both summer and winter getaways. RSPB Minsmere is also close by with incredible sighting of rare species reported by birdwatchers. Beach 3 miles. Shop 2 miles, pub and restaurant 50 yards.

Pear Tree Cottage is a delightful, semi-detached period cottage in the village of Wenhaston, close to Southwold and the Suffolk Heritage Coast. The property benefits from a large double bedroom accessed through the single room. The annexe, with a double bedroom and en-suite shower room, is a building adjoining the cottage, with a separate exterior door only a few steps from the cottage entrance. A wood burner in the low-beamed living room makes sitting by the fire the perfect way to spend a winter evening. The stunning mature enclosed garden is raised and private, ideal for dog owners, and is a perfect place to dine outdoors on the warm summer evenings that this popular part of Suffolk enjoys. There are two parking spaces but one is only suitable for a small car, high speed broadband (65-70mb) is available and normally a good 4G mobile reception on most phone networks.
You are ideally placed to explore both coast and country at this location. There is a popular traditional pub serving food and real ales a 5-minute walk from the cottage, which also has a cosy open fire. There is also a village store ½ mile away, a butchers at Bramfield, 2 miles, and a supermarket, petrol stations and a wide range of shops at Halesworth. You can enjoy walking routes around the village heathland and through to an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, close to Blythburgh. The parish church features the celebrated Wenhaston Doom painting, one of the finest such exhibits in the country, depicting the final judgement of souls.
The market town of Halesworth is a short drive inland and has a rich history of brewing, malting and agriculture. A wonderful blend of old and new buildings can be seen throughout the town. Along the pedestrian thoroughfare, you can explore the independent shops including bakers, antique shops and, of course, pubs and restaurants.
To the east is the ever popular location of Southwold, which can be easily reached by bus or car. This coastal town is known for its sandy beach and colourful beach huts that line the promenade, which leads to the iconic pier. Popular with young and old, the pier was built in 1900 and it was reconstructed in 1987 and now offers a café, restaurant and traditional Victorian entertainment. Together with stunning views, it really is a must when visiting Suffolk. Southwold has an array of winding streets lined with bustling shops, as well as independent, quirky and award-winning restaurants. It is also the home of Adnams, a Suffolk brewery renowned for its ale.
Also nearby is the RSPB reserve at Minsmere, as seen on TV, and home to a large colony of avocets. An excellent choice of coastal walks including the beach (5 miles). Shop ½ mile, pub and restaurant 500 yards.
