Attached to the owners home, this cottage has stunning country views over open farmland. The holiday cottage has a ground floor living area with a wonderful stone inglenook, which houses a cosy wood-burning stove. There are French windows opening onto a cottage garden. There is plenty of rustic charm throughout with small character wooden doors and doorways, windows and beams giving the cottage an "olde worlde" atmosphere. In 2024 the property has been repainted and had new carpets fitted. Situated in the borderlands to the Wye Valley and 9 miles to the River Usk this is a superb touring base. This lovely detached lodge is sat within the owner’s grounds overlooking the open countryside and has a large, shared lawned area to the front and a field next to it which has a couple of horses in. The lodge has two bedrooms, one double and one single, as well as a sofa bed in the living room, and the kitchen has all the appliances you could need.

There are masses of things to see and do in this area, you can walk from the property down to the River Wye through the Wye Valley and on to Symonds Yat. Monmouth itself is steeped in history and has an abundance of activities. Visit Monmouth Castle and Military Museum or Shire Hall, and after all that walking and exploring visit one of the many cafés or restaurants in the town.

Tintern Abbey is 7 miles from the property and makes for a fantastic day out. Goodrich Castle is another to visit and is just 6 miles away. The Forest of Dean is approximately 10 miles from the lodge, here you can visit Clearwell Caves which are over 4500 years old and there are nine caverns to explore. Puzzlewood is a great day out for adults and kids alike.

Go through the gates and you are 50 yards from the centre of historic Abergavenny café culture, with its many coffee shops and bistro’s. Originally the site of a Roman fort, Gobannium, Abergavenny became a medieval walled town within the Welsh Marches, with its own Norman castle.
If walking or cycling is your thing, then Abergavenny is the gateway to the mountains, including the nearby Sugarloaf, the Blorenge, with the famous ’The Tumble’ cycle hill climb, and the five hills, Ysgyryd Fach, Deri, Rholben, Ysgyryd Fawr and Mynyd Llanwenarth. With easy access to the Brecon Beacons National Park and Black Mountains, Offa’s Dyke Path is close by and the Marches Way, the Beacons Way and Usk Valley Walk all pass through Abergavenny town. Fishing, golf and horse riding are all available nearby.

The Big Pit in Blaenavon is a favourite with families and the hidden garden of Dewstow is a must. For those looking to explore the countryside the views from the Blorenge, The Skirrid and the Sugarloaf are amazing and all within a short drive. The Brecon Beacons and the fabulous Black Mountains are also within an easy daytrip, all are fantastic for walking/trekking and cycling. Monmouthshire is very centrally located with Cardiff, Newport, Bristol, Abergavenny, Gloucester, Hereford, Hay-on-Wye, Monmouth and Chepstow all within easy reach.
The beautiful and picturesque Wye Valley is under half an hour away and this is a super place to hire canoes and travel leisurely down the river, or walking/cycling the path along the river.
