The scenic Tywi Valley is just a short drive away and is home to numerous majestic sites dotted along its glistening river, where you’ll find the 12th-century castles of Carreg Cennen and Dryslwyn and the enchanting gardens and nature reserve of Dinefwr Castle and Par. The elegant market town of Llandelio can also found here, providing a wealth of eclectic gifts shops, highly acclaimed restaurants and traditional Welsh pubs, with fine ales and fresh local produce always on the menu! Ammanford itself has a coffee roastery serving fantastic coffee as well as breakfasts. There is also a large selection of shops, supermarkets and local pubs, some serving good food and with panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and castles. Pantyffynnon station is within walking distance of the property on Heart of Wales line to Shrewsbury or Cardiff in the other
direction.
There is also plenty to do in the area, with the beaches of Gower approximately 18 miles. The lovely old market town of Llandeilo, situated on the River Towy, is just 6 miles away with boutiques and galleries, and hosts various festivals throughout the year, including the Jazz Festival and the Gin Festival. Maesydderwen, meaning oak field, started life as a working farm and later became a country inn, but is now a collection of delightful holiday cottages, beautifully situated within the living landscape of the Brecon Beacons National Park. The charming market town of Llandeilo, with chic shops and an array of good restaurants, cafes and pubs, is just over three miles away. The National Botanic Garden of Wales, 11 miles, with its great glasshouse dome at its centre, is a year round attraction, and within the Brecon Beacons National Park there are masses of paths and trails for walkers, runners, cyclists, mountain bikers, golfers, horse riders and wildlife watchers. The local area is steeped in history and tales, one such being the legend of highwayman Twm Siôn Cati, who hid out in caves near the village. The county of Carmarthenshire, known as ’The Garden of Wales’ has become a big draw for walkers, cyclists, anglers and lovers of the outdoors and is the largest county in southern Wales, stretching from Carmarthen Bay in the south to the western Brecon Beacons and Cambrian Mountains in the north. It offers rich landscapes, gardens, ancient castles, wildlife and sandy beaches as well as market towns brimming with local produce, chic shopping and eateries.
Llandeilo is one such town, less than 30 minutes drive away and the market town of Llandovery is just 10 minutes drive. Come and enjoy the delights of Tynval, nestled on the edge of the rural hamlet of Bronwydd Arms near the market town of Carmarthen. This beautiful, single-storey barn conversion was once the milking parlour and part of the once busy Cwmgwili Mill Farm, which is steeped in history and dates back to the 1600’s. The mill, which is on the side of the farmhouse, stopped working in the 1950’s. The mill first produced flour and then was converted into a woollen mill which produced blankets for the war. The farm was built by the owners of Cwmgwili mansion, which is a short walk up the hill, and served as the source of food for the estate owners many years ago. The owners have meticulously restored Tynval and retained all the quirks and charm throughout, with vaulted ceilings, beams, exposed stone walls and solid teak flooring offering a superb barn for your family to enjoy.

It is just a 5-minute drive from the market town of Carmarthen and 15 minutes from the beautiful seaside village of Llansteffan, where the famous salmon river, the Towy, joins Carmarthen Bay. Here you can also visit the ruined castle, dating back to the early 12th-century, along with the Iron Age earthworks still visible to this day and which once controlled an important river crossing of the Towy. Enjoy a walk to discover this castle and its epic views overlooking the sand flats and the Towy river mouth.

Aberglasney, a few minutes away, is is said to be one of the finest gardens in Wales and surrounds a restored Grade II listed mansion which is perfect for cream teas whilst enjoying the scenery.
Travelling west is the historic township of Laugharne, the hometown of the famous poet Dylan Thomas, here you can view his writing shed, his former home and enjoy some fine locally brewed ales in his favourite pub.
