The locals are justifiably proud of this region with its rich local folklore which tells of tricking the devil, mermaids, shipwrecked kings and princesses, and even an explanation of why gulls sound as if they’re crying. Cycling is very popular in the Afan Argoed Country Park and golf and horse riding can also be found locally. Offa’s Dyke National Trail runs close by to the town, providing a good excuse to get on your boots and head off for a walk, there are vineyards and homemade ice cream suppliers nearby. Guests are also very close to the NT property Powys Castle, with 3 others within 45 minutes, Chirk Castle, Erddig and Attingham Park. The Welshpool to Llanfair steam railway, Montgomery Canal, and Lake Vyrnwy are all local and well worth a visit. Quad biking, paintballing and horse riding are all available locally, and watersports can be found at Bala Lake and in Llangollen, a 40-minute drive. Historic Shrewsbury is 30-minute drive, and the west Wales coastline is approximately a 1 hour drive. Shops, pubs and restaurants 1¼ miles.

Both Neath town centre and Swansea are easily accessible being approximately 4-5 miles from the property.
The Neath Valley in South Wales is an increasingly popular area for UK holidays. The location lends itself well to those looking to explore the diverse countryside of the area. With cycle paths and walking trails on your doorstep, there is plenty to explore.
The valley is home to some of Wales’s most impressive waterfalls, including Aberdulais, Melincourt, Pontneddfechan and Sgwd yr Eira. Impressive hills will keep you busy, head to Afan Forest Park, 20 minutes away, for hilly bike trails or Penyfan in the Brecon Beacons, which is the tallest peak in South Wales.
For family fun days out, the National Showcaves Centre for Wales at Dan yr Ogof, The National Botanic Gardens, Folly Farm, quad biking and Zip World are firm favourites in the area. Aberavon beach is 8½ miles away, or visit the famous beaches of the Gower Peninsula, The Mumbles and Swansea Bay are all within 40 minutes or less. Pendine sands, Tenby, Carmarthen, Bridgend (McArthur Glen Designer Outlet Village), Cardiff, Newport, Prince of Wales Stadium are all within an hour’s drive. The Penderyn Whisky distillery is under 30 minutes away where tours are available. Multiple local golf courses are available as is some of the best Salmon and Sewin (Seatrout) fishing in the UK on the rivers Towy, Teifi, Gwilli and Cothi, a personal ghillie can even be arranged for you. It is a perfect base for anyone wishing to fish the Golden Grove or Abercothi Estates waters. Other coarse and flyfishing lakes and reservoirs are also available. Horse riding with a local equestrian centre is also available.
All in all you could not find a more centrally located place for a holiday in South Wales.

Ty Halen occupies possibly one of the most desirable spots on the whole of the Llyn Peninsula. Set over three levels, this Morfa Nefyn beach house is in a prominent elevated position a few yards above Morfa Nefyn’s magnificent beach close to Nefyn Golf Club and opposite the entrance to the Coastal Path.

Arrive into the ground floor hallway with adjacent games area and garage. In addition to the main ground floor entrance, there is a side path with gentle slope and three widely spaced steps leading to the side gate, allowing access along level path at rear to additional entrance on first floor. A spiral staircase leads from the ground floor to the open plan living and elevated dining area. The grounds, slightly overlooked in part, have fabulous views and are entirely enclosed by a boundary wall and mature hedge with a lockable side gate. Why not unwind in the hot tub with views across the sea, the lifeboat station and Anglesey. Sleeping ten guests, it can accommodate groups of family and friends, with a well-equipped galley kitchen and bedrooms on two floors.

The Llyn coastal path is within a few metres of the house, you will find fantastic beaches on the Llyn Peninsula. Step out onto Morfa Nefyn beach and wander across the shoreline at low tide to Porthdinllaen, or dip down to many of the quiet coves dotted along the coastal path. A short drive away are the famous Whistling Sands where children will be delighted to hear that the sands really do whistle! Visit the popular beaches of Aberdaron, Abersoch and Llanbedrog or try wind surfing at Hell’s Mouth, a huge wild bay and a wonderful stretch of sand. Nefyn Golf Club is situated on the headland just above Porthdinllaen. Its dramatic location makes it the most photographed course in Wales and a must for any serious golfer - or anyone with a set of golf clubs looking for a challenge.

This gorgeous, semi-detached cottage, situated in the village of Llangattock, overlooking the River Usk, has been restored to a high standard with your comfort in mind. The ground floor of the property compromises a large kitchen and an open plan living/dining room with a wood burner. Upstairs you will find three lovingly furnished bedrooms, one with the added benefit of en-suite facilities, as well as a family bathroom. The outside of the property has an enclosed garden with lawned area, as well as a patio area complete with a private Jacuzzi. Honeycott lies within walking distance of the historic town of Crickhowell, named the 2019 ’best place to live in Wales’ by the Sunday Times, and also ’best high street in Britain’ 2018. There is an array of amenities there including boutiques, coffee shops and restaurants. For those who enjoy music festivals, Crickhowell is home to the Green Man during August. The town of Abergavenny is 6 miles away and there you will find some fine dining restaurants, including the Michelin-starred Walnut Tree Inn and The Hardwick Restaurant owned by chef Stephen Terry. The town is host to the annual food festival in September. Brecon is just 14 miles away from Honeycott and has lots of places of interest to visit such as the Welsh Regimental Museum and Brecon Cathedral, and it is also home to a jazz festival every August. For those wanting to explore the area on foot, Pen Y Fan, South Wales’ highest peak, offers great opportunities. Sugar Loaf Mountain also nearby and is the southernmost of the peaks in the Black Mountain Range.
