This fabulous 19th-century school has been converted into a great holiday home. Situated in the Wye Valley, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this detached property is a real home from home with everything you could need, set in a quiet village location just walking distance from the local pub/restaurant. There are three large bedrooms all with en-suite facilities, one of which is on the ground floor with patio doors leading out to a lovely enclosed garden, great for your animals to exercise in. There is also a community play area at the rear of the garden.
There is a spacious open plan kitchen, dining and living area with beams and a wood burner – great for cosy nights in. There is also a snug on the ground floor; a great place for the kids if they want to watch some TV or play games.
The market town of Monmouth is approximately 5 miles from the property and hosts an abundance of shops, cafés and restaurants. Steeped in history, a must visit is Monmouth Castle and the Monnow Bridge and Gate.
The Forest of Dean National Park and Symonds Yat are approximately 12 miles from the property, and plenty of walks to be had with Offas Dyke not being far from here. Whatever you do on your holiday this spacious conversion will be the ideal place to base yourselves from. Shop 2 miles, pub and restaurant 350 yards.

This wonderful holiday property (adjoining the owner’s home) is situated within 20 acres of the owner’s grounds, and occupies half a converted barn, sitting high on a hillside with fabulous views over the Vale of Usk. The Forest of Dean and Symonds Yat make fabulous days out. Monmouth, Chepstow and Ross on Wye all close by. Shops 7 miles, restaurant and pubs 1 mile.

There is access to Newport and Arreton via nearby bridle paths and the rest of the Isle of Wight should you wish to walk or cycle it, while buses into Newport and Ryde (the two main bus stations) are about 5 minutes away to take you anywhere you want to go on the Island. Centrally located on the Isle of Wight, Fair Isle House is a great base to explore the famous Needles, Alum Bay and Black Gang Chine, which are all within a short drive. Nearby are the attractions of Robin Hill Adventure Park and Gardens and Arreton Barns, the Isle of Wight’s hub for artisans and craftspeople, as well as Brading Down, a local nature reserve with outstanding natural beauty. Also within easy driving distance are Osborne House, Carisbrooke Castle, Ventnor Botanical Gardens, museums, vineyards and wildlife centres. Buses into Newport and Ryde (the two main bus stations) are about 5 minutes away to take you anywhere you want to go on the Island. Fishing nearby. Beach 7 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 1 mile.

These three holiday properties are located on the owner’s small farm just a short distance from the quaint village of Wootton, which can easily be found when arriving from either of the island’s main ferry terminals. An idyllic, rural location, there is an ancient woodland at the back of the farm in which to take walks. A flourishing habitat for wildlife, you are extremely likely to see foxes, birds and owls during your stay. Red squirrels have been known to frequently join you for breakfast. Wildlife cameras are available for children to experience the wildlife around them during the day or night. They can be placed in the grounds to capture the hidden wildlife. You will also see a variety of wild flowers, including wild daffodils, primroses, violets and bluebells.
The properties are surrounded by countryside, yet are within easy reach of beaches and attractions. The main town of Newport is only 3 miles away, whilst Ryde, with its pleasant beaches, is 5 miles. Wootton is 1 mile away, with a good selection of pubs en-route to Wootton Bridge. There are also a couple of shops, a fish and chip shop, chemist and a Post Office. The location is a paradise for walkers, country lovers, bird watchers and cyclists. There are local forests in which to enjoy walks and horse riding, and for cyclists, there is a choice of challenging off road bridleways, peaceful byways and level, purpose-made tracks running along former railway lines.
There are numerous attractions to discover for all ages. The Needles landmark attraction is a must see, with its chairlift, amusement park, boat rides, lighthouse and coloured sands of Alum Bay. Visit Queen Victoria’s favourite holiday residence, Osborne House and its gardens, or Blackgang Chine, which is the oldest themed attraction in the UK. Fancy taking a break in this delightful, Mews cottage? It lies tucked away in a small courtyard of cottages with gates shutting out the world, giving peace, quiet and privacy. Go through the gates and you are 50 yards from the centre of historic Abergavenny café culture, with its many coffee shops and bistro’s. Originally the site of a Roman fort, Gobannium, Abergavenny became a medieval walled town within the Welsh Marches, with its own Norman castle.
If walking or cycling is your thing, then Abergavenny is the gateway to the mountains, including the nearby Sugarloaf, the Blorenge, with the famous ’The Tumble’ cycle hill climb, and the five hills, Ysgyryd Fach, Deri, Rholben, Ysgyryd Fawr and Mynyd Llanwenarth. With easy access to the Brecon Beacons National Park and Black Mountains, Offa’s Dyke Path is close by and the Marches Way, the Beacons Way and Usk Valley Walk all pass through Abergavenny town. Fishing, golf and horse riding are all available nearby.

Located right opposite the magnificent Abbey in the historic riverside village of Tintern, it lies within the original Abbey curtilage. Tintern itself is within the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and has pubs, restaurants, cafés and craft shops, children’s play area, a convenience store, vineyard, and a brewery all within a few minutes’ walk. Enjoy locally produced ice cream, cheese, and home cooked food at the local eateries. There is a monthly local produce market in the village.
Locally, explore dramatic Chepstow or Raglan castles, make your own craft gin at the distillery, hire a bike, go horseracing, or try fishing, canoeing or a thrilling zipwire! The area is a haven for wildlife and boasts great birdwatching too. Within a short drive are the many visitor attractions of the Royal Forest of Dean including a steam railway, caves, and film locations and in the other direction the Brecon Beacons await. There is something for every age group in this wonderful location.

A substantial house, sleeps eight, furnished with a variety of modern and antique furniture and formerly part of the stable block of historic Llanfoist House, this Brecon Beacons holiday house is a perfect base from which to explore this lovely unspoilt part of the world with much to see and do within walking distance.

Once housing the carriages for the occupants of the big house, including the legendary iron master, Crawshay Bailey, this is now a comfortable, spacious home with two sitting rooms and three en-suite bedrooms. The main spacious living room is comfortably furnished with ample sofas and arm chairs and has a multi-fuel style gas fire in the inglenook fireplace. The smaller snug-like sitting room is ideal for quiet times. Put your feet up with a glass of wine and a good book. Beamed ceilings carry on throughout the upstairs rooms adding to the character and charm of this lovely property.

Winkle Cottage is a beautiful, no smoking, dog friendly cottage, perfect for a romantic or family get away. With large gardens to enjoy whilst watching the beautiful stream pass by, you really will be able to unwind here. The cottage has been decorated and furnished beautifully and you will find this to be very comfortable. You will be greeted with a welcome pack which the host will send you a request before your arrival.
Picturesque Winkle Street in Calbourne was originally known as Barrington Row and it was named after the Barrington family who owned the estate when the first cottages were built in the 1750s. You will almost certainly be visited by families of ducks that will be eager to be fed. Just a couple of minutes’ drive and you will find Calbourne Water Mill and Rural Museum. Set in 35 acres of rural landscape, this is the only working water mill on the Isle of Wight.
Calbourne offers good accessibility by bicycle to the Military Road which is a cyclist’s paradise. Winkle Cottage has ample private and secure storage facilities for bicycles.
Head on to the west coast of the Isle of Wight you will find the ancient town of Yarmouth with its plentiful restaurants, shops, and bars. Further west and you will find the most beautiful beaches, along with the iconic, famous landmark attraction, The Needles, which has so much more to enjoy than the stunning views - it is a destination not to be missed. The range of attractions includes the spectacular chairlift ride, taking you on a journey past the coloured sands cliffs of Alum Bay to the beach. Soak up the breathtakingly beautiful views from the beach and enjoy a paddle in the sea. Or get closer to The Needles by taking a pleasure cruise - the sunsets are incredible here.
