The beaches in this area remain quiet, even during the busiest summer periods and with man made rock islands just off the shore and accessible at low tide, the beach is wonderful to explore and is ideal for swimming, fishing, windsurfing and walking. Elmer is an ideal location to explore many of the attractions of the south coast from bustling Brighton, 25 miles, to the east to historic Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight to the west. In between there are beautiful places such as Chichester with its cathedral and festival theatre, quaint Arundel, 5 miles to the north with its castle, river, antique shops and famous wetland bird centre, Goodwood and Fontwell race courses and the beautiful South Downs are all close by. Dating back to the 1600s, The Old Dairy justifies its name. However, it has been beautifully renovated to a high specification with modern and luxurious touches throughout, and is now a wonderful self-catering cottage for two in the heart of the West Sussex countryside.

You can explore the countryside on horseback as well as walking and/or cycling in the area.
Why not head out in the morning and return for an invigorating shower in the stunning white-tiled wet room, or take a picnic and wander into the evening skies to watch the sunset with a cold bottle of bubbles. Either way, a wonderful holiday experience in this quiet part of rural Sussex.

Slightly further is Chichester with Festival Theatre, boat tours, extensive shopping, Goodwood (Glorious Goodwood, Festival of Speed and Revival for motor racing) and Fontwell for a day at the races. Other race courses within easy reach include Brighton and Lingfield. Beaches within a 30 minute-drive include West Wittering, Worthing and the ever popular cosmopolitan city of Brighton, with its pier, Regency Royal Pavilion, theatres and art galleries.

There are many stately homes and gardens to discover too, some of which are National Trust, including Petworth House, Goodwood House and Gardens, Nymans, Glyndebourne, Sheffield Park and Borde Hill.
